Bruce Bartlett: Rick Perry is an idiot
Former Reagan adviser and ex-Bushie, Bartlett defends the actions by the Federal Reserve against the "grossly irresponsible" charges made by republican candidate Rick Perry. A few days ago Perry said this about Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke:
"If this guy prints more money between now and the election, I don't know what y'all would do to him in Iowa, but we would treat him pretty ugly down in Texas."
Karl Rove and others have condemned Perry's comments as "unpresidential."
(CNN) - Former Treasury official Bruce Bartlett labeled newly-minted Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry "an idiot" Friday.
Bartlett, who served at Treasury under former President George H.W. Bush and as a domestic policy adviser to the late President Ronald Reagan, delivered the choice words to the Texas Gov. in reference to his recent comments about Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke.
"Rick Perry's an idiot, and I don't think anyone would disagree with that," Bartlett said Friday on CNN's "American Morning."
Perry sparked controversy when he said Bernanke would be "treasonous" if he printed more money to stimulate the economy before the 2012 election.
"I mean, printing more money to play politics at this particular time in American history is almost treacherous, or treasonous, in my opinion," Perry said Monday in Iowa. He stood by his comments Tuesday.
Bartlett said the politics at the Federal Reserve are a serious problem and in part blamed U.S. presidents, who he said have historically not focused their energies on the bank.

Two points: One, the Fed prints new money every year. If for no other reason than to replace old worn-out bills.
Two: As the economy grows, you need more money in circulation to cover all those purchase people make.
As the population grows, the physical money supply must grow to match.
Third, I don't think ANYBODY is calling for the printing of more money as a "stimulus". That's just stupid.
...but look who we're talking about.
* There are two types of Republicans: millionaires and suckers.

"Two: As the economy grows, you need more money in circulation to cover all those purchase people make.

Not true. More people means less money to go around which increases money's value. Therefore, you can buy more with less money and your savings account does not lose value.
Perry's comments and these kinds of reactions to it are just the kinds of things that will endear him to the useful idiots.
You hear the word 'idiot' (ascribed to perry), and you say "Yes please, can I hear that some more!!"

I certainly wouldn't disagree. He shocks people, he's not bright. From what I've seen he's an asshole too, who's in love with himself.
far left loon >.<
I'm no fan of quantitative easing, but perry just wants to appeal to the paranoid jewish conspiracy lunatic fringe, that believe we are all under the power of the illuminanti. He's an idiot who appeals to idiots.
FWIW, there's no love lost between the Bush and Perry camps, and this sort of sniping is pretty par for the course. That said, Perry IS a loonbat and it needs to be pointed-out at every opportunity.
Yup, I coulda been wrong. Maybe Perry isn't the BushCo candidate this time around - but that leaves the question: who is?

I hear he was pretty good at extra-curricular activities.
Thank you Mr. Bartlett aka Captain Obvious.
Say what you mean. Mean what you say. But don't say it mean.
I'm beginning to believe that America is FULL of idiots......when are the American people going to realize that these boneheads running for the Republican presidential nomination ARE MOSTLY BRAINDEAD!! They yammer on and on about patriotism and loving their country, while exhibiting intense hatred toward anyone who does not think like them or believe the nutty things they say. I'm thinkin' those fools have been smokin' a lot of wacky tobaccy!

Were America not full of idiots we would not be having this discussion. The whole lot of them would have been laughed off the stage.

If they were smokin', they wouldn't have that much pent up rage!
Only had wacky tobaccy once in my life and felt it made me too goofy, so never did it again...that's what comes of dabbling, I guess! Maybe wacky tobaccy would help them get rid of that rage!!

I first met Rick Perry in 1985. He was a Democratic freshman state rep, straight off the ranch in Haskell, Texas. He wore his jeans so tight, and, umm, adjusted himself so often that my fellow young legislative aides and I used to call him Crotch.

no matter what the Rethugs say, the single most important thing they are focused on is doing whatever they can to get BLACK Obama out of the WHITE House.....without ANY regard for the damage it does to the economy, the country, or the American People. Remember Senor McTurtle's declaration after they won the House about his stated goals for the next election:
October 25, 2010
"The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president."
-- Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), in an interview with the National Journal, describing his goal in retaking the Senate.

I said from Day One that the rethuglicans would purposely harm the economy by not hiring and looting the treasury so that Obama would look weak or ineffectual, and it's all come true.
By the way, anyone who invokes the term conspiracy theory to malign someone, or something, as crazy doesn't have their head screwed on straight in today's day and age. Generally, those who shout conspiracy theory are the ones who know someone is too close to the truth. I know it sounds crazy, but perhaps it's just topsy-turvy, and those who believe in so-called conspiracy theories 9 times out of 10 know way more what they're talking about than those who call something a conspiracy.
I don't take my advice or information from Reaganauts or ex-Bushies.
When will the Liberals wake up and stop citing these people as if they were founts of wisdom.
In other words, you're forgetting rule no. 1, which is that rethuglicans lie all the time.
Although it's true Bruce worked for Reagan and Bush senior, I wanted to point out that Bruce Bartlett became an independent years ago after being fired for writing a book criticizing GWB. Almost all his criticism on his facebook page is toward Republicans and tea partiers.
100% correct and it's obvious to anyone who isn't an idiot.
"...and I don't think anyone would disagree with that."
Sadly, terribly wrong, because many, many Americans are also idiots.
"Rick Perry's an idiot, and I don't think anyone would disagree with that," Bartlett said Friday on CNN's "American Morning."
Obama and the Democrats need to take a page from Bartlett's play book.
This is the unvarnished truth and the country needs the Democrats to say so, and say it about Palin, Ryan, .Bachmann, Cain, Cantor, both Paul's and the rest of the GOP leadership. They need to stop pretending that these people and their reactionary, failed policies and ideas deserve any respect, even the respect of a courteous rebuttal. The stakes are too high and the damage done to the nation by the GOP is too great for that.
Teabaggers are immoral, hate filled, ignorant people to the majority of Americans, so Perry won't win dog catcher of the year.
The last act of anybody overseeing the demise of an empire is to loot the treasury. W's real mission accomplished.
