Being a Monday morning quarterback is nothing new in American politics or in life generally. And I think many of us have fantasized a bit at one time or another about being a hero when we were much younger and we see heartbreaking news stories. However, it's another thing to go on TV and make believe you would know exactly how'd you'd react to a life and death situation when confronted with a deranged shooter pointing a gun at your head. Ben Carson, whose usual TV appearances can be characterized as "sleepy," took the opportunity when discussing the recent Oregon mass murder shooting on Fox & Friends to try and puff himself up as some kind of a John Wayne hero by saying he'd not only stand up to the shooter, but he'd rally all the other Christians around him to get the psycho because he's some kind of a Christian warrior. \

There is some disagreement if the shooter actually targeted Christians, but that didn't matter to the Fox news posse.

Carson: I believe this nation has judeo Christian roots and why are we so busy trying to give those away for the sake of political correctness?

Kilmeade: Dr. Carson, if a gunman walks up and puts a gun up and asks "what religion are you? That is the ultimate test of your faith.

Carson: I'm glad you asked that question because not only would I not probably not cooperate with him. I would not just stand there and let him shoot me "I would say, 'Hey guys, everybody attack him. He may shoot me, but he can’t get us all.'

If that happened, Carson would be dead, but since Carson was looking for that question, one has to wonder if it wasn't a plant to make him look tougher and more rugged.

In either case, this is a teenager's fantasy about being a superhero and Carson has no idea what he would have done in that situation. He may have begged for his life and said he was a Muslim too. It's something we can never know.
