A never-aired Sharron Angle campaign ad

Via the inimitable Jon Ralston:

The Social Security spot at right was produced by some folks in the Sharron Angle for U.S. Senate campaign but never aired, as some of the "DC handlers" managed to kill it. I can't imagine why.

I also wonder why there is no laugh track....

Or as one person put it at Politico in one of the better lines I've seen lately:

It's like Night of the Living Dead crossed with Sponge Bob.

was not a surprise. It will only surprise me when someone, really anyone, " of the polit--trash we have tell the truth;

Anyone honest enough, and smart enough to run for political office is too smart and too honest to get involved with the dirty business of politics..

I think Harry Reid should sue her for libel.

Either that or make a commercial that says Sharon Angle murdered immigrants.

for the stupidest, most asinine commercial ever made.

That was painful to watch. First off Sharron Angle calls SS, unemployment benefits and Medicare welfare that is 'spoiling the citizenry'. Then she creates this ad that claims Reid stole their trust fund when in fact republicans want to hand SS over to Wall Street were it would undoubtedly vanish into thin air faster than the speed of light...frigin' incredible! That bitch is truly the queen of bizarro world.

Why C&L and the left don't get it is beyond me, the money has been taken. I have posted this before, our own government admits taking our social security. Come on people if you keep your heads in the sand then you are certain to be shocked when reality hits.

Read the GAO’s information for yourself.
UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT ACCOUNTABILITY OFFICE SOCIAL SECURITY REFORM Answers to Key Questions - May 2005
On Page 17 http://www.gao.gov/new.items/d05193sp.pdf
17. Do Social Security taxes get spent on other government programs?

Yes. By law, the Social Security trust funds must invest in interest bearing federal government securities. Treasury then uses the cash to pay for other government expenses. In effect, Treasury uses Social Security’s excess revenues to help reduce the amount it must borrow from the public to finance other federal programs. In other words, Social Security’s excess revenues help reduce the overall, or unified, federal budget deficit. If Treasury could not borrow from the trust funds, it would have to borrow more in the private capital market and pay such interest in cash to finance current budget policy. However, Treasury still has to pay the trust funds interest on these securities. When Social Security needs to draw on the trust funds to pay benefits, Treasury provides cash in exchange for redeemed trust fund securities.

The FED is buying their own treasuries, they ARE the seller AND the primary customer! Treasury interest rates pay effectively zero because it doesn't keep up with the rate of inflation. Social security while I would love for it be there for me (because I'm not independently wealthy), I'd be a fool to count on it.

I am aware, and have been for years, that one of the positions of Al Gore's campaign was to put SS in a 'lock-box'. Repugs had a fit. Dubya made jokes, and went looking for the box after he had depleted the surplus he had inherited.

It is my understanding that Gore's plan for the lock-box would have prevented (or seriously abated) any future short-fall.

If this is what I know, then I am sure many others here do also.

Not really the point of the ad though. I do not believe that it is accurate in suggesting that Harry Reid personally went and took the money.

I just laid out the GAO's own documentation showing clearly by law the US takes our social security and pays the US annual deficit with it. They are robbing it now. Sure Sharron laid it on Harry because she was running against him, but in reality Capitol Hill is responsible for stealing our social security.

They're not fungible unlike gold, are virtually impossible to steal unlike gold and far easier to trade than gold and finally there's no danger the their value will tumble if somewhere someone stumbles on a rich gold strike. . There is also a vast market for them. The fed is not the primary customer for them The world financial markets are.

Hasa Diga Eebowai

The very creation of our dollar is done by converting treasuries into dollars a.k.a. monetizing debt, something Ben said he would never do. See the video Ben lying here: Bernanke Lies Under Oath re: Monetizing Debt that makes treasuries highly fungible and doesn't even require a printing press, they can do it on a computer keyboard. To say they can't steal it is ridiculous, the government is stealing our wealth right now every minute of every second of every day by expanding the money supply. That is known as debasing a currency that act is robbing yours and my purchasing power. That is why people flock to gold in times like this because it is a protection against that type of activity, people are losing faith and if you follow precious metals you can see clearly people around whole world are beginning to lose faith.

I am so surprised she could actually find old people to be in this ad. I mean they are cutting their own throats. Am a senior citizen and I laughed my head off. Gee, I try to take these teapublicans seriously but it is very hard.

The note should have been from Bush, it was he, after all, who spent all of the Social Security surplus that Clinton designated to cover the retirement of Baby Boomers.

And yet there are billboards across the country showing Bush grinning under the caption "Miss Me Yet?"

Hahaha. ...No.

Gawd, is this for real?

It looks like they picked up at least half those people from the local yacht club or their brokers office. None of them looked like they were starving and actually needed Social Security. I'm surprised they didn't use the fence in the background to claim illegal aliens slipped in and Harry Reid handed them the lockbox money. Or find a head in the box from all those "headless corpses" Jan Brewer claimed.

And the acting...appalling and frankly laughable. It's like watching low-budget porno flick.

I go with the latter. This was like the Half-hour News Hour on fux, only they actually did use laugh tracks or the overly enthusiastic chortling of the off-stage crew. This was so painfully bad it was like watching Metalstorm--the Destruction of Jared Syn. Stupid is as stupid does.

I need to go watch something actually funny now to clear my brain.

The only thing worse than one lying sack of shit, is a group of lying sacks of shit! Had this ad made it on the air, Sharron Angle would have taken a greater beating than she got in the mid-term election.

BTW, I do not agree with the Spongebob comparison. That lovable children's character has more sense in his little brain that these jackasses.
