On yesterday's radio show Limbaugh weighed in on whether Christie was conservative enough. Not too surprisingly Limbaugh said he was not, comparing him to McCain.

RUSH LIMBAUGH: My friends, do not doubt me. I know this is going to shock many of you, and maybe disappoint a lot of you. But when you talk about the Republican establishment -- and you've read their pieces today -- you know what I'm talking about: The columnists, the magazine directors, editors, publishers, whatever, they are reaching and searching for a counter to the conservatives. They don't want Herman Cain getting the nomination; they don't want Perry getting the nomination; they don't want Bachmann getting the nomination. The Republican establishment does not want a conservative getting the nomination. If Chris Christie can come along, catch fire, see to it that Palin, Bachmann -- Palin not in, she might get in, who knows, doubt it, but still too soon to say -- if they can co-opt any conservative getting the nomination, they will do it.

Nothing's changed. "But, Rush, but, Rush, Christie's a big conservative." I will reserve my comments for later on in the program. I'll just give you one little hint. I heard a lot of John McCain in that speech. Well, maybe not a lot, but I heard enough to send up a red flag or two.

Later on Limbaugh said:

Herman Cain is a conservative that worries them. Rick Perry is a conservative that worries them. Bachmann is a conservative that worries them. Santorum is a conservative that worries them. Reagan was a conservative that worried the Republican establishment. Christie is not.

This small running battle between the GOP establishment ("the elites") and the hardliners who make up Limbaugh listeners and the Tea Party crowd will be the dynamic tension within that party for the next year.

(h/t to Real Clear Politics for the clip)

Pfffttt, John McCain is more sane than any of them. That's funny, right?

Rush Limbaugh is best described by Bill Hicks.

Yeah, Rush... he's maybe a little bit less fascistic than you and those you influence, and we know that little bit means so much.

One reason why the Teabaggers will not vote for Christie is he appointed a Muslim Sharia loving judge.
.

Sharia Law business is just crap… and I’m tried of dealing with the crazies

He is talking about the Teabaggers and they are not going to like being called crazy by their candidate.

nominee, 'Baggers would fall in line. 'Woods stick with 'Woods.

Or not go to the pols at all or maybe Palin will run as a third party candidate. Unfortunately that wont happen but the Teabaggers not showing up could happen. Just like Obama's base not showing up if they think he is going to continue to stroke the right wing.

Who is Rush Limbaugh to speak of "the Republican establishment" and "the elites", as if he isn't the primary member of that establishment?

Crazy Annie Coulter seems to have a love jones for Christie, but then she doesn't carry the same weight in conservative crazy land as she used to. What got me about this clip was Rush was still hedging his bets on whether or not Palin would run. No, Rush, she won't. Anyone even slightly adroit at reading the political tea leaves could have told you that months ago.

Paul the Sax Guy's picture

Hmmm... if the rumors about Ann Coulter are true, there's a whole lot of sexual strangeness in that statement... don't care if she's a guy or not... the gay doesn't matter, but Christie? Puhleeze... methinks there's a whole text on sexual pathology right there....

Leaving aside the repulsive visual... they could even take Limbaugh along for a threesome... who cares, as long as the 3 were on that uninhabited island...

Hell, take the rest of the right wing along and have a good ol' time...

Then the decent people in this country might be able to get something positive done...

Just happened to flash on a cartoon I saw shortly after the Three-Mile Island fiasco...

A lady was admiring the son of a friend, "Why, he's grown a foot since I last saw him!"

And, sure enough, there was a tootsie sprouting out of the kid's head...

The tea baggers would question if he was conservative enough. After all he called his party "socialist".

It looks to me like they all worship the monied elite, including Cain and Perry and Bachmann. I have no evidence to suggest otherwise. All I hear is sympathy and praise for the rich and complaining about the poor. Which candidate is better? One is about the same as the other to me.

..Boss Limbaugh just dumped all over Romney.

Boss didn't mention Romney because Romney "doesn't worry them." Romney is the establishment candidate Boss Limbaugh can't abide.

This has nothing to do with Chris Christie.

This has everything to do with Boss Limbaugh shitting all over Romney.

And that move on Boss's part puts him @ direct odds with Fixed News, since Romney is the unofficial Fixed News candidate.

Roger Ailes vs. Boss Limbaugh will be a fun fight to watch.

Rush is getting soft. He didn't bash Christie. If he wanted to bash Christie he'd call him a communist, socialist , MOOSLIM LOVER. Christie spoke up for a judge in his state that was a Muslim. I had my hearing checked that day just to be sure . Sure enough he did. Now if that isn't enough to make TeaChoads do the St. Vitas Dance till rotten teeth litter the dance floor I don't know what will. What Rush really wants to say is Christie is not RACIST enough.

Until the principled conservatives (assuming, for the sake of argument, that they actually exist these days) finally denounce en masse the rantings of Limbaugh and the rest of the traitors, I will consider all Republicans the same as they. Silence, especially in this case, implies complicity.

Rush Limbaugh is a fat bag of wind ... in a class by itself! His ranting and raving made him a wealthy man!
Is the getting rich trick ... able to get air space for opinionated, loud, nasty, prescription drug infested, fat slob.
You would think by this time he would be long gone ... but no! It is so very obvious he attracts the pathetic sick creeps making him rich and more rich! Who, but .. the weak would bother listening to him!!!
It strikes a cord when I hear HIM critical of everyone else!!!!!!!
