One of the foremost business investors on the planet doesn't know much about capitalism, according to Governor Goodhair of Texas.

ANDREW SORKIN, CNBC: Governor Perry, real quick. Warren Buffett is going to be in New York tomorrow for an Obama fund-raiser. Curious about your thoughts on the Buffet Rule.

Gov, RICK PERRY: I think it's right down to the real problem that we've got in Washington, D.C. an administration that is listening to people who really don't have an understanding about what's going on out there in the real world. you think -- I respect -- I think Mr. Buffet is a really intelligent individual. I can promise you he doesn't know what's going on in places that where the job creation is at a zero because of overtaxation and overregulation. Dodd-Frank is strangling the small community banks across america. It needs to be repealed. We need to get Washington out of the business of overregulation. It's killing our country.

ANDREW SORKIN: Taxing millionaires? Do you believe ultimately is going to kill jobs?

GOV. RICK PERRY: I think taxing millionaires is such a fake way to talk about what's going on in this country.

I saw this yesterday and Perry wasn't much better at expressing himself than he was at the last debate. I doubt he has a freakin' clue what he's talking about or what he's even saying. They also had our infamous governor Rick Scott on the same show with them. It was almost too much to stomach. It was like stupid squared.

Say what you mean. Mean what you say. But don't say it mean.

What a pandering prostitute. Deregulation and no oversight is the answer to your economy's woes. The level of incompetantcy in your politicians has truly reached mythic proportions.

Less than a prostitute knows about dick, apparently. We all know prostitutes know nothing about dick.

Yeah, that's for sure. When i showed my dick to an prostitute she died laughing. Sure was weird to explain it to the cops.

IE; prostitutes are dicks. :/

..bashing Warren Buffett is the newest teabagger trend.

Warren Buffett has suddenly gone populist in his beliefs, & the Ayn Rand worshipers can't abide such a flagrant breach of protocol from a "job creator."

Mr. Buffett has often times "gone off the reservation" in his economic views. Its one of the reasons he was removed as then candidate Schwarzenegger's economic adviser when he said that California needed to get rid of Prop 13. This is what drives the economic "conservatives" nuts.

Since Buffet is so clueless maybe Goober Perry could clue him into the big money-maker "insider trading".

Of course taxing millionaires costs jobs, silly! If millionaires' taxes are increased, even the tiniest bit, no one will want to become a millionaire. Thousands of millionaire jobs will lie vacant. Whole millionaire ghettos will be abandoned, to become homeless squats. It would be tragic.

fitley's picture

Wow Perry really schooled Buffet. That's like Trig schooling Einstein.

After all of the devastation wrought upon the middle-class and those who have never even sniffed a living wage, the Republicans choose the uber-rich to protect?

And the corporate media keeps treating this as a reasonable position?

And, sadly, pulpits across America will echo the travesty.

I can suss out the reason why millionaire newscasters bow pressure to ignore the absurdity. But how can ministers tell their concregants that God wants them to vote for those who want them to retire later so others can get a tax break on their jets.

Since talking and taxing are two completely different activities that 'Ol Hairy Perry is either a nervous talker or his intellect falters easily as this sentence reveals no context whatsoever.

MO-Mike's picture

I agree with Governor Dipstick, "I can promise you he doesn't know what's going on in places that where the job creation is at a zero because of overtaxation and overregulation."

I don't think Buffet has the slightest idea what's going on in those places. You know, Oz, NeverNeverLand, the Red Queen's kingdom... I don't know of ANYWHERE job creation is at zero for those reasons. There are plenty of places it's at zero because no one is buying anything because they're broke, but overtaxed and overregulated? Hell no.

Simply breath-takingly stupid.

Rick fucking Perry is telling us that Warren Buffett knows nothing about the economy?

Warren Buffett forgets more each day than Rick Perry has ever known. Jimmy Buffett knows more about the economy than Rick Perry.

"Dodd-Frank is strangling the small community banks across america. It needs to be repealed."

Really? Must be because of the actions of that Consumer Financial Protection Bureau that Elizabeth Warren was supposed to have started, but who still doesn't have a confirmed chair.

What is it about current Texas voters (the late Molly Ivins excluded) and politicians (Ann Richards excluded) that makes them so fucking stupid?

I used to think it was the yee-haw, good ol' boy factor, but I'm leaning more towards something in the water....

Even LBJ, as criticized as he was for Vietnam, at least had the political and moral sense to work for social programs for the middle class and the poor. He came up as a politician during the Depression and saw the hopelessness around him and worked to DO something about it. Not only that, years later, he knew all the dirty secrets in the Senate and House and learned to use that to leverage Republicans and recalcitrant Southern Democrats.

As a Vietnam vet, I should be angry at him for the war, but it really started in the Eisenhower era, and got passed to him when Kennedy died. McNamara and the military/industrialists conjured up the war to keep their profits rolling in, they had no conception of what the real insurgency in Vietnam was about and spent billions fighting an unconventional war with conventional tactics.

"Well, I think those Jews and those A-rabs should sit down and settle their differences in a Christian manner."

biff's picture

is Perry speaking of? In my neck of the woods all we have left are large multi-state chained banks. We do have credit unions' Are credit unions being strangled? I believe the problem with the large banks was brought on by their money managers investing in junk mortgages but not to worry. They are solving this problem by laying off front line employees. Will work like a charm but don't try resolving any issues over they phone, you will be put on hold for an hour at a time like ATT customers are now when they try to resolve any of ATT's many mistakes. Hey, if we deregulate some more maybe we can harken back to the glorious days of the Savings and Loans Crisis.

Fascinating to see the GOP take this turn - after spending DECADES telling the American people that businessmen know how to run government (and the richer they are, the MOAR they know), they're now resorting to the "No True Scotsman" defense...

WTF is he talking about?!?! The Dodd Frank act is a toothless undefined piece of shit that does NOTHING! Proof is in the fact the banks are starting charge people for just using their ATM cards as well as other fees! NOTHING HAS CHANGED! Let these piece of shit banks fail people! Too big fail?! My ass! Too big and corrupt to live!

Taxes is a disingenuous argument! Raise them! Fine! Go ahead! by all means do it! Anyone who thinks that is going to solve the massive issues we have is smoking their front yard. You'll get to see in just a few years we're no better off then before taxes we're raised.

There are only 2 paths now. Restructure the debt, a.k.a. default. Or war and the winner takes all.
