A construction worker’s blowtorch started the intense blaze on a freeway bridge which brought down the overpass and the structure’s collapse was caught on camera. The fire was reported around 1:30 p.m. on Monday and was reportedly sparked by workers cutting reinforced steel bars with torches, according to the Fire Department.
On Monday, state transportation officials said the freeway would be closed for up two days while workers remove the rubble from the lanes. The freeway is the main route from Southern California to Las Vegas.
