CNBC's Charlie Gasparino Drops F-Bomb
By scarce Saturday Jan 31, 2009 6:00pmIn a week that saw Wall Street treat itself to $18.4 billion in bonuses (while receiving billions in taxpayer money), and both President Obama ("outrageous") and Sen Claire McCaskill (D-Missouri) ("idiots") lambaste them for it, CNBC's loudmouth commentator, and Wall Street apologist, Charlie Gasparino picks an especially inopportune time to put his foot in his mouth.
Gasparino: The bonus question, we shouldn't be talking about it. It's a stupid, fucking...it's a stupid debate.
Deutsch: Wow, did he?
Gasparino: I'm sorry.

U screw-up, Tube, really.
charlie fucking gasparino -- or at least that's what i've always called him.
but I really don't care if he uses the fuck word or not. Fercrissake we are all adults, aren't we?
To make an issue about one word when the whole world is going belly up is juvenile!
and the people in the audience go "WOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!" like it's naughty
Meanwhile, the real pornography and criminal acts continue...
Can we grow up already? OMG! OMG! OMG! He said a bad word they're not supposed to say on the TV!!!
Ooo! Ooo! Ooo! Look! A nipple! hehe snicker
It's no wonder we can't make any serious improvements to this country.
Politically and socially we're all stuck in middle school.
is that the folks on teevee can tell atrocious lies through their teeth, or smile inappropriately while relating horrible news, but swearing is verboten!
Just more hypocritical holier-than-thou-ness, another way to maintain the illusion that they're serious adults.
Oh, well as long as he didn't show his nipple.
You are just fucking stupid. Don't want to talk about the bonus situation---fine, you are just another enabler for the craven, greedy jerks of Wall Street with their self centered entitlement mentality.
Sorry is the right word here--you are one sorry bastard.
to get attention. Pretty pathetic dude, if that's your idea of something to brag on. You're just a sad sack.
Wait, was he suggesting that failed CEOs getting billions of dollars in bonuses is no big deal?!
If so, then Charlie Gasperino is one outrageously stupid fucking idiot!
I guess that's what he gets for trying to stifle debate in a free society -- his size 10 Manolo loafer in his big stupid mouth.
What those bonus-hounds did was Economic Treason. Quick -- freeze some assets before these tacky people turn it all into gold bathroom fixtures and marble flooring for their McMansions.
Language censorship... we shouldn't be talking about it. It's a stupid, fucking...it's a stupid debate.
why the fuck are we even talking about this? wha?
They almost acted as if he tortured someone, started a war, or stole billions of dollars. Luckily he only cursed.
I really don't care. I think our problem with swearing is ridiculous and no big deal. We teach our kids not to do it yet pretty much everyone does. But anyway my point is he thinks it's no big deal? That's the fucking problem. Fuck.
Found this "The bonus question, we shouldn't be talking about it" the most offensive thing he said?
Yes we should talk about it along with the Jets and everything else, why because it shows where these companies Real priorities are
I agree... yes, we should be talking about it. Hell, companies aren't buying Superbowl commercials because of the message it sends to their employees. That's smart. Million dollar bonuses to people who don't need them? Dumb.
Million dollar bonuses from companies who can't afford them is more like it. These corporations lost billions of $$$$. And they took money from you and me and everybody else just to keep their corporations solvent. They took OUR money and gave themselves million $$$$ bonuses. That is obscene. That is a blatant ripoff!! Fuck Charlie Gasbag.
...although I am enjoying the massive amounts of concern trolling in this thread.
Bingo! That he thinks everyone should accept being robbed blind, is the real vulgarity.
Altho the mention of the f-bomb was evidently titilating enough to get people to come in and read about the real scandal. :)
The Gop are being allowed to while in exile shape the debate and turn lies into truths. All the while these Media talking heads enableing them to do .
who cares if someone swears on tv?
Alert the FCC!!!!!!
Who seriously cares about this? I love the double standard of the Amerikan Kulture. We can watch murder constantly on TV from 6pm-10pm, every show is a homicide show, every plot revolves around some deranged killer...yet a little tit, or an F-bomb is NEWS and a huge ass FINE!!!
You people are brainwashed to the core.
Fuck puritanism, but a part of me wants to see this asshole punished by the FCC.

when did 18 billion become so funny? what are they laughing about? i hate those dumb fucking striped shirts with the white collars wall sheet douche bags wear.
It's not the F bomb, it's the B bomb. It's stupid to talk about it or it's stupid to not talk about it. It can't be both.

Gasparino was the ringleader for the Democrat-bashing fest on CNBC Friday, blasting Obama's inaugural address as "pessimistic" compared with the glorious "optimism" of Reagan's first inaugural address. He whined and said Obama "sounded like Carter". Two or three others on the panel chuckled in agreement.
uh...nobody on the panel had the presence of mind or historical perspective to remind Gassy that it was Bush's devotion to the wrong-headedness of Reaganomics that GOT us where we are today! Not to mention the FAILURE of Reaganomics to rid the country of serial recessions throughout the George H.W. Bush years leading up to the 1992 "It's the economy, Stupid!" election victory for a relative unknown named Bill Clinton.
And it turns out Carter's Fed Chairman, Paul Volker, is now widely recognized by nearly everyone to be THE go-to guy to help us find a way out of this mess.
But Gassy would rather hear more "optimistic" inaugural addresses from Republican dimwits than see BETTER results from Democratic policy wonks.
What they failed too consider and or mention, was the diversity of the constituency...

I can't say for sure, because I didn't see the show you speak of. I would bet there was a greater representation of America at one more so then the other and I'm not fond of gambling! It's a probability thing. :-)

Charlie's stimulus plan rewards those who drive their companies either to the brink of ruin or into bankruptcy. Pay for performance---bah humbug! CEO's are entitled to their bonuses irregardless of company performance so they maintain their "image" with their slimy peers. Imagine that, rewarding people for being incompetent. Only in the psychotic Neocon universe.
And these assholes are laughing about something that should make all of them mad as hell...but our media get paid enough that they really don't care at all...we should be done with the whole MSM in America but most Americans aren't even aware there is a problem!
Running corporations into the ground should never have been a positive for compensation plans. In most positions in this world, you are paid bonuses for performance. If they lose the company assets due to poor performance, they should pay by not receiving the bonuses. This is nothing new. This is the way it worked before the dereguation world came into effect. Republicans are thugs.
You stay classy, San Diego.
Curse words on the news! Certainly, this will mean FCC fines and an imbalance in the space/time continuum.
It's just a word, and it's not real money anyway. Besides, maybe we can call it one last fling before they have to bye-bye to the big bonuses and higher salaries than the President makes. If a guy can't make it on 400 G's a year, then maybe he better quit putting it up his nose at 20,000 feet in those fancy jets surrounded by hookers that cost 2 G's a day.
Not to mention the FAILURE of Reaganomics to rid the country of serial recessions throughout the George H.W. Bush years leading up to the 1992
-----------------
There were no serial recessions throughout the GHWB years. There was one recession.
The economy expands and contracts. Recessions are normal. The business cycle averages 7 years or so. The 1983-1990 expansion was an average duration.
Roosevelt had a severe recession 5 years into his Presidency. Are you going to talk about the failure of Rooseveltnomics to get the country out of an economic depression?
The longest economic expansion on record was the GHWB-Clinton expansion, at 10 years. The excesses that should have been eliminated after that expansion, weren't, as a housing bubble was created to prolong the boom era.
And it turns out Carter's Fed Chairman, Paul Volker, is now widely recognized by nearly everyone to be THE go-to guy to help us find a way out of this mess.
--------------
There is no way out of this mess, except to take all the losses and mark them to market. So far i have not heard President Obama talk about bringing all the bad debts out in the open and accounting for them. The cover-up of bad debt has to end. Ending the cover-up is going to be painful, but continuing it, through such things as creating and aggregator bank to hide bad debt, as has been suggested by someone, will not solve the problem. It is just another fraud.
If Paul Volker does not call for the marking to market of the bad debt, he won't find his way out of this mess.
I'm beginning to grow suspicious of business "cycles" that seem to historically favor Democratic stewardship and punish Republican stewardship so consistantly, regardless whether the Democrats serve 4 years, 8 years or more and regardless whether the Democrats follow 4, 8 or 12 years of Republican stewardship.
At a certain point, it defies reason to attributed it to mere chance. And if it's only a "cycle", then it's the damndest, most flexible "cycle" I've ever seen.
No, I wouldn't fault "Rooseveltnomics" for a one year recession in '37-'38, five years after his policies were pulling us out of The Great Depression. We should only have been so lucky to have had just one year of recession in the past 8 following no Great Depression at all.
Since the end of WWII, the shortest period of recession for any president was under Jimmy Carter, except for the Democrats who had none on their watch, (LBJ, including the JFK years, and Bill Clinton). On Carter's watch, there was one 6 month recession that began and ended in early 1980. Nixon/Ford before him had recessions that lasted MORE than twice as long, taking the double Nixon terms out of the equation. Similarly, Reagan had one that lasted MORE than twice as long as Carter's.
Before the recession-free JFK/LBJ years (save for the month of February, 1961, where just one of Eisenhower's recessions was coming to a close), we were in recession for more than 25% of the supposed "Happy Days" Eisenhower years.
If it has been mere chance, cycles or "bad luck" that Republican administrations have been plagued by far more than their share of recessionary times over the past 100 years or so, then it's way past time for them to figure out what the Democrats were doing to improve their "luck" and start doing it.
It's actually pretty easy to understand why people like Charlie Gasparino feel that people who are failures at their jobs should get multi-million dollar bonuses. It's the only way he's ever likely to see one.
