I caught this segment on Friday and thought it was awful enough just for the pure race-baiting involved, but after reading this post over at Media Matters, I discovered that it was even worse than it appeared at first blush. Not only were Neil Cavuto and his guest Crystal Wright doing their best to falsely demonize the Obama administration as wanting to promote a welfare state of lazy moocher "illegal immigrants," the program was started under their hero, George W. Bush.

Fox Accuses Obama Of Creating Dependency With Bush-Era Program:

Fox News accused President Obama of promoting dependency and illegal immigration with a food stamp program that started under the Bush administration.

On the April 26 edition of Your World, Cavuto attacked a partnership that educates Spanish-speaking populations about Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) eligibility. Wright claimed that "the Obama administration wants to encourage government dependency and, it looks like, illegal immigration" with the program. Cavuto agreed with Wright and added "it looks like we are doing a beeline to help folks who should not be here in the first place."

But the partnership was created under President George W. Bush in 2004. Salon reported that it "doesn't actually provide food stamps to immigrants," only information on benefits that are already available to those who had been in the country legally for five years: [...]

Fox News continues to falsely claim that Obama is creating a "culture of dependency" for anti-poverty programs put in place before his presidency and exacerbated by the recession. In reality many SNAP recipients work and only stay on the program a short time.

Cavuto continually qualified his statements during this interview with him saying he really didn't want to see anyone out there starving... but... hey... we can't have someone asking for his taxes to be going up to feed all of those lazy brown people just dying to live off of the public dole because they don't want to work for a living... or not.

And it was so nice to hear his guest, Crystal Wright say that she doesn't want the "neediest of the poor" to have to go without being helped. Just what the hell does that mean? Nothing like Fox deciding to have someone on who will define what the rest of us consider poverty down a notch, as if the standard definition isn't quite low enough.

It looks like the Anchor Baby isn't too happy with Republicans like Lindsey Graham for working with Senate Democrats on the immigration bill he was touting over the weekend. Michelle Malkin and her ilk seem determined to make sure that the GOP ends up as popular with Hispanic voters as they are with African Americans right now.

From the Fox News Insider site: Michelle Malkin Calls Out Republicans for Supporting “Shamnesty” Immigration Bill:

On Your World this afternoon, Michelle Malkin called out “deluded” Republicans for joining with Democrats to craft legislation that she equates to amnesty for illegal immigrants already in the country.

“There are many self-deluded Republicans who feel that this kind of ‘shamnesty’ is a salvation for a party that is in shambles. [...] At the same time that they are talking out of one side of their mouth to grassroots conservatives and people of all political persuasions who believe that it is the government’s constitutionally-mandated role to secure the borders,” said Malkin, referring to a TownHall.com report indicating that border crossings are rapidly increasing since talks on an immigration deal began recently.

Good luck with that "minority outreach" program of yours, Republicans!

After last week's appearance at the 2013 Conservative Political Action Conference, where he told the audience, “There is nothing on this green earth that a liberal fears more than a black American who wants a better life and a smaller government," Fox's Neil Cavuto and his producers decided to bring the disgraced Congressman Allen West on his show. Cavuto immediately asked West if he was possibly going to throw his hat in the ring and run for president, because Lord knows we don't have enough wingnut grifters running that racket already.

There's nothing like seeing a former House member, who the voters of his district had to be insane to elect in the first place, lost his race despite outspending his opponent by about 4 to 1 and then finally conceding in the least gracious manner possible, being asked to weigh in on foreign policy and the economy. Even worse, being asked with a straight face for advice on the future of the Republican party and whether he's going to run for president.

CAVUTO: Real quickly, those who are urging you to run for president at CPAC, and I talked to a lot of them, are you saying you're not?

WEST: Look, Neil, the most important thing is that I'm always in a position that I'll serve my country however they wish me to. If they want a really good dogcatcher I'll be willing to do that. So we don't know what happens, you know, as we go forth for 2013, but maybe I'll have you as my economic advisor.

CAVUTO: Okay, that's already a doomed campaign right there.

Hey, what do you know.? Cavuto actually said something I agree with for once on Fox.

It looks like Arizona's wingnut, corrupt Sheriff Joe Arpio is ready to take his all-volunteer, armed posse from hunting down illegal immigrants to the schools in the wake of the Newtown shooting and the NRA head Wayne LaPierre's recommendation that we put armed volunteers into every school . What could possibly go wrong?

Sheriff Joe Arpaio Wants ‘Armed Posse’ to Protect Schools:

In the wake of the Sandy Hook school shooting, Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio is getting ready to deploy an armed posse to protect children in Phoenix, Arizona area schools.

Eric Bolling asked Sheriff Arpaio on ‘Your World’ today how the armed posse would be implemented. Arpaio responded that it would work the same way it’s been working for 20 years and that he’s used the posse to go after illegal immigrants and prostitutes. “I think it’s a good program and we’re going to do it. I don’t just talk about it like politicians after this massacre. We’re going to do it within a week,” he said.

Arpaio further described the initiative saying the posse would patrol the perimeter of the schools and take any action necessary in case there is suspicious activity. “I want everybody to know that we are out there,” he said.

And, as they noted over at Jesus' General, it seems some of these guys aren't exactly spring chickens: Sheriff Joe to Arm Great Grandpa Elmer to Protect Schools .

From Fox's Your World With Neil Cavuto, host Cavuto and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Tom Donohue decided to have themselves a pity party about Donohue not being invited to a meeting at the White House this Tuesday. Never mind the fact that Donohue and his organization spent boatloads of money trying to make sure President Obama was not reelected. Donahue is located just across the street! How dare the administration snub him when he had such a short walk to get there, if he were invited to attend!

Does anyone think that any host on Fox would be asking MoveOn, or Planned Parenthood, or the heads of any unions in the United States why a president Mitt Romney, if we were unfortunate enough to have him elected, wasn't willing to meet with them immediately after the election and answer to them what he's going to do about their demands?

I'm not in the mood to try to transcribe this nonsense, but their interview can be summed up with a few points. One, Tom Donohue and his organization do not represent small businesses or even just businesses in the United States and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce should not be confused with actual Chamber of Commerce groups at a local level, which do actually represent local interests and many small businesses. If anyone wasn't already sure of that, all you have to do is listen to the pitch Donohue was making here for big oil and the natural gas industry as the solution to our employment problems.

And when asked if raising taxes on the wealthy will be damaging to our economy, Donahue naturally agrees and calls it a “big mistake” to let the Bush era tax cuts which were already extended expire. And of course he wants to see our social safety nets cut and the corporate tax rates lowered. Because heaven forbid we haven't had quite enough income disparity in the United States and need just a little more money moved from the pockets of the 99 percent to the 1 percent.

And last but not least, Donahue does what we see most Republicans doing these days, which is conflating “small businesses” who don't have a lot of employees, like hedge funds, with the average real small business out there that won't see much change, if any, if the tax cuts for those making over $250,000 in taxable income a year are allowed to expire.

From this Monday's Your World with Neil Cavuto, Bloody Bill Kristol had some predictions for guest host Stuart Varney on Mitt Romney's timing and picks for veep. According to Kristol, Romney is going to pick next week, his guess on Thursday. And he believes the choices are down to Sen. Marco Rubio and Rep. Paul Ryan, who he says his magazine, The National Review is advocating for, and Gov. Chris Christie who Kristol claims is still in the running.

So I guess it's safe to assume Mittens will be waiting until the convention to announce his pick and it'll be Pawlenty or Portman, since Kristol's usually wrong about everything.

Anyone remember the talking heads over at Fox showing the same outrage over drunken Dick Cheney shooting his hunting buddy in the face? Didn't think so. Fox proves once again that they can find a reason to crank up the feigned outrage machine over almost anything as long as you're a Democrat.

From Think Progress -- Fox News Guest Attacks Hillary: It’s As If She Was Auditioning For ‘The Jersey Shore’:

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is having quite a month. After a photo of her spawned its own internet sensation, new images from a nightlife hotspot in Colombia that show Clinton sipping on a beer and dancing have ignited a fresh wave of gossipy commentary.

The New York Post ran one photo on its front page under the banner headline “Swillary,” apparently upset that she imbibes the same liquid as much of the rest of humanity.

But perhaps the best reaction to the shocking news that Hillary Clinton can have a good time goes to Nile Gardiner from the Heritage Foundation, who appeared on the Fox News show Your World with Neil Cavuto to attack Clinton for “embarrassing” herself:

Hillary Clinton is a public servant, she’s out to serve the American people, to advance U.S. interests. And I think that conducting herself in this way, as a senior U.S. official on the world stage, doesn’t advance American interests in any way. In fact its downright embarrassing. It’s as though she’s auditioning for the sixth series of Jersey Shore rather than representing America on the world stage as the Secretary of State.

As Adam noted, they did bring in GOP strategist Dee Dee Benkie who defended Clinton and said she ought to be allowed to have a few beers after work and unwind if she wanted to. Uncle Rupert just gave us a taste of the kind of stupidity we'd be in for if Clinton would change her mind and ever run for president.

As Diane reported at our Occupy site, this week, sadly we got another example of police officers getting out of hand in their response to a protest by students -- 30 Pepper-Sprayed at Santa Monica College Protest Included 4-Year-Old:

Thirty Santa Monica College students and one 4-year-old were treated for injuries and as many as 5 were hospitalized on Tuesday after being pepper-sprayed during a protest against a plan to possibly quadruple fees to $180 per unit or more for the most popular classes, which are already hard to get into. Students protested outside at board of trustees meeting.

Of course the talking heads over at Fox couldn't pass up the opportunity to attack the students with Neil Cavuto bringing on resident fearmonger David Horowitz to go after them as a bunch of lazy moochers that just want a "free education" to go along with that "free birth control." Horowitz really is a nasty piece of work so his comments here weren't going to be a surprise to Cavuto or his show's producers. I'm sure they got exactly what they wanted out of him.

Here's more on the interview above from Mediaite -- Neil Cavuto Guest Argues That Pepper Sprayed Santa Monica Students Deserve To Be ‘Expelled’:

So far, much of the media coverage has focused on the campus police’s actions (the school has instigated a probe into the incident), but a segment on Your World with Neil Cavuto took it another way. Whereas some people watch the video and wonder how we can stop the growing trend of people being viciously pepper sprayed by authority figures, Your World guest David Horowitz watched it and wondered how we can stop all these darn kids.

“This is mob rule. This is a mob and all these students should be put on probation or expelled for their behavior. The Board of Trustees had a plan, it was aired. There’s a way to complain about a plan. Barging into a Trustees meeting as a mob isn’t the way to do it.”

Cavuto compared the video to those taken in Greece and made the point that it’s not like the Trustees “weren’t altering this to charge you what they do at Harvard.” Right. As we all know, there’s a minimum amount that a tuition hike can be before Americans are allowed to complain.

Meanwhile, Horowitz continued to explain why the students represented the worst of America.

“They want free education! ‘We’re gonna have free contraceptives so why not free education, free food, free shelter?’ That’s where this is going and what’s driving it is the anarchist, communist left, the Occupy movement across the country which was involved also in the UC Davis incident where there was pepper spray. You can’t have mobs running around like that. You can’t have that kind of disrespect for other people’s opinions and other people’s property.”
