The more I see of Orly Taitz and others of the so-called "Birthers" on television the more depressed I get with cable news. Sean Hannity at Fox may have started this but now this sick woman is cropping up on CNN, MSNBC and even The Colbert Report.

Like it or not, this story has grown to be worthy of coverage by the media. It is the responsibility of the media to expose the people that are behind this for what they really are, WHACK-JOBS. In an effort to maintain neutrality the media cannot and should not state this overtly. I believe it is people like Taitz, Hannity, Beck, Coulter, Limbaugh, O'Reilly and Co. , (and the media outlets who promote them) who should take responsibility for inciting all the hate we have for Obama right now. It's one thing to disagree with his politics, but it's obviously un-American to even covertly try to stir up public hatred for Obama to the point that people want him dead!

I have read & listened to her arguments (believe me, it's painful). She is NOT a first-class legal mind. Ignoring the "was he born here or was he born in Kenya" argument, she maintains that in order to be eligible for president, BOTH OF YOUR PARENTS MUST BE US CITIZENS. Ignoring her lack of a citation, keep this in mind:
We've already had SIX US Presidents whose parents were immigrants!!!
Thomas Jefferson (1801-1809), whose mother was born in England, James Buchanan (1857-1861) and Chester Arthur (1881-1885), both of whom had Irish fathers, and Woodrow Wilson (1913-1921) and Herbert Hoover (1929-1933), whose mothers were born respectively in England and Canada. And Andrew Jackson, BOTH of whose parents were Irish immigrants.
That's a little thing the people on L.A. Law call "precedent". Since it's already been established that Presidents have served who did NOT have both parents who were citizens, her legal arguments fall flat.
For these and other reasons, I feel like the whole thing is some sort of gag. I mean it's just so damned lame from the cause they are so called fighting right up to this clown of a woman. It just doesn't seem real in so many ways.

You know, Schuster hit on something I've been meaning to comment on. Not one but two Honolulu newspapers posted Obama's birth announcements. I have read elsewhere that in Hawaii, the Health Department forwards the information to the papers. Notice how Orly refused to answer that question, and went right into her tirade on birth certificates and how people can just lie and get one (I'm going to Hawaii; I have a bunch of speeding tickets and a student loan I want to get away from). But neither she nor any other birther I've ever met/talked to can answer this question: How did Obama "plant" 47 year-old birth announcements in dusty old microfilm files? (I have also read somewhere that someone actually looked at the old newspaper microfilm, since they couldn't see the BC).
Her other spurious claim is that Obama has 29 Social Security numbers. How she got that info is beyond me. Because of identity theft & privacy issues, SSN's are confidential. And why would Obama need more than one? Is he collecting welfare?

The birth certificate is as valid as it can be and even a Google-image search is proof that Obama is a US citizen. Unfortunately, the birthers are not really interested in the truth and the proof of his birth certificate, which BTW, Chris Matthews did hold up on Hardball the original.
