When Gawker first broke this story last night I was dubious, as their version read like something out of The Onion. Even for those of us who've watched his antics for the last few years this seemed a bit much. But with this piece in this morning's Toronto Star this 'crazy story' seems to be legit, and with it the merciful end to the embattled career of Mayor Rob Ford.

A cellphone video that appears to show Mayor Rob Ford smoking crack cocaine is being shopped around Toronto by a group of Somali men involved in the drug trade.

Two Toronto Star reporters have viewed the video three times. It appears to show Ford in a room, sitting in a chair, wearing a white shirt, top buttons open, inhaling from what appears to be a glass crack pipe. Ford is incoherent, trading jibes with an off-camera speaker who goads the clearly impaired mayor by raising topics including Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau and the Don Bosco high school football team Ford coaches.

When this goofball was elected a year ago many predicted it wouldn't take long before conservative Rob Ford would be embarrassing Toronto. And it didn't take long at all. In March Ford announced he wouldn't allow any city funding for Toronto's Pride parade, one of the largest in North America. Then he snubbed the event entirely when it was held in June, or any of the other events held that week associated with it.

Toronto Mayor Rob Ford is denying he called a 911 dispatcher names during an emergency call on Monday, but admits he used the"f-word" and apologized for expressing his frustration inappropriately.

Ford issued a statement Thursday outlining his version of events surrounding 911 calls he made after Mary Walsh, part of the CBC-TV comedy show This Hour Has 22 Minutes, ambushed him in his driveway as the character Marg Delahunty, with cameras rolling.

"When I made the 911 call, I was concerned and upset. I was repeatedly told police were arriving soon," Ford said.

"In another call, I expressed frustration with the delay and said that I had to leave to go to city hall. I did use the f-word at some point as I expressed my frustration with the situation. After being attacked in my driveway, I hope I can be excused for saying the f-word. I never called anyone any names. I apologize for expressing my frustration inappropriately."

The statement didn't specify how many calls in total were made to 911.

Ford's statement came after a report by CBC News that quoted sources who claimed Ford turned on the dispatcher who took one of the calls and said: “You … bitches! Don’t you f--king know? I’m Rob f--king Ford, the mayor of this city!”

Ford said in his statement the allegations are "absolutely false."
