Darrell Issa's Campaign Contributors

After defending the profits of the health care industry when a previous caller asked him if he thought health care should be a human right, Rep. Issa is then asked who his biggest individual campaign contributor is.
Issa: Ah, boy that's a good question. Ah...I guess I am. I put several million dollars of my own money over the years into my campaigns for the Senate, the House and recalling the Governor, so I'm probably at $11 or $12 million of my own money. After that there's probably somebody that's given me $20,000 or $30,000 over ten elections.
Here are some of Darrell Issa's recent top campaign contributors from from OpenSecrets.org.
2009-2010
2007-2008
2005-2006
2003-2004

All politicians know darn well where their campaign money comes from.
How insincere this empty suit.
from the Useless Annoying Car Alarm Manufacturer Association of America. I heard he used to be their president...
Ironic he gets so many contributions from the insurance lobby, since Issa got indicted for insurance fraud at some point. Proof that indeed, there is no honor among thieves...
that makes him either senile or a liar. I'm going to go with liar.
Where did he get the millions contributed to himself?
he's one of those boot-strap guys, self-made, etc. Probably lots and lots of government contracts.
he made his fortune in the 90s selling those "viper" car alarms. The kicker is that he was accused of car insurance fraud, when he reported one of his mercedes stolen to cash in on the insurance.
You can't make some of this stuff up some times.
He worked hard to set up and ramrod the recall of Grey Davis and then was shouldered aside by his own party in favor of the bodybuilder.
How naive do we have to be to believe that elected politicans are working for us. It doesn't matter what party affiliation they come from, they're all looking out for themselves and their donors.
These are jobs that pay about $200K (a year with committee work) but they have to spend litterally millions to get the job.
This website is called crooks and liars. You can't tell me that anyone here doesn't understand how all these people get their funding to run campaigns. They may throw a few crumbs our way but the majority of their work is done to benefit the top earners... not us.
This bastard is just another one who's in it for himself. I almost respect his style because he's not really pretending to be doing anything for us.
Guys like this and the rest of the republican's, take the crumbs too!
They would laugh and scoff at Marie Antoinette for being a bleeding heart, librul, socialist commie.
Far be it from me to defend Issa, who was the creep who funded the recall of Gray Davis on very shaky grounds and ultimately helped give us the Governator, but it doesn't look like Issa received ANY money from the health insurance companies, which are the ones who are going to be squeezed by what we've been calling "health care reform." It's really health insurance reform, and pharma and "health care products" are things that health insurance is used to buy.
So, please try again. Tabulate the data and name some health insurance names. You have nothing on Issa that I can see. Thanks, though.
I guess Blue Cross/Blue Shield are just makers of magical pixie dust then.
Who knew?
of the contributions to Rep Issa's past electoral campaigns per industry as well as individuals... oh, wait.
I guess the OP was too "concerned" to be bothered to read the article before expressing his "concern" about the contents of the article, eh?
Re: Tao Jonesing
There's a brand new breed (or inbreed) of CONservative posters around lately.
Sometimes they pretend to have been Progressives but have now "Smarted-Up."
Then there are the ones who talk a real good civil argument on a Thread but when confronted with their circuitous logic and Talking Points, they email you with nasty comments.
I had a fella on YouTube argue nicely on the Thread until he became tired of my having actual answers and statistics for his Talking Points... at which point he emailed me privately and insulted me with language you wouldn't believe (ok, maybe you would).. and then when I mentioned his behavior on the YT thread, he said I was stalking him. Kinda sick.
I'm not a conservative by any stretch of the imagination. My voting record proves that, as does what my conservative friends think of my politics.
Issa is a scumbag. My wife can tell you that I hurl insults at him any time I see the guy on TV.
The problem is that this lame-ass post does not credibly prove Issa to be a liar, which is a relatively easy thing to do on numerous topics. Please, please, please, try again. I don't want a liberal version of Faux News.
Be credible.
Let's try again, shall we?
First, the "pharmaceuticals/health products" industry does NOT equal "health insurance" industry, which is the industry being regulated by the proposed healthcare reform. Health insurance is used to PURCHASE pharmaceuticals and health products, but they are not one and the same. At Heather's invitation by posting the unfiltered data, you apparently assumed a fact that has not been established and that cannot be established.
Second, the only health insurer on the list is BC/BS, who clocks in at a mammoth $18K over Issa's careeer, which is LESS THAN the $20K-$30K max contribution to which Issa professes.
I don't care for ideological douche-baggery, regardless of political stripe. I get enough of this crap from Rush, Beck, Newt, Malkin, and Coulter. I don't need it from liberals.
Seriously, it is so EASY to take Issa down on so many issues that bringing this kind of weak sauce just makes him look better.
Pay attention, people. Many right wingnuts can be convinced that they're wrong, but you have to start from a position of documentable strength. You can't just clutch at your chest every time you perceive a wrong. You have to PROVE it. If you can't, you are just the left's version of a wingnut ("I don't care that Issa didn't actually tell a lie, I know he's a liar!" sounds a lot like "show me the birth certificate!," as if a certificate of live birth isn't a birth certificate).
Issa was saying how he only got "20K or 30K" total over 10 elections. If you tally the figures up, it looks as if Issa racked an order of magnitude more than that on just a single election.
But thanks for your "concern" though....
you embarrass yourself with your poor reading skills.
Your reading AND math skills are in question, however.
$9,000 + $9,000 = $18,00 from Blue Cross/Blue Shield.
What did Issa actually say?
"After that there's probably somebody that's given me $20,000 or $30,000 over ten election."
Even if we spot Blue Cross/Blue Shield $40K in contributions, where's the beef? Try again, but come at me with some facts. You make this too easy.
And seriously, I don't like Issa at all. I think he's a douche. I just want to see valid indictments (a la Alan Grayson) instead of the liberal version of Cheney's "dithering." Lose the weak sauce already.
... you are welcome to keep digging though.
Issa has millions. He can go forever without PAC or tainted money.
but he doesn't!! He is just another scumbag politician selling favors for cash and future favors.
Alan Grayson also has millions, yet he took money from PACs.
http://www.opensecrets.org/politicians/summar...
There's nothing wrong with taking money from PACs. And there's nothing that says that if you can pay full boat yourself, you must. Frankly, you're making the same arguments that the conservatives make against liberals all the time, as if caring about something beyond yourself requires you to take a vow of poverty.
In any event, the point of this post was supposed to be that Issa lied about this issue, but the point was poorly made. Document me a real hypocrite on the order of a Newt Gingrich.
that you have to pull all the stops to protect Issa?
Old Darrell has always had this proclivity for lying his ass off. In fact he does it so often that he once appeared at a rally without it. Had to send a staffer back to the location he'd previously appeared to find it and bring it to him. Luckily they made it just before he was due to go on.
Seriously, this is one of those guys you simply have to assume is lying until it's proven otherwise.
and Isssssa is one of them
a real snake.
sssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss!
who bankrolled the recall of California's governor Gray Davis and ushered in the Schwarzenegger nightmare.
Nothing Issa has to offer is anything other than pure political hackery.
than I can record it.
One conclusive hallmark of a failed state is that the crooks are inside the government, using government to protect and to advance their private interests.
Another conclusive hallmark is rising income inequality as the insiders manipulate economic policy for their enrichment at the expense of everyone else.
Income inequality in the US is now the most extreme of all countries. The 2008 OECD report, “Income Distribution and Poverty in OECD Countries,” concludes that the US is the country with the highest inequality and poverty rate across the OECD and that since 2000 nowhere has there been such a stark rise in income inequality as in the US. The OECD finds that in the US the distribution of wealth is even more unequal than the distribution of income.

That people don't understand that the only reason a republican ever entered pollitics is to further his or her own self interests!
I hate it when I hear them talk about public service. It's like someone scratching a chalk board with their fingernails. What they do has nothing to do with public service! It's all about private service. If we don't get these republican sobs out of our government we are done as a country. God damned close now!
Remember republicanism/conservatism is a mental illness!
the spike in violence in the middle east is being directed by cheney and his pentagon shadow government (he is, after all, leader of the taliban) -- next comes the false flag terror attack on US soil (i predict san francisco) after which, the blaming of obama and the coup on the white house.
