On Sunday's CNN's State of the Union, Senator Rick Scott's response to Trump's racist and violent tirade against Mitch McConnell and his wife was to say he "hopes nobody is racist."
When first asked by CNN host Dana Bash about Trump's death threat at Mitch McConnell and his racist characterization of his wife, Scott changed the topic and bashed Democratic spending.
Then the Florida Senator defended Trump's "use of nicknames" to excuse his behavior and then pivoted back to Democratic spending.
"I don't condone violence and hope nobody else condones violence," Scott said.
Dana Bash rebuked the "nickname" nonsense.
BASH: "Nicknames are one thing, but this appears racist. Is that okay?"
SCOTT: "It’s never, ever okay to be a racist. I think you always have to be careful if you’re in the public eye with how you say things. You want to make sure you’re inclusive. You want to make sure – yesterday the neighborhood I was in, we had people probably from ten countries that lived there. That’s what’s great about this country. I know what I try to do is make everybody – everybody, especially all their kids believe they have hope and live the dream of this country. I hope no one is racist. I hope no one says anything that’s inappropriate."
Say, what?
Sen. Rick Scott made the rounds on Sunday, and pulled the same Houdini act on Face the Nation, but didn't resort to 'I hope no one is racist' ridiculousness.
Trump is always racist.
Trump is always violent.
Calling Elaine Chao what he did is racist, plain and simple.
