Rep. Aaron Schock (IL-18) took his turn at spouting Republican talking points on Morning Joe, with the need to extend all the Bush Tax Cuts. When asked by Pat Buchanan on where Republicans could compromise to ensure that they reach a deal with Democrats before the Bush Tax Cuts expire at the end of the year, Schock's answer -- full extension for all of them -- leaves both Buchanan and Eugene Robinson laughing out loud at the young congressman.

And Schock does look a bit red-faced, of course, but he has no idea how foolish his response sounds to non-Republicans, because in Republican Land tax cuts always create prosperity and jobs (except for the dismal, almost no job creation during the Bush years). And that extending all the Bush tax cuts won't add to the deficit because the tax cuts will magically spur the economy, in some fairytale Republicans tell themselves. And never mind that the national debt nearly doubled under George Bush with unfunded and misguided tax cuts, Medicaid Part D, two wars, etc. That's yesterday's news. Today it's the Democrats who are the fiscally irresponsible ones, left trying to clean up after the Bush disaster.

And this comes from supposedly one of the best and brightest of that crowd who'll run the House in the new year. It boggles the mind. Whenever someone asks a straight-forward question from them they get a load of hogwash which should be greeted with scorn and ridicule, because their answers are ridiculous, but for whatever reasons they're treated as serious people when all the evidence is to the contrary.

...you've gotta kick some asshole in their fucking teeth...he has no business being Prez. He should have been dirtnapping these evil selfish bastards from day one instead he continues to hopelessly attempt to win brownie points in redneckville.

I don't think Obama has ever been in a fight in his life.

Is it really possible for anyone to reach the office of the presidency with such level of naivety?

Because after 2 years of him being in office the benefit of the doubt (or our denial which is probably most likely in this case) is starting to wear mighty thin. At this point I can only draw 3 conclusions: either he is really naive and not a fast learner, he is way too weak and unwilling to stand for anything which requires him to put skin in the game, or he is getting exactly what he wants.

I am sorry to say that none of those conclusions are "positive" and as usual, here is to hoping I am wrong.

YES! just see the reverse of the coin "is it really possible id still be on television if i were making stuff up?" - Glenn Beck.

one side very naive and the other completely detached from reality. and yes both are still in their positions notwithstanding, and the outcome on both sides is bad for everyone else. in Obamas case because nothing will get done til he takes a cup of concrete, and in Becks case because noone will call him out - and even worse people will believe his unchallenged screeds and parrot it off to the rest of the world. as for the three ques Beck certainly is getting what he wants; on Obama i really am not sure which of the three applies or if theres an option D) that does, its not really clear to me.

what is clear is things are indeed wearing thin for those who put so much stake in him in 08, and if he wants to get somewhere he cant bank political capital and hope the GOP implode - despite their best efforts of the last 2 years they havent yet, so its time to quit waiting for what you want to happen and go out and start *making* it happen instead. if he doesnt, stick a fork in 'im. and start looking for a nation that wont be so batshit insane for the next 4 years, cos being an US resident doesnt promise to be pretty - regardless of affiliation - if he becomes a 1 term president.

There isn't one Republican who will speak for themselves... Or at least that is what I think. Surely there must be one who will tell the truth and say that the tax breaks for the filthy rich are not going to create jobs. Jobs will be created when people start spending more money and the filthy rich are already spending as much as they are going to spend. I just wonder how they keep all these assholes in line. What kind of blackmail do they use?

My very own Congressman. What I found so sad was that he didnt even have to campaign for reelection, so assured was his victory. This kid, who is the youngest Repug in the House, is being groomed for a Presidential run someday, I can almost guarantee you that. The IL-18 has not had a Democrat for over a hundred years represent it, so his job is secure until that day comes. Until then, little Aaron has to remind his fellow Repugs that it is okay to be gay, and by the time he is seasoned enough for his Presidential run, I'm sure the GOP will be fully embracing homosexuality as a lifestyle choice. Until then, little Aaron has to stay in the closet

"And this comes from supposedly one of the best and brightest of that crowd who'll run the House in the new year."

I live in this arrogant bastard's district too and he ain't the best nor the brightest. On the contrary, he is an extreme right wing phony that puts on a wafer thin veneer of respectability. I was at one of his "town halls" once and it was like going to a Klan or 9-12er gathering. Of the 900 people there there was not one non white person there. I was surprised that they weren't waving Confederate flags and firing off pistols.

He is a pre programmed Neocon android that robotically spouts the party line. I also remember his encounter with Rachel Maddow where she put this flagrant phony in his place. Dumbass Doogie Howzer was majorly outclassed in that interview. And if Pat Buchanan laughs in your face at your comment boy, do you have a problem.

He might be the golden boy in IL-18 but outside of here he is just another worthless GOP hack. I voted for the Green Party candidate in the last election, he was a friend of mine that actually believed in principled leadership and integrity. Aaron Schock believes in himself and the clusterfuck called the GOP.

He looks like a fetus. And he looks like he doesn't know what hit him when Buchanan & Robinson laugh at him and his confusion of "compromise" with "victory". Typical Republican cognitive dissonance, living in his own private Idaho.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Rs also intend to groom Marco Rubio for President.

bmw 528's picture

Indeed he lives in his own private and insular world and is utterly clueless outside it. Pat Buchanan laughing at him is priceless. What a politically naive dope Schock is.

Looks like a fetus--LOL, good one.

how many people whose unemployment checks are not coming are happy they voted 'republican'....to quote my dad "any working man that votes republican,is as stupid as the day is long"

....the fools do not realize,a population that can ,..... not paticipate .............in the 'economy'...,can not keep it viable!..........."we are listening,.......and we're not blind.,......this is your life....this is your time."

Cannot wait to hear those imbeciles complaining.

and it's gonna be a little difficult to feel bad for them when that time comes.

if you're a 'Thug-supporting 99'er, I want to meet you so I can laugh in your fucking face. I hope they enjoy their concrete bed under an overpass while their heroes live high on their stupidity.

Tough love? No, tough shit.

Their level of stupid is compounded by the fact that the two of them actually blame unemployed people.

The level of self hate and runaway callousness was enough to try to avoid interacting with them for as long as I can.

The problem is not that in this country we have a lot of assholes, every other place on earth has their fair share. What troubles me is that here is one of the few places where assholes are actually proud of being assholes.

..Say it ain't so? But really, why aren't the pundits and Dems just laughing out loud at the republican'ts? Well, maybe because we have some serious problems to tackle and the right is still all about obstructing. Rachel pointed out that they wrote that letter saying they were going to prevent cloture on everything...when haven't they done that in the last so many years. Many things get done by simple majority but without cloture that requires 60 votes, nothing gets done. That's a great strategy you bastards; hold the country hostage because your side lost..oh and destroyed the economy.

I agree with LeftandLeft (above.) Obama absolutely MUST tighten up his ball-sack and start kicking some Republican ASS. He has been PLAYED for the last two years by the Republicans, and they will continue blocking everything he wants to do right up till election night, 2012. I am beginning to believe that my confidence in Obama and his abministration has been too optimistic. There is looming the possibility of Obama's one term as a "failed presidency," totally engineered by the Party of NO and their anti-American politics and proceedures as the Minority Party.

Chrisdutch's picture

It boggles the mind that these clowns will be running the "people's house" for the next two years. It's so sad.

Tombo's picture

"...both Buchanan and Eugene Robinson laughing out loud at the young congressman."

Yes, but it will be the Republicans who laugh last. Why wouldn't they make seemingly laughable demands when they know they will be granted? This strategy of no comprimise has worked perfectly well for them thanks to the useless pussy of a president we have. The asshole still thinks he can appease them!

McConnell, Cantor and Boehner could barely keep from laughing at him in that nauseating display of ass-kissing put on by President Douchebag.

Obama has, without even talking to them, already decided to cave on the Bush taxes and that is just the start. Just you wait until he gives them what they want with Social Security and Medicare, which is their ruination through cutts to their funding and changes in their very structure, mainly privitization, to make them fail.

Obama's not clever, he's not hopeful and he's not some political genius. He's a complete fucking disaster and the sooner rank and file Democrats wake up to that fact the sooner they can start to find a replacement for this weak, appeasing sell-out bastard.

Lucky for him, he's got a Democratic President who basically wants the same thing, but can't say it out loud.

Aaron should do like other repubtards and steal a song for his theme song. I think Schock the Monkey, switching his name for the verb would be excellent. I'll bet Peter would even let him use it seeing how it fits him to a tee.

I haven't seen a canary-in-the-coalmine moment like that since Ann Coulter called the birther movement crazy.
