Linda McMahon: Stop, Squirm and Run
The so-called race for Chris Dodd's Senate seat in Connecticut appears to be winding down to what most observers thought it would be months ago when Dodd decided to retire rather than lose against Linda McMahon of WWE fame and her millions poured into the race. It was assumed popular and longtime attorney-general Richard Blumenthal would have no trouble defeating her. But Blumenthal hasn't had to really campaign in years and early on it showed. That seems to have changed in the last few weeks, simply by Blumenthal seizing on what McMahon says and calling her on it. One such issue, of many, has been her business-friendly position on the minimum wage.
It's taken awhile but some in the media are finally asking McMahon about it, such as CNN's Jessica Yellin. But to really get to the heart of the matter, Rachel Maddow steps in, as usual. Maddow calls out McMahon's denials and outright lies of what she said about reducing the minimum wage. Again, it's hard to argue with videotape even if you can rely on (most of) the media not to check.
Interestingly, Maddow praises Richard Blumenthal for aggressively calling her out on that, going on the offense. For almost all of the campaign that has not been the case, and Blumenthal has been criticized for coasting. As soon as he did in this one instance pollsters decided to give him him back his double-digit lead. It'll be interesting what the new storyline will be for local pollster Quinnipiac in their next poll with these recent developments as they had been pushing a nail-biter.

" pollsters decided to give him him back his double digit lead. It'll be interesting what the new storyline will be for local pollster Quinnipiac in their next poll with these recent developments as they had been pushing a nail-biter"
will you eschew covering the fictitious world of poll results altogether?

It is a sad time in America when Mrs. Fake Wrasslin' can spend millions of Mr. Fake Wrasslin's (My Cousin Vinny's) money to fool the people of CT into voting for her.
Reader, suppose you were an idiot. And suppose you were a member of Congress. But I repeat myself.
The republicans and Chinese and Indians are methodically destroying the middle class.
People like the freak above are getting elected on their money alone.
Huh.
Who woulda' thunk.
Aw man.
At least MSNBC is covering it.
It is really happening. Makes perfect sense of coarse, to the republicans and the Chinese and the Indians, and the freaks they elect. At least MSNBC is covering it...

I love watching Rachel. She makes it look so easy. Play a clip, talk about it. Faux news is doing so much slicing and dicing in the editing room that the result is just ridiculous and so easy to disprove. Idiots. Rachel and her crew do the research, show a clip and the only thing the opposition can say is" Yeah but, deerrrppp, she's a lesbian and I've think I've soiled myself. Can you spare some toilet paper?"
Rachel's show last night was great. I am surprised I haven't seen it on one of these blogs. She interviewed Pete DeFazio's GOP opponent and it was one of the best things I have seen, easily worth two tubs of hot buttered popcorn.
This guy should be the poster boy from the GOP. Rachel was just trying to get an interview and from the gitgo he was on the offensive, accusing Rachel of smearing him and taking his own words out of context.
He was everything you would hope he could be- Loud, overbearing, opinionated (but damn few facts), very angry, rude, and disgustingly condescending. Someone should have warned him that if he wanted a gunfight, he should have come armed. In other words, the biggest public case of transferrence I have ever seen.
As usual, Rachel was composed, intelligent, and polite.
Sad thing is, I can't even remember his name.
If this is the best the GOP can offer, I will sleep very well this election night.
This has absolutely nothing to do with Blumenthal not being able to campaign. A Senate race in Connecticut is VERY different from an Attorney General's race.
That said, it helped that mailboxes in Connecticut have been receiving a steady dose of mail from McMahon for a month already. The narrowing of the race has nothing to do with "timid Dem syndrome." It has everything to do with McMahon putting a TON of money into the race, which she could do far earlier than Blumenthal could, do to her personal wealth.
Anyone that has actually followed this race wouldn't say that Blumenthal has coasted, but rather bide his time until the money that he has could actually make a difference when compared with McMahon's.
There seems to be a pattern here....
1. Spend a boatload of money
2. Say something stupid...or just tell an outright, PROVABLE lie...
3. When called out on it, use the following:
"It was taken out of context (Brewer, Angle, Whitman, O"Donnell)
"I misspoke....(Angle, McMahon)
" I never said that (Angle, Brewer, McMahon, Lowden (Chicken Lady, remember?)O'Donnell)
4. If all else fails...just run away. (Angle, Brewer)
Hmmm....
They're crooks.
Opportunists.
Gangsters.
