Geez Louise. What in the hell does Lou Dobbs have to do next before CNN decides to reign him in or can him? Apparently Dobbs didn't take too kindly to Karen Finney calling him out as using hate speech for the comments he made about her former boss, Howard Dean on his radio show. Our friends at Media Matters posted that one: Dobbs on Howard Dean: "[H]e's a bloodsucking leftist -- I mean, you gotta put a stake through his heart to stop this guy".

DOBBS: Do you think they are also evil mongers? Is that the latest from Senator Reid? We've gone from un-American now to evil mongers.

FINNEY: Our American values say that we believe in free speech. We believe in --

DOBBS: Then why is everybody trying to constrain expression?

FINNEY: Because what we're seeing is, I believe that tyranny is when you organize for the purpose of being disruptive, or when you use hate speech like "I want to drive a stake through Howard Dean's heart."

DOBBS: Really? Did I say I wanted to do that through Howard Dean's heart?

FINNEY: I heart that on your radio program.

DOBBS: You heard me make a reference to Bram Stoker, an allusion to Howard Dean and, as a matter of fact, I was --

FINNEY: That is a convenient correction, Mr. Dobbs. But you called him a blood sucking liberal.

(CROSSTALK)

FINNEY: But how does your saying things like that --

DOBBS: Excuse me. Excuse me. If you will permit me, I called him a blood sucking leftist because of the approach he took.

(CROSSTALK)

FINNEY: Oh, excuse me, leftist, not liberal.

As Finney pointed out, the "leftist" vs "liberal" part wasn't exactly the portion of his comments that concerned her the most. So what does Dobbs do? He plays this from Ed Schultz as some sort of defense that there is hate talk from the left as well.

SHULTZ: Sometimes I think they want Obama to get shot. I do. I really think that there are conservative broadcasters in this country who would love to see Obama taken out. They fear socialism. They fear Marxism. They fear that the United States of America won't be the United States of America anymore.

So there's your left wing hate speech in Dobbs' world folks. Pointing out the obvious. And what does Dobbs finish the segment with? Attacking Finney again, and defending the idiot who brought a gun to a town hall. Wow.

Full transcript below the fold from CNN. Apparently they decided to leave out some of the ugliness with "(CROSSTALK).

Brit Hume says Liberals dare not speak its name

From Fox News Sunday, Nov. 9, 2008. Wrap your heads around this "logic" from Brit Hume. Liberals don't want to be called liberals anymore because they are ashamed of it and want to be called progressives instead because we all know it's a right wing country. Or something like that. Maybe someone else can explain what's going on in this man's twisted brain to me. I thought the terms were just pretty much inter-changeable, but hey, what do I know? Here's the transcript to read just in case watching him causes anyone physical pain.

Wallace: Brit what do you think are the key debates that over the next year that Republicans need to have about the future of the party?

Hume: I think this is not the moment for the Republican party to start trying to reinvent itself. The Republican Party's opportunity will grow out of what happens in an Obama administration and if Obama is shrewd and so far he seems to be in the little, in what little indications we have now is he won't try to pull the party and the country too far, his party and the country too far to the left or let his party pull him too far to the left. But if he does, ah, it won't be popular and it won't work, the programs won't work even if they can be stuffed through the Congress and the Republican party will reap the benefit just as the Democratic party reaped the benefit here.

The idea that there's been ideological shift is belied by the polls and it's belied by one other symptom you can see it time and again and that is what is, what is, what is the liberal, what are liberals call themselves these days? Do they call themselves liberals? No sir. They still call themselves progressives. This is a, this is a political philosophy that an America still to this day dares not speak its name. And, and until that changes, I think we can safely say that we, it's a center right country and the liberals know it.

John Amato:

For weeks John McCain, Sarah Palin and the entire Conservative base called Obama a Socialist and a Marxist. They tried to paint him as the Distributer in Chief, taking from Joe the Plumber and giving it to Cadillac welfare queens who are much too lazy to get a job. And guess what? the American people elected him anyway. There are millions of us who proudly call ourselves "liberals" and donated boat loads of cash to his campaign. Nobody is afraid of the term liberal more than the Hume's of the right because their time has come and gone and they are petrified. And their brand is in the middle of a complete melt down as we speak. And as Bob Cesca documents, this ain't no right wing nation via the polls. I would really love to think that Hume is unemployable if Fox ever let him go.

John King: Obama Needs To Worry About Being Too Liberal

John King on Anderson Cooper 360 playing with his magic maps and warning everyone about the dangers for Obama if he moves too far to the left. Forget that mandate he received with his blowout win, he needs to worry about the former Bush voters.

Yeah.

I'm so glad you clowns were all constantly warning us about the dangers of the GOP and George Bush moving too far to the right when you knew we were going to get one-party rule by Republicans. Oh wait, that didn't happen, did it? How many times did any of you in the media talk about whether Bush would be able to govern if he didn't embrace former Clinton voters?

This is the BS we're all going to get to listen to for the next four or eight years as they try to undermine anything Obama does or might do before he even starts.

Hey John King, here are a couple of maps that maybe you should pay a bit more attention to.
