From the Associated Press:

WASHINGTON (AP) ― Attorney General Michael Mukasey collapsed during a speech Thursday night and lost consciousness, a Justice Department official said.

The 67-year-old Mukasey was rushed to George Washington University Hospital, where his condition was not immediately known.

Mukasey was delivering a speech to the Federalist Society at a Washington hotel when "he just started shaking and he collapsed," said Associate Attorney General Kevin O'Connor. "They're very concerned."

Mukasey was 15 to 20 minutes into his speech about the Bush administration's successes in combatting terrorism when he began slurring his words. He collapsed and lost consciousness, said O'Connor, the department's No. 3 official.

Mukasey's was noticeably shaking during his speech before he collapsed shortly before 10:20 p.m. EST. His security detail called 911. Mukasey was on the stage for 10 minutes being attended to by his FBI detail before medics arrived, according to a Justice Department official who was there.

UPDATE: The Justice Department released a statement tonight:

The Attorney General is conscious, conversant and alert. His vital statistics are strong and he is in good spirits. He is receiving excellent care and appreciates all of the good wishes and prayers he has received. The doctors will keep him overnight for further observations.

Mukasey was still breathing at the time, said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because she was not authorized to talk to the media.

An FBI official said Mukasey got stuck on a word during his speech to the conservative legal group, repeated it several times and then "went down hard."

A senior law-enforcement said Mukasey appeared to be talking when he was taken away. That official also spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the situation.

He was conscious during part of the ambulance ride to hospital, the official said.

White House Press Secretary Dana Perino said President George W. Bush was informed about Mukasey's collapse.

"The president has him in his thoughts and will be kept apprised and hopes that he will be back up and at 'em again soon."

"If I'm lying, may God strike me down!"
Late,
QSE32

come on man. that's harsh.

The poor guys is probably exhausted because he's been losing sleep over lying for BushCo

...

hehe

Don't you mean lying down for George Putz and Co? If Mucus-y were doing his job, there would be indictments.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

very classy asshole

I couldn't care less about showing a classy response to when these criminal cocksuckers start dropping to there knees, When these assholes start standing up and taking responsibility for the people they locked up without charges, the people who have been force feed because they would rather die then live in captivity. Fuck Mukasey, Fuck Cheney, Fuck Bush, if I saw one of them under a truck I would drop my pants to piss on their faces. I don't care if they all drop dead today, I would be just find with dancing on their graves tomorrow.

So once again, Fuck You MuKasey, I do hope it's something serious!

I agree that there's no need for a classy response, necessarily, but there's even less of a need for an asinine one. Gloating over someone's illness (or death) is, simply put, something that is best left to the Ann Coulters and Rush Limbaughs and Michael Savages of the world.

Only good could possibly come from there being one less of these republican criminal assholes in the world. If they can say killing Saddam makes the world safer...I would have to say having one less business criminal in the world makes us all safer.

Boy, nobody likes to see stuff like this happen to anybody.

Hope he is okay.

...it had happened a year ago.

He's gonna get the best healthcare tax payers can buy!
The rest of you uninsured can drop dead though.

That's so sad.

Funny. I'm not sad.

What?, sad that he's ok?
I guess so.

It means, I'm not sad when some evil jerk falls ill. Did you cry a bucket of tears when the killed Saddam Hussein? He's human too. I didn't hear anyone saying, "Ah, the poor guy. I wish him well."

to be an AG and not do exactly as President Cheney tells you to do.

It's sad but is it karmic justice that he was praising the work of the Bush administration?

Can't you guys tell he is faking it to avoid having to further defend the disastrous policy of the Bush Administration and the War of Terror. Classic move.

Why does our online community have to be so vicious during moments of serious health issues? Of course I can't stand the guy or anything he represents but he is still a human with a family and a purpose, as little or big as it might be.

Cut the guy a little slack, when he's back on the job doing his dirty work for Bush Cheney Co. then we can continue our bashing.

By associating his health issue with his professional career you are almost as bad as the NeoCons themselves (emphasis on almost)

Just thinking of those poor souls being tortured on account of weaklings like this. That's all. It's understandable.

No, acting no better than the right wingnuts is never acceptable, and there is no excuse for it here.

at least he's not this turkey

then have a look at his record.

)O(

Tommy the turkey must like corn nuts.

What an inimitable sense of humor.

...

I was thinking, the pure hate for these Bush Co. guys was only created by themselves. All the destruction and lost lives. All the children blown to little bits............All the lives ruined. The dead souls are probably haunting them till their very end.

Almost? No where near.

over a million dead, thousands tortured all working for THIS GUY!

THE BAD SENTIMENT IS UNDERSTANDABLE

)O(

Why take responsibility for your own actions when you can blame Bush forever and ever for the sickening person you've become?

blame Bush forever and ever for the sickening person HE'S become?

"almost as bad as the Neocons" fuck you, I've never murdered anyone.

... nor has many a neoconservative.

I disagree with them vehemently, but you are dehumanizing them to the nth degree, and that's one of the first tactics fascists tend to employ in regards to their political enemies.

seriously, sod the hell off...

Moralistic relativism is the resource of the intellectually dishonest. Your inane analogy, would be like saying that since fascist incarcerated people, we are no better as a society because we incarcerate convicted murderers.

It takes some massive brass balls to even fucking dare to equate our righteous anger over what these assholes have committed, to the MO of fascism.

I am fucking tired of concern trolls, who come in droves to make sure the feelings of these bastards are preserved. You guys still need to lear that respect is earned, not granted. And death or illness does not wipe your slate clean, every body has to own to what they have done.

And by the way, since I did not force them to invade other countries and kill countless scores of people, torture, and implement their reign of terror. I think they did all their 'dehumanizing' themselves, thank you very much.

Wow

Tyler Durden:
my hero of the day!

You ever have those times where you think of the perfect comeback or exactly what you WANTED to say only an hour after the fact? Well, TD laid it down the way I couldn't this morning (I slept a bit fitfully).

Thank you.

...

CHURCH!

I'm a big fan of C&L and have been for a while but this doesn't advance progressive politics at all. I disagree with everything this man stands for, but please show him respect and take this off the site.

[The post is presented pretty much w/o comment by its author. Reporting on his health isn't disrespectful. Update: The video, I didn't think of it, because I'm not watching it-Sitemonitor]

For good or bad, it is news (like when Kennedy was taken to the hospital).

But whether you want (insert name here) to go to jail or be indicted or to lose their federal post, I wouldnt wish anything PHYSICALLY bad on anybody i disagreed with.

So come on, guys...dont be a dick (or whatever the alternative is...eh, i spend my time online looking through blogs *shrug*)

dick hertz?

and if any blog or respondent wishes him anything but well...then those people are sick

i may disagree with some of his current policy stances, but he has served his community and nation well over the years

our thoughts and prayers need to go out to him and his family

if that is the case...i might agree...its kinda gruesome

He is a public figure, agreed. As he serves the public, his health is potentially news as it may affect public welfare. However, posting the video strikes me as a bit macabre. It can be reported without video. This is a sad, unfortunate event for Mukasey and posting it gives the appearance of enjoying the spectacle. This is just my opinion, but take it down.

Snap out of it. Some people are so sensitive.

... and their sensitivity is usually reserved for the feelings of these scoundrels. Ain't that a bitch.

Hundreds of thousands death, crimes against humanity committed at a grand scale, torture, etc, etc... but the asshole who defends the perpetrators gets indisposed, and oh noes... god forbid we hurt his feelings!

this is a significant event in the history of this horrible administration--and, in particular, the issue of torture. Obama put the torture issue front-and-center in the 60 Minutes interview. Mukasey has been made a significant player in that issue. While the argument can be made that some of the comments (mine included) are not in the best of taste as regards another persons--even an adversary's--misfortune, that doesn't erase the significance of the event for all of us who rue this administration and virtually all of its actions.

he's only a Bush chronie, but in matters of health my thoughts are with him.

It's up to the reader of this comment to determine whether I'm thinking this is a positive or negative (or Negreponte) thing. ;-)

Seriously, I hope that the AG comes through this alive so he can spend the rest of his life thinking about how he's going to burn in hell. :-)

all I could think of was that he collapsed under the weight of all the Bush administration illegal policies that he has refused to investigate. I don't wish Mukasey ill. On the contrary, it must be a terrible burden to carry the water for this illegal activity. Maybe if Mukasey had fulfilled his constitutional duties instead of covering for his administration's criminality, he'd be in better physical shape. Is the mind not connected to the body?

Anyway, we can all wish him well, just as we can wish this country, which has suffered a figurative collapse, well.

We shouldn't wish ill health on even our political enemies; that's not the democratic way.

I'll bet it was the rubber chicken that got him.

unless they got him a special dinner, he wouldnt have joined them in eating the meal

Not wishing ill, just saying, "I DON'T CARE".

I second that.

... you're going out of your way to show that you don't care.

Did you ever stop and consider this conundrum?

No conundrum. I'm trying to throw some cold water on some people. This guy supports torture, war and Bush. Why get all gracious? He's scum.

)O(

Here's something to go with the rubber chicken:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jYyBZE0kBtE

This is bullshit. This is your brain on bullshit.

Any questions?

i hope mr. mukasey has a good health care plan. i am sure given his small government philosophy he opted out of the government provided plan and sought insurance through the vastly superior free market.

Don't worry, that government provided healthcare plan thats provided to him with our tax dollars will take good care of him.

But its terrible for you!

Re:

Karma Police.

mukasey aint dick cheney

lets hope he has a full recovery and stays around long enough to testify against the vampire

that this booshian dick has a conscience?

He has sold out Justice and Humanity in the service of Dick Cheney and his ilk. That makes him a traitor. And Dante put traitors in the lowest circle of Hell.

... the fucking federalist society no less.

If anything, maybe the stroke may have affected his lying reflexes, and not being able to enforce selective subsumption his thought process, maybe just maybe this piece of shit may tell the truth for the first time in his life.

Because if you thought he was going to testify against Cheney pre-stroke, I have a very nice bridge to sell you near primo real estate.

Since it happened while he was giving a speech that was attempting to polish the turd that is the Bush administration. He isn't Cheney but he's another motherfucker that is doing his bidding.

Remember when Justice Roberts collapsed? I think there is a conspiracy theory in there somewhere.

they are all looking for sympathy, especially since a nuremberg or the hague might be in their future?

"The president has him in his thoughts and will be kept apprised and hopes that he will be back up and at 'em again soon."

"'em" is covering the crimes of King George and Co. Sorry, no sympathy, no quarter. This man, by refusing to investigate the Bush crime syndicate, is a criminal.

Accountable only to God and King George, Mukasey was providing cover for the criminals who appointed him by attempting to rewrite history. History itself would have none of it. God Himself couldn't stomach the lies.

This is not "politics". This is not liberals vs. conservatives in a spirited public debate. This is justice vs criminals. In a perverted way, when natural causes take down criminals, it sometimes benefits the criminals. It means they get a free pass. Think Pinochet. Think Milošević. Think Ken Lay.

The "top cop" has destroyed all credibility in law enforcement. Bush made it clear you are either with us or against us. You harbor terrorists, you are a terrorist. You harbor criminals, you are a criminal.

No sympathy for the devil.

I agree. Where would we be if we had "made nice" and shown sympathy and respect to those outside forces who wanted to take our freedoms away from us?

He served his country well? Now we're talking Hitler and the Autobahns.

The man is a criminal. If I thought he (or Bush or Cheney) would be held accountable, I might be inclined to be charitable toward them.

The fact is, I can't hold them accountable and neither will the powers that be.

The best justice we're going to get out of this is happening to him right now and I, for one, hope similar or worse happens to the aforementioned bastards.

)O(

Oh well.

Remember how Maude was always saying, "God is going to get you?" Well, I'm not xian, but I'm going to believe it anyway.

Sorry, no sympathy. How many die because of these people?

If it was you, your health insurance may not pay because of a pre-exisiting condition. (Stress of BushCo lies.)

Evil is evil.

No mercy.

Looks like a small stroke, a little piece of something blocked blood to the brain for a moment. Hope the guy is a daily pot smoker, it protects the brains cells from damage during blood flow loss.

If I can only remember that.

Hate to see anyone get ill but one has to wonder if its karma at work.
Mucks been nothing but a cover for the criminals that hired him. They will all fucking rot in hell sooner or later. I really don't care when they get there though. Im off the hook...LOL

Good god what does karma have anything to do with this? He's an old frail man in poor health who probably had a stroke. My dad is getting old and he had a stroke. Millions of Americans have them every year. Fuck off with your karma.

.

I can't speak for the Colonel but I believe the karmic retribution would be in the timing of the stroke.

C'mon, during a speech about the Dear Leader's policies? Even an atheist could see a little God in that...

I have had members of my family suffer stroke. And yet, I would never equate them and their illness with this piece of shit's.

When vampires die on TV they sometimes burst into flames. I am so waiting for ANY member of the BushCo crime family to go "poof" on national television.

ROTFLMBBAO!!!!!!!!

)O(

Actually it's smoke. It's derived from the bogus sunlight death in Nosferatu: Eine Symphonie Des Grauens.

Dracula was up and about the day several times in the book. But the sunlight death made for a less grusome way of killing vampires, and a touch of special effects, in the early sound cycle.

along with Gonzo. Sadly, that story sunk like a stone.

This just furthers my theory that extreme lying is bad for your health.
Please see Tony Snow.

not in his current condition, thank you.

have you seen the video of palin talking with turkeys being slaughtered in the background? I think what is so intriquing about these videos is the ironic symbolism. With all due respect to mr mukasy and to the turkeys (RIP).
http://www.youtube.com/v/z-kjM1asH-8&color1=0...

WARNING: CONTAINS AUDIO OF SARAH PALIN'S VOICE

I just saw the Palin video and about got sick. It's just seven in the morning, way to early to see something like that. No time is a good time to see something like that. When they told her what was happening behind her and did she want to move, she said no. God, that woman is beyond description.

From the news this morning, it sounds like Mukasy is going to be okay. Good! I cannot wish ill health on anyone no matter who they are.

thought it was a hoot!

She may well be a full blown idiot. Could she be more emotionally out of touch?

I don't think so! any woman who would make women pay for their own rape kits? I don't think so!

"A little levity" while turkeys are being slaughtered? I'm a city boy and I understand there's rural things I don't get, but nothing about that video was cool.

I know I'm supposed to take the high road and not make sport of this, and I truly don't wish ill health on anyone. That said, I can't overlook the karma aspect of this happening where it did.

THIS VIDEO.
Who could blame him.

Collapsing as you're defending torture. Maybe the gods have been paying attention after all.

AP,MSM and CNN all reporting this morning that Hillary will be the next SOS. Obama will make public statement after Thanksgiving.

Shit On Shingle?

Not just for breakfast anymore.

We are better than this. When Senator Kennedy was hospitalized, there was some disparaging remarks made from the right, but there was also some from the right who offered genuine sympathy and their best wishes for Kennedy to make a full recovery.

When Tony Snow passed, I felt a little saddened. I never agreed with what he stood for, but he was a likeable guy. I hope that none of us ever have to go through what he and his family had to endure, but if that were the case, I for one would wish to have just the tiniest bit of resolve and determination to face his personnal crisis that he showed to the public day after day.

Regardless of Left or Right, death is the great equalizer.

Dr. King's logic of judging a person on the quality of their character can be applied to so many other aspects in life other than race relations. So I ask what kind of character are we showing here?

For a lot longer than the last eight years, our nation has been so bitterly divided, with both sides pointing the finger at the other. It's time to set the differences aside and start working together, because it's not just a personnal crisis, this time, but a national crisis that we all must face together as one American people.

I sincerley wish Michael Mukasey a full recovery and I wish him and his family well.

Abu Ghraib.

I'm not going to pretend to have sympathy for someone with mukasy's record.

I can watch it as casually as he struck down people's rights with the stroke of a pen or a gavel.

Check his record.

)O(

Have sympathy for his family then.

My mother had about 4 heart attacks and three strokes. The last one got her. She was 46 years old.

I can see, Kennedy, and this piece of shit... same thing really.

Actually, we are judging this person on the quality of his character: and it so happens that his character stinks to high heavens.

It is so much easier to blame the victims, than to tackle proactively the unpleasant aspects of enforcing justice and retribution on the perpetrators. Right?

Snow died from Cancer. Atwater died. Ken Lay died. Cheney is only alive through the greatest advancments in cyborg technology. Now MuSCUMMY is having a body break down. Doing evil, especially at an old age can take it's toll.

... in a long enough time scale, every body dies.

If anything, these assholes live waaaay past their allocated time slot.

It is the good ones who usually die before their prime.

This is what happens when you install at the head of the DOJ a guy who had the sense to retire years ago.

I hope the AG is going to be okay. Sure, he's not my fav. guy, but I think it's tasteless to ridicule the man's illness. Luckily, someone caught him before he fell and hit his head too. I wish him good health.

When I was a young man there was a sheriff in our county that for some reason had it in for me.
Any time he saw me he stopped me and harrassed me.
One of my best friends brother was a lawyer and I talked to him each and every time something happened.
He told me that he thought we had enough to get him impeached, but if we tried and failed then he would probably make it worse on me and since he had less then six months to go we should just try to get through it. I said when he was no longer sheriff that I thought I would beat the crap out of him.
When he was no longer sheriff I was at a gas station early in the morning on my way to work when low and behold here is the exsheriff so drunk he could not even pull his car off the street.
I watched and thought about all the trouble he had caused for me in the previous four years. But felt to sorry for him to hit him besides he was so out of it he didn't know what was going on anyway.
later that day at work one of the guys at work ask me if I had seen the paper today I said no. He said your buddy is in there. It seems that he and another fellow had tried to extort money from a company that had trucks traveling through our county. You know the kind of pay us or we will stop and write all your trucks tickets and cost you much more then paying them.
The company agreed and then contacted the FBI and they were there for the first payment.

The moral is what goes around comes around and I didn't have to do anything myself to make it happed.

I hope we hear a lot of karmic happenings for the bush people they deserve it!

wholeheartedly!

that is tough to watch. I hope he recovers quickly.

Hate and fear lead people and peoples to behave poorly.

...as disgust. Disgust with a person who is one of a long line of disgusting persons. Perhaps he's being made to bear, in our forum here, a greater Karmic burden than is just. But he knew what the territory was the day he decided to step into it.

I don't know what the man's views are, but if he's Observant, there's a very good chance that his uncritical view of torture is related to an uncritical view of of Zionism.

Neither illness nor death erase what you did in health.

Looked and sounded like a stroke. As despicable a creature as Mukasey has turned out to be, I hope he recovers quickly.

and I certainly wouldn't wish him anymore discomfort or stress than he advocates for others.

...you would mean the people who've been tortured in Gitmo and elsewhere, right?

What goes around, >>>>>>>>>>>, People should not be so passive, less they be fools. Send him some flowers and hope he is treated well at "Walter Reed Army Medical Center".

On a purely human level, I feel some empathy and wish him and his family the best. Recover swiftly, Mukasey; you are a nominal improvement on your disgraced predecessor.

On the other hand, you were at the Federalist Society (a conservative group that allegedly values judicial restraint) defending Bush's lawless record of extraordinary rendition, torture, the politicization of the Justice Department, and the surveillance state. So once you're feeling better, please accept a sincere and hardy fuck you.

I'll sign that Get Well card!

to the fullest extent of the law. If there is any justice, he'll get to spend the rest of his miserable life rotting away in jail.

The fool was standing at the podium thinking of all the war crimes he was a co-conspirator of and the facts overwhelmed him.

... probably poor diet got to him eventually.

Sometimes we really wish these people really did have something resembling humanity, but it is just us fooling ourselves.

There is no karma, there is no cosmic retribution, or crap like that. That is just shit people invented to justify their passivity.

He'll probably make a quick recovery, and he will be back to print out those pardons en masse for the Bush cabal in no time. And then, in a short while they will all laugh at our collective faces from their retirement homes somewhere in the tropics. And I am sure we will have to continue enduring yet another wave of holier than thou people, who have to remind us what a bunch of insensitive pricks we are.

That's rough for anyone...

)O(

I know what I want my tombstone to say when I check out, "Instead of my mortal coil, I'd rather shuffle off to Buffalo,"

Or

"You mean that was it?"

Maybe we need to put it up to a vote.

And a speedy recovery to the AG.
Wishing someone ill will just ain't cool.
Now, Bush and Cheney are a different story. And I still don't wish them ill will. I'm patient.

If you can't wish Mukasey well for any other reason, you should at least be able to wish him good health so that he will be competent to defend himself at trial. Whether he is guilty in God's eyes, and what punishment that guilt might merit, is none of our business. But he has offended our law, and seeing that he pays for that by the processes of our law is our business, and should be the only quarrel we have with him.

and my prayers are being answered.

Is Mukasey ill? or is he faking it?!?!?

They should waterboard him NOW, in the hospital, to make sure he's okay.

is one of the defenders of official torture.

I have little sympathy for Mukasey or Gonzales or Pinochet for that matter.

To the bleeding hearts blogging on this site... THE REPUGS LOVE YOU!

)O(

Death's favorite toy when he was a rug rat.

I can say without hyperbole that far too many of you make me absolutely sick. It's revolting to see these supposed progressives and peacemongers relishing in the illness and pain of another human being.

I don't care if you disagree with him politically; I don't care what team he plays for. It's no excuse to dehumanize someone -- to become something no better than what you allegedly hate. I can't believe how disconnected we have become, that we feel no shame in anonymously kicking someone when they're down, like the absolute cowards we are.

And someone above had the gall to say that their 'prayers were being answered.' Well, I hope not, because if there is a God, He'd better not be the kind to answer prayers by those wishing disease upon their political enemies. It's disgusting.

At least now you should be able to understand the hate from the Phelps family, eh? And all of the others you like to condemn because of their hateful preaching? You're two sides of the same coin. I'm sure you'll offer countless rationalizations about your differences but the bile is the same -- the motivations as petty and cruel.

I used to like to think that liberals were the ones who more often obeyed the Golden Rule (and I'm an atheist), but clearly it's more about an-eye-for-an-eye.

but it is difficult for me to feel any sympathy for these Bush Junta henchmen and henchwomen.

There have been times in the last eight years when I wondered how soon the disappearances would start.

I've watched while almost every member of my family lost their jobs.

I've watched my country's military co opted for the profit of the executive branch and it's cronies, while over a million have been butchered in the name of FREE-DUMB.

I would no more feel any sympathy toward Mukasey than I would Heinrich Himmler.

I was right there with ya and then you lumped us all together at the end. I am thinking you were just getting wound up by the passion of your post. I don't think it's at all clear that liberals are all about "an eye for an eye" based just on this one thread.

I have to tell you, however, that I will NEVER understand the Phelps family.
;)

Don't worry because it works both ways, it is the moralistic relativism that some of you concern peddlers are using to get their panties all twisted up that I find sickening.

And don't you fucking dare compare us with the Phelps family, OK?

If little chicken shit pieces of work like you would put the same energy in opposing the policies enforced by Mukasey before his "incident." As you seem to spend in defending his sorry recently "health challenged" canister, we would live in a much better place.

I am a liberal. But there will be a cold day in hell before I get to respect those who advocate and defend harm and destruction on my fellow man, just because they become suddenly indisposed.

It is assholes like you who use the suffering of innocent people, to shield the guilty as innocent just because they happen to start suffering for once in their lives.

It's very hard to feel any sympathy for those who have aided and abetted this Administration and the pain they have inflicted on so many. Yes, many of us are angry and you're fooling yourself if you think it's so easy to see past our own pain and feel compassion when one of these thugs gets served a little karmic justice.

At least this man doesn't have to worry about whether or not he'll get medical treatment. I haven't had health insurance for nearly 8 years since corporate robber barons were emboldened by having one of their own in the White House. If I collapsed today, my family would find itself in an instant situation wondering how we were going to pay for it. I would receive lesser care because I have no insurance. For all I know, I could have a treatable terminal illness right now, but I'd rather not know because there's not a damned thing I could do about it anyway.

Don't ask me to feel pity for collaborators in the downfall of America.

.I wonder, is he doing a "DAVE" moment where the president collapses during a speech?,

wishing and cheering ill health on someone is just bad karma, no matter who it is.

Just sayin'...

But I think I can also be forgiven if I save my sympathy reserves for someone else. I just can't get worked up about it.

However, that video was nauseating. Seeing him go down like that tapped my inner empathy in spite of who he his or with whom he associates.

doesn't cover illnesses. I wish him no harm. I would hate to be him, the weight of his participation in the bush regime almost killed him.

The stress of supporting and doing the dirty work of the criminal Bush regime has broken Mukasey.

Yup, that bad karma has a way of catching up with you.

The story now is 'it was all nothing, there is nothing wrong with his brain or his heart!"

Ok, well what the fuck happened then? Nothing? They can tell us anything, it makes no difference. But in the immortal words of Hitchens "If you gave him an enema, you could bury him in a matchbox".

)O(

Putting aside any opinion about karma and such, at least this incident means Obama won't be tempted to keep Mukasey on his staff.

Funny thing...C&L's moderators were quick to silence and commentary about Tim Russert, yet people here have said far worse about Mukasey and the list is long. Any particular reason for that (and not just because Mukasey isn't dead)?

[This went up late last night. We aren't here 24/7. No one has flagged anything for us to look at. Why? If you're going to moan about inaction on our part, how about helping out instead? Sheesh. Update. Notice you got busy up there Chopvac, and having reviewed both threads, this hasn't got a glimmer of a sliver of a piece of a patch on the Russert thread-Sitemonitor]

Episodes like this often change people for the better . . .

It won't bring back all the dead Iraqi children, or re-unite families. He has that to consider. Will he?

"The Attorney General is conscious, conversant and alert. His vital statistics are strong and he is in good spirits. He is receiving excellent care and appreciates all of the good wishes and prayers he has received. The doctors will keep him overnight for further observations."

They should give this bush scum the same medical treatment many americans get.

"The AG has been placed under the care of an incompetent resident. He has been over medicated, weak, and is in bad spirits. The quality of his care is questionable and of poor quality despite best wishes and prayers. The doctors will keep him so they can continue administering medications that are not needed and only provide observations that keep the hospital from being successfully sued over malpractice."
