Sympathy for the Devil -- The Rolling Stones

You know how songs hit you differently at different times? I was at a barbecue this weekend and we were talking about Trump--because inevitably, all talk about the news of the day turns to the dumpster fire that is Trump. We were talking about how odd it was that someone who violates the Ten Commandments openly and unabashedly could be so beloved by fundamentalists. And then, this song comes on.

Please allow me to introduce myself
I'm a man of wealth and taste
I've been around for a long, long year
Stole many a man's soul to waste
And I was 'round when Jesus Christ
Had his moment of doubt and pain
Made damn sure that Pilate
Washed his hands and sealed his fate
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guess my name

Who does that sound like to you??

I don't think that the fundamentalists' support of Trump is particularly surprising. If anyone is going to usher in the Apocalypse, it's gonna be some degenerate like Trump. He's not the Second Coming, he's the devil that will make it all happen.
