Fox News is always trying to find something in which to taint President Obama with scandal and his economic speech after the Navy shipyard shooting is their latest lame attempt at it. Megyn Cut Out II, Martha MacCallum, led off a segment on America Live today along with Fox's Chris Stirewalt about how Obama was such a meanie to the GOP and should he even given a speech after the attack at the Navy yard.

MacCallum: At the end of the day, questions were being asked whether it is really the right time to be launching partisan attacks...

Krauthammer: The president in that speech was back to hyper-partisan attacks, slashing Republicans...I thought it was in extremely bad taste...it could have waited until tomorrow.

Hume: The president tends to engage in partisan attacks from the platform of the White House more than any other president I could ever remember. Usually when a president does this, it's vague. You speak of those-who-this, some who say and all of that. He's talking about the party and he attacks it with regularity. I don't think it's particularly attractive.

Stirewalt: There was an attack and people were wondering if this is terrorism. People were looking for answers. It showed us a window into some insight into the psyche of the administration.

Megyn Cut Out II: You have to go inside the room in your head because you know somebody had to say something to the president. Mr. President, do you think we should go ahead with the speech today or not? And yet, Jay Carney at the news conference said--as you pointed out in your piece, Chris--said they never considered postponing that speech. Let's remind everybody what we said in the intro. This is while the manhunt is going on, schools were still in lockdown and for all we know at this point, there was two shooters out there.

How dare the president speak the truth about Republicans?! It's hyper-partisanship, I tell you!!! How dare he single them out for using the economic collapse to slash and burn the government and our economy? The only people who are questioning Obama are Fox News employees.

David Frum posted a series of tweets yesterday explaining the rules anti-gun control nuts have for the reformers and it's good. Fox News and conservative activists have their own rules too about what's appropriate to say after a mass shooting (since they have become so common) and the newest cardinal rule is that you must suspend all talk of blame or politics (if applicable) until at least 24-48 hours have passed. That rule has now been expanded into how Obama should never address the media about anything else other than the tragedy at hand. You know that if Obama cancelled his economic speech, Republicans would have complained that he looked weak in the face of this horrific event and he should have gone on with his planned to speech to show strength.

Fox News, creating controversy and scandals even when there aren't any.
