Even after his reporter effectively heckled President Barack Obama during an official statement last week, Daily Caller founder Tucker Carlson says that it's inconceivable that his publication would not get a White House press pass.

"Here's the White House's mistake," Fox News co-host Bob Beckel told Carlson on Monday. "The idea that they gave The Daily Caller a White House pass is the craziest idea I've ever heard."

"We're bigger than the Chicago Tribune!" Carlson objected. "We're bigger than the Boston Globe. They can't not give us a pass!"

"Sure they can," Beckel pointed out. "All you got to do is not give one."

"Good luck with that," Carlson grumbled.

Even conservative Fox News host Sean Hannity admitted that Neil Munro's "timing was off" when he interrupted Obama's announcement about new immigration policy on Friday.

"The bottom line is he's doing what a lot of people who cover the White House aren't doing, which is pressing for answers to his questions," Carlson explained.

"Shouldn't he wait?" Hannity wondered. "If he thought it was the end of the statement, fine. It didn't seem like it was at the end of the statement."

"It's an etiquette question, but it's not the core question," Carlson opined. "The core question is, is the White House Press corps holding the president accountable for his policies and getting answers to the questions the public wants? And Neil Munro is."

"How many times has Obama been interrupted in the middle of one of his speeches by someone calling out a compliment?" he asked. "Like 13 times in the past six months. He stops and says, thank you. The second someone asks a question he doesn't like, 'Oh, it's heckling. It's an outrage.'"

Stephen Colbert had a bit of fun with El Presidente Barack Obama for his "shocking" new policy where he's now "thrown open America's doors to people who already here" with his administrations newly announced policy of halting deportations for young undocumented immigrants.

COLBERT: This of course replaces our long standing policy of not deporting them if they were really good at baseball. This is shocking folks. This is shocking! [...] Now we can expect a steady stream of preexisting, born into their present locations.

After showing clips of Tim Pawlenty, Lindsey Graham and Karl Rove carping about President Obama using this as nothing but a "cynical political move" Colbert pointed out that President Obama needs to do something about November and that 43 point lead he's "barely clinging to" with Latino voters.

After noting that even Bloody Bill Kristol, George Will and Matt Dowd said this was the right thing for the President to do, Colbert noted "Fine but, the President's not supposed to do anything in an election year. Let alone the right thing. Now maybe I'm a conspiracy theorist, but I'm beginning to think Barack Obama is trying to get reelected. You don't see Republicans cynically pandering to Latinos like this."

Cue the RNC's Latino outreach page with stock photos of Asian children and Mitt Romney touting self-deportation during one of the Republican debates.

COLBERT: Yes, if Mitt Romney is elected, illegals will self-deport. In fact, some Americans might even join them. But folks, that's how effective... that's how effective the policy will be.

Colbert followed up with a bit mocking Neil Munro from Tucker Carlson's rag, The Daily Caller, for interrupting the President when he was announcing this policy during his press conference and pretending he didn't realize President Obama wasn't done talking and some "footage" of Colbert supposedly joining Munro at the press conference as well and heckling the President.

CNN host Don Lemon on Sunday suggested that Daily Caller reporter Neil Munro may not have heckled President Barack Obama last week if the commander-in-chief had not been black.

Munro claimed on Friday that he had thought the president had finished delivering an official statement on immigration policy when he began yelling questions in the White House Rose Garden. But as CNN's Howard Kurtz noted, "[H]e kept on talking while the president was trying to speak."

"Neil Munro, how dare you?" Lemon asked on Sunday, noting that Daily Caller founder Tucker Carlson had defended Munro by saying that former ABC reporter Sam Donaldson had also shouted questions at President Ronald Reagan.

For his part, Donaldson told The Washington Post that he never treated Reagan in the way that Munro had disrespected Obama.

"I never interrupted any president while he was making a formal presentation of any sort," Donaldson explained.

"Many on the political right believe this president ought not to be there – they oppose him not for his polices and political view but for who he is, an African American!" the retired correspondent added in an email to The Huffington Post.

On Sunday, Lemon thanked Donaldson for pointing out what he called "the elephant in the Rose Garden."

"We also respect the office of the presidency just as we respect the courage of a man or a woman who dons a uniform to fight for our country," Lemon continued. "As a journalist, I know there are ways to get my question answered. It may not always be on the timeline I want, but there is always a way to do it."

The CNN host concluded: "And, Mr. Munro, interrupting the leader of the free world at the White House in the front of an international audience is not the way. And quite frankly, you are the one who should be asking and answering a whole lot of questions of yourself."

Daily Caller contributor Matt Lewis on Sunday said that his colleague, reporter Neil Munro, "did the right thing" by shouting at President Barack Obama during an official statement about immigration policy.

For his part, Munro claimed he had thought the president had finished speaking when he began yelling questions in the White House Rose Garden on Friday.

"But he kept on talking while the president was trying to speak," CNN's Howard Kurtz told Lewis on Sunday.

"A little bit about Neil Munro: He's actually an Irish immigrant himself, he was with the National Journal for a decade," Lewis explained. "He's a seasoned reporter, and I think if you put it in context, President Obama -- first of all, the policy bypasses Congress..."

"No, no, no," Kurtz interrupted. "Would you have done what he did? Was he wrong?"

"There was going to be no question and answer [after the president's remarks]," Lewis shot back. "This was the only chance he had to ask a question. The press corps should be a little bit less deferential to authority and a little more aggressive."

"He had no business interrupting the president," Kurtz explained. "This is not a question of being deferential. ... Come on."

"Where in the Constitution does it say that you can't ask questions?" Lewis asked, raising his voice. "This is protocol and it's etiquette, but it's not constitutional. He did the right thing."

"I understand you have to defend your guy, but that's a pretty ludicrous answer," Kurtz concluded.
