During a CNN town hall, former New Jersey governor and Trump confidant Chris Christie blasted Trump as a three-time loser, and assailed Republican presidential candidates for refusing to speak out against the former guy.
Discussing how to debate Trump with CNN's Anderson Cooper, Christie launched into attack mode.
"Say his name," Christie chided. The ABC pundit said it's time to stop blaming everyone else for their weakness and said out loud words you'll never hear on Fox News.
"How about it’s [Trump]? He hasn’t won a damn thing since 2016," he said.
"Three-time loser," he said. "2018, we lost the House; 2020, we lost the White House; we lost the United States Senate a couple weeks later in 2021; and in 2022, we lost two more governorships, another Senate seat, and barely took the House of Representatives when Joe Biden had the most incompetent first two years I’d ever seen in my life."
( We differ on Biden's first two years in office. In fact they were very good even by progressive standards.)
"Loser, loser, loser. Now we’re getting going. “It’ll be different this time?” Why? Why will it be different this time? Those arguments need to be made, and I’m not afraid to make them for two reasons. One, I’m not afraid of him. And two, it’s the truth."
Trump will do his best to ignore Chris Christie's attacks, but they won't go away. The former New Jersey governor's only function this primary season is to try and lay waste to the Trump candidacy.
He, like many other Republicans see Trump as an albatross around their necks.
Nikki Haley and Tim Scott finally tepidly criticized Trump over the indictments.
Nikki Haley on Monday called Donald Trump “reckless.” Tim Scott described the federal charges brought against him as “serious allegations.”
Maybe they could have stroked his brow while they said so. What a milquetoast.
