Rachel Maddow: 'All Hail Shep Smith At Fox News'
Continuing the theme of this week of publicly shaming Republican Senators who've voted to deny 9/11 First Responders, Rachel sings the praises of Fox News' Shepard Smith for calling them on this.
RACHEL MADDOW:Shep Smith making a hullabaloo on his show about the Republicans who are not supporting health care for 9/11 first responders means that those Republicans might feel compelled to explain publicly why they don't support health care for 9/11 first responders.
...
All hail Shep Smith at Fox News, and I'm not kidding. Because Fox News is an outlet that can get return calls from Republican senators most of the time, unlike some other people I know who shall remain nameless, but who are me.

Good for Shep. Now someone explain to me how he keeps his job at Fox. He must know someone or have the goods on someone.
I tell you what, I would trade Joe Scarborough for Shep any time.
Say what you mean. Mean what you say. But don't say it mean.
He's got some files or video of somebody in upper management. That Shep is smarter than he looks.
NOBODY 2012
he won't keep that job for long. He has proven he watches that Viacom product.
"Folks, this is not your father's Republican Party."
Joe Biden
that's giving credit where credit is due... we hope, just don't forget, rachel which side shep's bread is buttered on!

Because they'll (cops/firefighters) vote for any republithug that supports the death penalty- even if they call 9/11 responders bill a ponzi scheme, declare a full-blown war on what's left of organized labor (public employee unions) and make no secret of the fact that they would privatize public safety in a heart beat. Shit with DHS, insecure communities and the rest they're well on their way to achieving that goal.
There's no downside. No explanation necessary. To the Tom Coburn's of the world all those cancer-ridden blue collar types are still un-american east coast elitists anyway.
And the idea that we'd make major corporations pay taxes to pay for the medical bills of sick cops and firefighters makes passing this thing a long shot among long shots.
It's Joe Lieberman on 4.
He says if you wanna sit on a fence, why not our fence.
He also came up big right after Katrina.
Good for you, Shep. And yeah, you wonder how much longer he'll be able to keep his job.
remain unopposed as long as these guys can masquerade as their own opposition.
Throwing Olbermann under the bus by saying he broke rules was the start down a long slippery slope for Ms Media Star.
Almost as bad as disrespecting the meme of the day and offending Glenzilla. But not quite.
"Folks, this is not your father's Republican Party."
Joe Biden
She simply pointed out Keith didn't ask for exemption on the donation according to the MSNBC contract, which, yes, was against the rules, but then in the same segment called for Olbermann to be immediately reinstated.
Also, she didn't praise FOX at all, she praised Shep Smith.
Spin much?
I've seen some stuff, man. And some thangs...
I don't like it.
Shep is a long time Democrat. Glad you guys are noticing Fair and Balanced!
If that's the case, then he's a 'turncoat' Dem. Job or no job. And it DOES matter.
While no one is perfect, especially anyone representing Faux News, Shep is one of the most honest people on that network and I too wonder how he keeps his job. He first caught my attention with the his coverage of Katrina and I passed it off as "passion" and empathy for the Katrina victims. Then, when he went after Nader on election night when Nader called Obama a "House Negro" (or something along those lines...I just remember that it was really offensive), I was fully on board with this guy. Shep went after Nader like the wanted to knock the guy's block off for having the timerity to even say something so offensive. I mean, it looked like Shep would have been up in Nader's face screaming at him and challenging him to "step outside" if this exchange had happened at a cocktail party. I actually had to double check to make sure I my TV was tuned to Fox.
Shep says some questionable things every now and then, but I really do like this guy and hope that he is able to keep his job.
Shouldn't that be whom is me?
Diabolus est Deus Inversus
as above!
Shep's got compromising photos of Ailes and Murdoch dressed up like the gimp from Pulp Fiction, or possibly cavorting with Guy Pearce a la L.A. Confidential, surreptitiously purchased from Danny DeVito. It's the only way he's survived for so long in the foxhouse without being eaten. On the QT, and very hush-hush!
Old Man Murdoch don't like it when his steers wander off the reservation.
"Steers?" What steers? I don't see "steers!"
Did he actually place blame on the Republicans? I saw a clip on here last week, but he whined about the bill being stalled, but never once said the Republicans were behind it.
the 9/11 responder bill could've been used by Dems to pound the GOP daily until 2012.
You can bet your remote on the realization Smith or any of the other droids on Fox, do nothing without prior approval. There's a reason behind this and frankly Shepard Smith's one sparkle does not amount to chit! This is already more attention than it deserves.
When are the Morning Scholars (Doocey, The guy who isn't Doocey and the Blonde) going to weigh in on this. I'm sure there stealing Shep's lunch from the studio fridge.
There must be a lot of Fox Nausea viewers that watched Shep criticize Repubs and then entered a state of total confusion. Some of them likely got seasick and hurled over the rail of the good ship Wingnuttypop. I have family members who watch Fox 24/7 and one of them mentioned that he despises Shep, like he's some sort of traitor. Shep's not going away, he'll be on one of the networks.
I don't think he is going anywhere, except Fox News!
After his earlier attempt at this when he just said "They" referring to those in opposition to the Bill, I wrote to him and said that although I appreciated the attempt I was not too sure of his sincerity since he never called them Republicans. He came back the next day with a list of those "Republicans" blocking the Bill. Can't argue with that! Good job Shepard! You'll always have a job with the mainstream media when these guys get too much of the truth. I would have loved to have seen the heads exploding all across Foxlandria when this aired.
