Stuart Stevens, Republican pundit and author, joined a panel on AM Joy on Saturday morning and a hot topic, in addition to the election, was the idea of systematic racism and how race in general has changed the face of politics and our country going forward. One of the major differences between the two main political parties in America is that one recognizes systemic racism as existing while the other flat out denies it. And that denial is becoming harder to uphold, with social media, phone videos and police brutality being captured exponentially more now than ever before.

Yet the Republicans continue to deny what is right in front of their eyes and ears.

CAPEHART: And you know, Stuart, to Chairman Steele's point about the lack of listening, as we saw in that clip, when the Black woman said, you know, systemic racism, the white woman across her was yelling back, "Don't use that term, don't use that term." Pick up on what Chairman Steele was talking about, and your reaction, your reasoning for why the Republican party just is incapable of recognizing and acknowledging that systemic racism does actually exist.

STEVENS: Well, look, I think they don't want to believe it. I think it is as much that they don't believe it as they don't want to believe it. Because if you do believe it, it lays you down a series of conclusions that are self-damning and troubling. And it's much more comfortable to believe that this isn't a problem. Look, the Republican party went down a path, it had a choice but it went down a path to embrace white grievance as its core. And we are in the last gasp as a national party. I think Donald Trump is going to be crushed on Tuesday. Absolutely crushed. Even if he won, where this country is going is determined now. And Donald Trump and Stephen Miller and all of these people, they're not going to stop it. Of the Americans who are 15 years and under, the majority are nonwhite. They're gonna be nonwhite when they turn 18 and start voting and that's the end of the Republican party as we know it. So you can deny gravity, but when you jump out of a window, gravity is gonna win. And that's where the Republican party is at.

CAPEHART: That is the best analogy, Stuart.

As Stuart Stevens says so bluntly: You can deny gravity, but when you jump out of the window, gravity is going to win. Gravity is the reality of the situation. And the Republican party, through their denial, are leaping to their deaths.
