Fox News Shocked by Their Own Poll Saying Obama Likely to Win
A new Fox News poll that says most voters think Obama will win the 2012 election had Gretchen Carlson flustered and uncomprehending. Even with some Republican bias, the poll only confirms what the rest of us see as obvious: a weak Republican field makes Obama's re-election far more likely than it ought to be with this very weak economy.

I saw another poll that has Obama leading both Newt and Mitt in South Carolina.. wonder of wonders. I also wonder how the dunderheads at Fox will be able to survive without some kind of mass nervous breakdown with almost a year to go before the election? We still need a sweep in the house and senate to get anything done, but at least we have some real hope to get theses do nothing GOP clowns out.
This is what they get when they run out candidates like they do. They used to say that politicians would "run it up the flagpole" to see what reactions there were from the public. That's what FoxNews has been doing.
But I saw a headline that said that 54% of those polled didn't think Obama deserved another term. So the Republican Party is so weak that they can't beat a sitting president who gets those poll numbers.
Incumbent Presidents don't usually rate high in the polls .
Insanity , it is what it is , there is no understanding it .
The republicans mistook the 2010 midterms as a sign Murikah' was on the same page with the regressive fascist idiot dupes of the Tea party.
They never had a clue it was about Obama and his DLC GOP-lite miserable policies that caused their base to stay home in droves.
So naturally being idiot republicans, they turned up the bat-shit in bat-shit crazy, and have alienated anyone who isn't part of the racist, fascist, white fake christian lunacy parade that is today's GOP. Since these GOP nut-jobs are only about 30% of the population at best, the GOP is in some deep shit today.
If I were a psychopath, I would join the republican party, and get in on the gravy train taking the Teabircher morons to the cleaners.
Assuming that laughable statement is true and that the people who hate and despise the Democrats as profoundly as the most extreme Republican constitute the base of that party who paid the price of not turning up for the midterms? I believe Obama is still president and given the Republican field is likely to remain so.

But something's messed up with the syntax. I am sure you would agree if you weren't Canadian
and many* people think you shouldn't comment even if its OK that Edwin can.
* I use many rather than most because nobody was polled and the plurality is therefore unknown.
In other words bulk cannot be propoerly assessed.
"Folks, this is not your father's Republican Party."
Joe Biden
Mentally insert a comma between party and who. Without that even I can't understand what I wrote.
Hasa Diga Eebowai
The comma helps, but I really was peeing further upstream.
"Folks, this is not your father's Republican Party."
Joe Biden
. . . consists of right wing Canadians.
It takes that level of disconnect to simultaneously both deny that progressives are in anyway part of the Democratic base and also fault them for not voting Democratic.
Corruption favors the wealthy.
Canadians do not recognize the vast difference between real Democrats, who sport liberals and progressives among their base, and people who use terms like REAL as a qualifying adjective before the terms Democrat and progressive. It is the latter who imagine that liberals and progressives among Democrats are not real. They also ignore poll after poll showing such imaginary folks to be as strong in their support of this President as, say, black Democrats.
The Adjective Democrats are not part of the base. They eat refried Deans and raw Kucinich, however, and have a healthy attitude.
"Folks, this is not your father's Republican Party."
Joe Biden
I want Obama to win for many reasons. For one, the current crop, with the possible exception of Huntsman, are morons; they're clowns; most are far right religious nuts; they're ignorant; they're hate mongers, hating gays, the poor, and those less fortunate than they are; they have the absolutely incorrect vision on how to fix the economy and create more jobs; oh, I could go on and on and on.
But another reason why I want Obama to win is simply to spite these asswipes on Fox and people like limbaugh, hannity, beck, and the morning show clowns who absolutely hate Obama. Just to spite them.
I don't root against opposing teams... I root against their fans. I like to watch grown adults have breakdowns and start to cry.
"When are we going to stop trying to tell elected officials what to do. Our job is to spend the taxpayers' money the best way we can." -- Tommy Watkins, Justice of the Peace, Crawford County, Arkansas
Saying that it makes no difference whether or not Obama gets another term is as idiotic as saying there was no difference between the Clinton Presidency and the eight years under Bush / Cheney and the Republicon . Like saying there is no difference between Scott walker and the Republicons in Wisconsin or the Democrats in Wisconsin . At this point in time this country could not survive four years or eight years of Republicon rule , particularly from a liberal / progressive standpoint ... it would be all over . Ginrich / John Bolton or Obama / Clinton , no difference ? Absolutely ludicrous .
Insanity , it is what it is , there is no understanding it .
The conservative agenda has advanced more under the last two Democratic Presidents while the progressive agenda has advanced more under the last two Republican Presidents....
Bush Sr. - Clean Air Act, Americans with Disabilities Act
Clinton - DADT, DOMA, unfunded mandates, NAFTA, the repeal of Glass-Steagal, welfare reform
Bush Jr. - Medicare Part D, Sarbanes-Oxley, tax cuts for lower income Americans
Obama - mandatory health insurance, assassinations of American citizens, drilling in the Gulf of Mexico and Alaska, mountaintop removal permits, zero prosecutions of Wall Street criminals, across-the-board cuts in the federal budget, the forthcoming payroll tax increase
If you truly believe things would somehow be better with the Republicans in charge, then you're a deluded, misguided fool.
"Whatever your particular problem is, I promise you, the Republicans are not the least bit interested in solving it. They are interested in two things, and two things only: making you afraid of it, and telling you who's to blame for it."
Kreskin, I hope you're not replying to me. I certainly want Obama to win a 2nd term, and not just for the reasons I mentioned. Your comparisons to Walker in Wisconsin is very appropo. And, this country could not survive with 4 or 8 years of the repugs in the WH.
But one very important reason why Obama needs to win is for Supreme Court nominations. If a recon gets into the WH in 2013, then we will really be screwed with his Supreme Court nominations he might have to make, and that is likely. Justice Ginsburg in particular is getting up there in age (78). Justice Ginsburg was treated for colon cancer in 1999; in 2009, she had surgery for pancreatic cancer.
We need a Democrat in the White House to fill any positions opening in the coming years for the Supreme Court.
you run and old has been and a bumbling bimbo so you can lose ( they call it cut and run). We won't recover from Bush for at least two or three more years, the Rs are counting on getting in again in '16 after the recovery starts, then crow about how they fixed it.

Gretchen is confused because someone left the window open, and reality flew in.
I'm dying to know what Not Steve Doocey had to say./
What is your conceptual, continuity?
"You know what I do?" What does a Fox on air personality do when confronted with an inconvenient fact? Is there a convenient bucket of sand handy into which they plow their heads?
Hasa Diga Eebowai
Would be sufficient.
What is your conceptual, continuity?
of how many pins
which fit in the sands
of the teeny tiny ashtray needed at FOX?
"Folks, this is not your father's Republican Party."
Joe Biden
Now I can relax, knowing Obama will win again and continue to build his fantastic progressive legacy.
...obama will likely be the next president much to the chagrin of the right and some of us here on the left. Wouldn't it be nice to have a real dem or a true Progressive running?
Mickey: "It was an epiphany. Do you know what an epipany is?"
Keoni: "NOT NOW MICKEY!"
They wouldn't stand a chance of being elected and if they did they would be in the same boat as the current president. The absence of imaginary presidential powers and a compliant Congress to grant progressive wishes would quickly cause them to turn against this hypothetical progressive president. I'd give that process about a week.
Hasa Diga Eebowai
would at least fight and not cave, giving us all the moral and spiritual, if not substantive,
victory we so deeply crave and deserve.
"Folks, this is not your father's Republican Party."
Joe Biden
Regardless of which candidate you yourself would prefer, given your "wouldn't it be nice wish,"
who would be most likely to be elected, "a real dem or a true Progressive"?
I'd bet most voters would say the "real dem". I bet even some who prefer a "true Progressive" would agree. But that is because the poll only asks predicted outcome, not preference.
"Folks, this is not your father's Republican Party."
Joe Biden
Lots of things would be nice. But the reality is, Obama is about the most progressive candidate who has a chance of winning in the political climate.
We're going against a tide of 30+ years of hard right propaganda. The progressive movement has got a lot of work to do building up a base before they can expect another FDR to get elected.
That keeps the discussion more realistic.
more consistent with what you want to hear. Now how about a rousing chorus of Will The Circle Jerk Be Unbroken...
Hasa Diga Eebowai
Because ignoring Peter G will make the same pro-Establishment, pro-Big Bank, pro-Big Oil, pro-Israel Lobby, talking points spewed by American corporate media 24/7 somehow inaccessible?
Corruption favors the wealthy.
of her own propaganda...
It would explain why so many of conservative friends are abnormally quiet today.

(well, except for
Neocon CentralFox News....hmmmm.....)This past weekend folks like George Will, Donna Brazille etc. did an analysis of what is going down in Iowa and they found that Gingrich and Romney have no on the ground operations there as opposed to Ron Paul.
http://revolutionarypolitics.tv/video/viewVid...
I'd like to see a poll pitting Paul against Obama. But I think Fox is afraid to do that poll.
Iowa caucus attendees will also like the fact that Ron Paul has come out saying that if he were to become president he would not accept the $400,000 salary and would instead take about $36,000 instead....the median income in the U.S.
Those midwesterners like that kind of attitude....as opposed to folks like Romney making $10,000 bets with Rick Perry.
Anyhow, it's an interesting set of interviews linked above.
And here's a great Paul ad against Gingrich running now in Iowa:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hRdqGKA782A
"The US has an army of 90,000 soldiers in Afghanistan and is spending $100bn a year, but has still been unable to defeat 20,000-25,000 Taliban who receive no pay at all." - Patrick Cockburn
Tell Iowa caucus goers that Paul wants to kill subsidies for corn-based ethanol and then see how many of them still like him.
copy/paste:
Ron Paul could beat Barack Obama in Iowa.
According to an NBC-Marist survey (pdf) conducted Nov. 27-29 among 2,896 registered voters, Paul ties Obama, with each contestant gaining 42% of the vote.

It is like pRick Scott here in Florida; he spent something like $20Mil to get the job, then takes no salary because he is shoveling so much money into his holding from that post.
He knows how to do it; his company stole something like $60 from medicare/medicaid.
Ron Paul is a Ayn Rand cultist. 'nuff said?
...his money from Goldman Sachs (like Obama does)

How come we, on the left, are not constantly using Newt's official title "Disgraced Former Speaker"... Every time he's referenced ANYWHERE, he should be referred to as "Disgraced Former Speaker Gingrich".
"I could give a flying crap about the political process.... We're an entertainment company."
- Glenn Beck - Forbes interview; April 26, 2010
Their poll told them "54% of those polled didn't think Obama deserved another term." Well, what the fuck does that mean, really? Who did they talk to? How many people did they talk to? How educated were the individuals that they talked to? There are just to many variables for these "polls" to have any real relevance in my opinion. So, I never pay them any mind. They're all a bunch of meaningless bullshit.
"Romney Bests Gingrich in Matchups Against Obama". God forbid they come out and say Obama leads them both.
Is anyone else stunned..? Possibly, but not to your degree.
Hasa Diga Eebowai
for Gretchen. She has to spend every day trying desperately to keep her legs tightly crossed. She looks so uncomfortable. Let her wear slacks once in a while, Fox. Barring that, would it hurt to make the guys sit directly facing the camera once in a while?
Oh, the poll. Naturally Obama is likely to win against the pecans that the Republicans are offering as alternatives.
Apparently, all Fox requires all newsmodels and couch blondes to wear skirts because that makes them look more "feminine".
bloggers, and blog commenters know about polls.
I am neither flustered nor exasperated at this shocking finding.
But I too am upset not knowing what Steve Doocy do. Er, does.
"Folks, this is not your father's Republican Party."

Obama is a republican and has promoted their programs effectively. ACA is a Heritage Foundation program. The Bush now Obama tax cuts are secured. The MICC perpetual war/surveillance state crowd is happy, the Wall Street Crooks are happy.
The list goes on.
That the official Republicans are unabashed reptiles, are we surprised? But Obama is a reptile in sheep's clothing.
statusquObama, change you can only pretend in

"Better." It's what we should ask of ourselves and of our leaders.

You Ash Wholes just don't get it!
Favoring the one percent vs the ninety percent makes no sense.
We got you do dos 99 to 1! Hope you're not to thick to do the math>
That whooshing sound you're hearing is the air being let out of the Fox bubble.
Either that or Gretchen's head.
FOX flatulence?

But "weak Republican field" is a wee bit of an understatement, huh? Strange how a party which supposedly prizes removing Obama from office above all else would assemble this clown car of idiots to ride the campaign trail against him.
Corruption favors the wealthy.
isn't it?
CTHULHU 2012 "Why vote for a lesser evil?"
Maybe then they'll get over that magic 20 percent!
Newmitt Romnich for National Torture King!
I've been angry with Obama as much as anyone for his repeated caving in to the demands of the Right.
But I'm beginning to suspect his actions were deliberate, that he's been playing the long game with the GOP.
He's lead the Republicans to believe he's incapable of standing up to them, that he will give in on every issue. As a result, they've pushed further and further to the right, making increasingly insane demands.
Basically, Obama gave the GOP enough rope to hang themselves. Not only have they put their own heads in the noose, they're competing to see who gets the honor of pulling the lever on the trap door.
Why else would a state as deeply in the Red as South Carolina prefer Obama over any of the Republican candidates?
Republicans will continue to get the legislation they want during Obama's 2nd term, and this will be a double victory, as Congressional Democrats won't be able to offer any resistance, as doing so would put them in conflict with the leader of their own party.
It's therefore highly likely the GOP will nominate an unelectable candidate like Gingrich in order to satisfy their base and keep a DINO in the WH. This was their strategy in the Senate race in Nevada, and Harry Reid continues to be the most effective tool the GOP has in Congress.
Three-dimensional chess? Dem strategists are that brilliant?
Was killing the morning-after pill FDA decision part of the plan?
Ed-words
It's a bit of stretch to think anyone at Fox is "shocked" at their party's standing compared to Obama. They can read polls as well as anyone. They know very well how marginal the GOP has become (and how old the Fox viewing audience is). Approval of the Republican Congress has been in single digits for months.
This looks like a prelude to Fox's election strategy - full scale hysteria about the Commie from Kenya.
They are on the wrong side of history, whether they realize it or not.
There is no Easter Bunny.
Lets see, they have Ron Paul...almost an anarchist....
Newt the lard ass adulterer
Romney the cult member
Bachman the zombie
Darkman who has recently signed up for marriage counseling classes with a very pissed off wife....
The never was Santorum
The other texan who is more dense than GBush the 2nd... Perry
Trump the racoon infested head wearer of make up who happens to be wealthy..uh, so what?....
Palin.."what me worry" queen of the damned.....the sexy weather girl turned VP who will look less fetching in 2016 as her sexiness to pasty old white republican men ( and women) starts to fade.....
And Mr. Huntsman, smarter and calmer than the other cult member listed above (the south really hates mormons, and the catholics do too....)
So why should Gretchen be shocked?
Will she be shocked when Jeb Bush runs in 2016?
Will she be shocked to learn her teenaged daughter has probably let her boyfriend get to second base already, even after all the bible studies and promise keeping and all of that stuff...
Stay tuned in Gretchen, life is full of surprises....it's the journey not the arrival...or so it's said...
Republican stategy is to keep the big shots for the nex campaign, they want us to fix the economy and play inocent on the crisis!!
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Yeah, FOX, look at those numbers! I'm no longer enamored with Obama but I do love it when he crushes the GOP candidates in FOX's own poll! Naturally, the braintrust that is Fox and Freaks just don't get it - no surprise there.
If you have selfish, ignorant citizens, you're gonna get selfish, ignorant leaders.
George Carlin
This bitch makes my ears bleed.....

This was really, really fun to watch. I am fascinated by any collision between Fox Reality and Real Reality, and this one was a doozie!
The top one percent don't get it. They are ONE PERCENT. We got the numbers Gretch, get it?
Simple static electricity is enough to stun Gretchen's little bitty peanut brain.
