Still reeling from the presidential election results, Mr. Burns takes a few minutes to explain the upcoming fiscal cliff.

Montgomery Burns: "Think of the economy as a car and the rich man as the driver. If you don’t give the driver all the money, he’ll drive you over a cliff. It’s just common sense."

The Simpsons had a bit of fun Sunday night with Fox News and the interminable Republican presidential race.

Homer Simpson becomes America's newest favorite cable news pundit when network executives spy his talent, as an “an ill-informed gas bag that networks cannot get enough of." True, how true. And it's probably just a coincidence I'm sure that Homer's Gut Check! bears a striking resemblance to the Glenn Beck Show.

Later on in the episode, Homer dismisses the six white guys remaining in the Republican race and pines momentarily for Chris Christie, then considers voting for the Democrats because as he says, without a hint of irony: "Maybe I'll vote Democrat. The great thing is, when they get in they act like Republicans." Homer (slash, Glenn Beck) comes to his senses though and instead endorses Ted Nugent.

As Herman Cain's "campaign" descends further and further into self-parody what were once seen as amusing lapses just become yet more dispiriting evidence that Cain is not a serious candidate for anything, as Rachel Maddow continues to document.

From this morning's Daily Rundown, Chris Cilliza notes the similarity of Herman Cain's speech with President Arnold Schwarzenegger in The Simpson's Movie.

Fox News' Bill O'Reilly got his revenge on The Simpsons Monday but didn't deny the charge that his network is popular with racists.

On Sunday's episode of the long-running cartoon series, a Fox News helicopter carrying a network executive reads, "Fox News: Not Racists, But #1 With Racists."

After the Fox News executive steps out of the helicopter into the head of the Statue of Liberty, the aircraft goes into a tailspin and crashes. The pilot can be heard saying, "It's not fair, we're unbalanced."

The executive conducts a secret meeting where his team plans a new health care scare that will send their ratings through the roof.

Gawker called The Simpsons episode one of the most anti-Republican ever.

The Simpsons is aired by the Fox broadcast network. Newscorp owns the Fox broadcast network as well as Fox News Channel.

"Continuing to bite the hand that feeds part of it, Fox broadcasting once again allows its cartoon characters to run wild," O'Reilly complained on his Monday show.

"Pinheads? I believe so," O'Reilly concluded.
