Former President Donald Trump has been a real Chatty Cathy on Truth Social today. At one point, the twice impeached one-termer even took credit for Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton being acquitted of all impeachment charges. It's nothing to brag about since it's been no secret that Paxton is as crooked as a dog's hind leg. He's dripping with corruption.
Republicans made it clear that GOP senators would be primaried, and they're willing to put money behind the challenger in their next election if they voted to impeach.
According to Axios, a strategist said that Turning Point USA's Charlie Kirk was vital: "He had his people posting senators' office numbers and was giving them out on his show. Driving the senators absolutely crazy."
It was probably the most openly corrupt thing Republicans have done in a while. Trump took to Truth Social to gloat.
"Yes, it is true that my intervention through TRUTH SOCIAL saved Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton from going down at the hands of Democrats and some Republicans, headed by PAUL RINO (Ryan), Karl Rove, and others, almost all of whom came back to reason when confronted with the facts," he wrote. "Ken has been a great A.G., and now he can go back to work for the wonderful people of Texas. It was my honor to have helped correct this injustice!"
Well, lookie here.
That's not draining the swamp. It was never about that.
