Someone let me know when the media is going to quit propping up these Bushies who have been wrong about everything as so called "experts" on national security and foreign policy. Here's exhibit A from this Monday's The Real Story with Gretchen Carlson on Faux "news" where Carlson pretends that anyone should take a word that former Homeland Security Adviser to President George W. Bush, Fran Townsend, says seriously.

She's another bomb thrower like her counterparts in the GOP, who care only about scoring political points and doing their best to push for more war and more military engagement in the Middle East, churning out talking points about President Obama supposedly "failing to lead" and basically accusing him of being weak and feckless because his solution to every problem isn't to just drop more bombs on people's heads and maybe once in a while give diplomacy a chance.

We can thank her former boss for causing this quagmire in the region to begin with and for the rise of ISIS, but don't expect that to be discussed on Faux "news" and shows like this one any time soon. Somehow the name George W. Bush and our invasion of Iraq which destabilized the region in the first place never managed to make its way into this conversation.

Here's more from Fox's blog: Fmr. WH Adviser: 'When All You're Playing Is Defense, You're Bound to Lose':

The former Homeland Security Adviser to President George W. Bush, Fran Townsend, told Megyn Kelly tonight that U.S. leaders must be prepared for a terror attack on our soil.

She pointed out that Rep. Michael McCaul (R-TX), chairman of the the House Committee on Homeland Security, recently said that they believe there are 250 foreign fighters in the U.S., people who traveled overseas, were trained, fought and have now returned.

Townsend said that in addition to that, the FBI has identified 1,000 subjects for investigation who have some tie or affiliation with ISIS. Unfortunately, the agency only has the resources to monitor a fraction of those individuals.

She said that the Obama administration is falling short in combating the ISIS threat because not only is there no strategy, but adequate resources are not being used to face the problem at home or abroad.

“Unfortunately, when all you’re playing is defense, you’re bound to lose," Townsend said. "The guy who’s playing offense only has to be right once. You’re playing defense, you got to be right every day.”
