Will the real Rand Paul please stand up? Is he the guy who claims to be a "moderate" on immigration, or is he the guy who calls kids who were brought here by their parents lawbreakers?

You'll never know the answer to that, because he is both, depending on which audience he's speaking to.

During a radio interview with WHO in Iowa, Baby Paul said he's "not interested in being filmed and being berated by people who broke the law." Filthy DREAMer lawbreakers, they. And with that, Baby Paul tosses a tiny tidbit of meat to the base.

On the other hand, he also said "he's actually a moderate on immigration" and favors giving work permits to all of the undocumented immigrants in the United States.

So let me get this right. Those kids are lawbreaking kamikazes. AND they're worthy of work permits. So why didn't he stick around and defend that position?

This is a perfect example of how Rand Paul operates. He's no moderate. He's just playing one on the radio. He'd just as soon deport the lot of them, or better yet, force them into a work permit situation where they work and pay taxes with no pathway to earn citizenship.

He's been well-coached, but what he says is still a weasel-walking two-step.
