This album was released just a few months after Touré's death back in 2006. Knowing that he didn't have much time left, Toure, who was staying at Hôtel Mandé, did not want to leave Mali before his death, so a makeshift studio was put together on the top floor of the hotel. Touré was part of a musical movement known as African blues, which is a pretty interesting concept. The blues, which developed from a blend of both African and western styles coming full circle and being developed on further in the land that helped create the style. It combines traditional blues elements with African instrumentation, which makes for some strange, yet natural arrangements. Ngoni alongisde guitar and bolon alongside tenor sax, pretty crazy stuff.
