It's not every day you see a Fox News host hold it together while a Trump surrogate goes off like a rocket, but Megyn Kelly managed as best as she could after Newt Gingrich lost his mind and his temper.

The fireworks begin at about 1:45, when Megyn deconstructs the reasons why media spent so much time covering Trump's admissions of sexual misconduct on the Access Hollywood tape. You can see it in Newt's face.

Kelly said Trump, by his own admission, might be a sexual predator. Let the games begin!

“I’m sick and tired of people like you using language that’s inflammatory that’s not true!"

Shouting ensued, but Newt finally got to shout, "When you use the words, you took a position. And I think it’s very unfair of you to do that, Megyn!”

Kelly, with deadly calm, answered, “Your defensiveness on this may speak volumes, sir.”

And boy did it go downhill from there.

After castigating Kelly for not oohing and aahing over the Wikileaks dump of an alleged speech Hillary gave where she used a term that offended Gingrich, he started shouting at her.

He yelled, "You want to go back through the tapes of your show recently? You are fascinated with sex and you don’t care about public policy! That’s what I get out of watching you tonight!”

Kelly once again returned fire, telling him she's not especially fascinated with sex, but she is interested in the protection of women and what we're getting in the Oval Office with Trump.

Gingrich snarked, "So you're going to send Bill Clinton back to the East Wing because after all, you are worried about sexual predators."

Kelly didn't bite but instead pointed out that women in particular are concerned about the allegations against Trump.

As Gingrich began to froth at the mouth, he began to try to force Kelly to repeat "Bill Clinton, sexual predator" over and over again. Still, she did not back down, reminding him that they have covered Bill, but he is not running for the White House as Mr. Trump is.

The segment ended with Kelly telling Gingrich he "could take his anger issues and spend some time working on them."

Never one to pass up on getting the last word, Gingrich ended with, "And you too."

I think the audience saw who had anger issues and who didn't.

I've just got to say, Megyn Kelly really handled that well. Newt Gingrich is the king of anger and smear politics, and wanted every opportunity to re-enact his hatred of Bill Clinton on the air. In the end, she just made him look like the angry, small man that he is.

Update: Trump's Social Media Director Dan Scavino, Jr just tweeted this.

I answered him. Forcefully.
