University of Wisconsin's refusal to go on his show-(updated)

I often hear from talking heads that "such and such" would not appear on their show to discuss certain statements or positions that they are involved in which makes them look weak, intimidated or flat out wrong. John of Wisconsin sent me this email exchange between FOX and himself.

John: I was offered a chance to go on Heartland with John Kasich, to respond to the newest Republican smear attacks on public universities. Upon watching the segment, I discovered that not only was David Horowitz the only guest on that segment, John Kasich made the claim that "no one" from the University of Wisconsin would go on the show." To which Horowitz responded, "I don't blame them."

Here's the email exchange: (I kept the names out )

FNC: " Hi John, as you know, there is a controversy at the university over three convicted felons who are still teaching at the school. I'm writing to inquire whether you or anyone else in student government might like to appear on FOX News Channel to comment about it.

The program is "Heartland with John Kasich" which is live on Saturday night at 8pm Eastern time. You would be on the air for one segment (approximately 5 minutes). You would go to a local studio and we'll send a car to take you there and back.

John: I have a couple questions. First, did you talk to any other students to come on the show? Second, who else would be appearing on that segment? And what point of view are you expecting students to provide? Not necessarily for or against anything, but what will a student voice contribute to the discourse?

I'd be willing to go on, but there's other folks who might be more appropriate. XXX is the chair of, XXX , and XXX chair. I think XXX and XXX are out of town though.

I don't want to commit right now, but if none of them are able to go on, I should be able to do it.

What are the odds that Kasich uses the "I didn't know" defense on this one? Sounds to me like Heartland owes the University an apology.
