Coming from the California desert, Kyuss's sound truly mirrors the environment in which it was formed. Beginning with low drones, the initial textures of "Thumb" reflect the desolate atmosphere of the desert. Eventually, the song explodes into a heavy, gritty riff that echoes the harsh, unforgiving nature of the barren landscape. Kyuss had a pretty good run and influenced a lot of hard rock acts of all styles, but the band eventually split up in the mid-90s. However, from its demise, Kyuss spawned other great musical projects like Queens of the Stone Age, Mondo Generator, The Desert Sessions, and much more. This was a group that truly acted in the spirit of collaboration and made some memorable tunes for us to enjoy for years to come.

Listen to any good hard-rocking songs lately?
