Colbert Super PAC: Double Negative
The Colbert Super PAC ads just keep getting more deliciously whacked as they go along. This one is narrated by actor Sam Elliot. The ad starts out decrying the negative attack ads used by the republican candidates against one another and the millions spent by their respective Super PACs, and how this is having such a deleterious effect on our democracy. Then asks for unlimited donations to blast the other Super PACs "out of existence" so we can all return to more idyllic times before these hated Super PACs appeared.
Brilliant.

...Colbert's lampoonish ads will be lost on 95% of the electorate.
Outside of prodigy high school students, liberal college students & adults with a relatively sophisticated sense of humor, nobody in South Carolina knows what the hell Colbert is talking about.
It's already common knowledge right wingers have no sense of irony. And they have no sense of humor unless it is couched in racism & sadism.
Having said that, just the fact Colbert is using SuperPAC money to create these ridiculous ads is in & of itself a power political statement.
When Fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in excess body fat & carrying a misspelled sign.
Gimme a break. I was laughing at George Carlin's abortion jokes when I was 8 years old, what's that make me, Enrico Ferme?
I love Colbert and I love these SuperPAC ads but let's not get precious about it. We aren't smarter for finding it funny.
..but I highly doubt we were laughing at abortion jokes when you were 8 years old. If you were, then that's too creepy to ponder.
Take it from somebody who attended a public high school & a private high school: As a rule of thumb, Colbert's humor is way over the head of the average HS student.
When Fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in excess body fat & carrying a misspelled sign.
Political ads have never been directed towards people who can't vote anyways, I fail to see why Colbert's parody has to be subjected to such an arbitrary standard.
It is just humor to make light of the surreal times we live. If the joke flies over most people in SC, then the joke is on them.
lighten up, life is too short to be so concerned.
CTHULHU 2012 "Why vote for a lesser evil?"
Whoa, talk about exotic accolades. Believe it or not, I too attended a public high school (what are the odds, I know!). It's not that Colbert's humor is hyper-intelligent, it just requires a basic understanding of what's going on in the country.
Granted, most high school kids aren't paying attention to politics (with some exceptions, I'm sure). But it's not like finding Colbert funny makes you hyper-intelligent. I hate seeing people try to claim comedy.
We can also laugh at the people that don't get the irony or the message.
and will shake some people out of the zombie acceptance of the typical MSM fare. I think more than 5% get it, or it at least makes them think differently. It won't reach those who are coo-coo for Jesus, but there's hope for the rest of us.
The parakeet in front of the American flag was enough to get me giggling.
It's refreshing to see ads from someone who doesn't care if he gets elected or not. Just let stuff fly.
The parakeet actually floored me. For some reason I just found the juxtaposition hysterical. Also scores high marks for best use of stock footage in a political ad this year.
This stuff is brilliant. Pat Paulson must be green with jealousy.
Is there any place where we can see all the ads that have come out of the DNCWSCSP? Are they up at the Colbert Nation site?

Colbert will be a guest tomorrow on Morning Joe on MSNBC. I have a good feeling that he will be in character.
Say what you mean. Mean what you say. But don't say it mean.
I have watched Colbert morph from Private Person,
to Corporal Punishment
to Captain America
to Major Mistake
to what now seems to be General Mayhem.
He should bring out his lawyer, Trevor Potter, with the music from “Flash Gordon” by Queen and some steam or smoke on the floor.
The man was head of the FEC and wouldn't be there unless he feels much the same a Colbert about the turn our elections money has taken. As long as Potter is in the loop the FEC will have no justification to shut down Colbert. I don't think they want them back in the room for another hearing anyway. lol

..."" As of Thursday, he, along with the help of Matthew Sanderson, an associate at his law firm, achieved success when the Federal Election Commission approved Colbert’s Super PAC. For the second time, Colbert visited the FEC, bringing throngs of screaming fans and reporters to the typically quiet agency.
"During remarks to the crowd, Colbert thanked his legal team: “We owe a debt to my lawyers Trevor Potter and Matt Sanderson of the heroic law firm Caplin & Drysdale. Two names that will go down with the great American duos—Lewis and Clark, Sacco and Vanzetti, Harold and Kumar.”"
"Potter is one of the nation’s top election-and-campaign-law experts, and he served as a commissioner and chair of the Federal Election Commission during the George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton administrations. So he was on familiar territory when he went with Colbert on a trip to the FEC to file paperwork for the Colbert Super PAC. The hundreds of waiting fans and reporters weren’t so typical. Potter notes that “five minutes of legal work” on The Colbert Report has become the most noticed thing he’s ever done.""

I did contribute to his PAC and I will make another small contribution to his super PAC. I feel that it was a VERY good investment of my entertainment/political dollar.

It's political teflon for Colbert. A brilliant move.
No one should see politics or sausage being made, I suppose is the joke ....
people SHOULD see politics being made. This is the kind of thing that's normally buried in legalese and kept out of the public eye. Jon and Stephen are dragging it out into the light of day. Good for them!

.. so we may as well have a good laugh at it as it goes down ..
When will government of the people, by the politicians, for the corporations perish from this Earth?
Not soon enough!
that was playing as they boarded the few lifeboats.
