Hundreds of thousands are now marching in the streets of Iran against the election results. They're headed toward Revolution Square, perhaps literally.

UPDATE: The BBC is now saying the rally was 1-2 million. The video above was from earlier. The picture below was from later today when the crowds really began to swell.

(Sky News) Tens of thousands of supporters of Iran's opposition leader, Mir Hossein Mousavi, have defied a ban to attend a rally in Tehran after Mahmoud Ahmadinejad won a landslide victory in the presidential elections. Sky's Tim Marshall reports

This is what our streets should have looked like when the Extreme Court stole the 2000 election. It what our streets should look like now with Obama and Congress not ending the war, not over throwing Bush's assaults against the Constitution, Obama selling out - against the will of the great majority of Americans- to the insurance companies, Big Pharma and the HMO's....

The French have it right, and the Iranians are learning... keep government afraid of the People instead of the other way around.

OK so these dingbats all believe God has some sort of plan for everything. So by triggering a war, they're trying to speed the process up, therefore attempting to interfere with God's plan.

What right do they have to interfere with God?

No true Christian would interfere and alter God's plan, if that's what they want, all the more that shows they're nothing more than faux Christians. Fakes, false prophets that Jesus warned about.

You have to admire the youth of that country. They could be laying their lives on the line right now. I remember when America's youth had ballsback in the 60's. Now, they can't stop texting long enough to look up. They probably think Tehran is a marathon race.

"A man who views the world the same at fifty as he did at twenty has wasted thirty years of his life."....Muhammad Ali

The protesters in the 60s basically elected Reagan twice and gave us the GOP majorities. Those folks is the 60s decided that peace and love wasn't necessary when they had a little bit of money.

I fricken' hate the baby-boomer and 60s generations. They completely screwed over this country and perhaps the only justice is that a bunch of them lost their retirement money over the past 2 years.

Despite what you may've learned from the movies, there wasn't a clear demarcation in the 60's between the various youths, some were radical, some conservative, but probably the bulk were just trying to get through school with decent grades, avoid the draft, and get laid or married.

The radical probably remained so, although there are exceptions. I remember one, I think Abby Hoffman, worked for awhile on Wall Street.

As for the current generation, there's supposed to be less idealism, more volunteerism, but that's only if you can get them to put down their blue-tooths, laptops, i-pods etc for just a moment.

Did you know blue jeans were a radical statement, not high-priced fashion wear?

Oh, and people actually protested Vietnam, and some got shot: they didn't just text about it.

The New Testament was compiled between the 4th and 8th century in Byzantium, although Nicea may've triggered it. However, Nicea is the basis for the creed that bears it's name.

Funny thing, is despite all their protestations, and anti-creedal attitude on parts of lots of Protestants their beliefs are very simillar to the Nicean, Athanasian and Apostles Creed.

About the only thing they were changing was the power-structure, which has more bearing on this thread.

I disagree. In Iran, it really is about us. You can see it on Juan Cole's site, Nico Pitney's space on the Huff Po or Andrew Sullivan's blog, the latter two live-blogging the post election riots that are no longer riots but a full-blown revolution. They just haven't said it yet. I have.

Looking at the level of political involvement of these brave kids in Iran makes me wonder... what the hell happened to us and why didn't we do this 8 years ago?
