From the Rachel Maddow Show Oct. 5, 2009. Rachel reiterates this report from TPMDC--The GOP's New Foreign Policy: Undermine American Diplomacy:

An interesting pattern has been emerging in the Republican Party's handling of foreign policy: Individual GOP officials are now making a regular point of not only formulating an alternative foreign policy, to be presented to the American people and debated in Congress -- they're acting on it too, and undermining the official White House policies at multiple turns.

• Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC) is visiting Honduras in order to support the recent military coup against a leftist president, which has been opposed by the Obama administration and all the surrounding countries in the region. (Late Update: DeMint's office says he is not taking sides during his visit to the current Honduran leadership, denying the New York Times reports that this was his intention.)

• Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-OK) will be going to the upcoming climate change conference in Copenhagen, bringing a "Truth Squad" to tell foreign officials there that the American government will not take any action: "Now, I want to make sure that those attending the Copenhagen conference know what is really happening in the United States Senate."

• House Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA) traveled to Israel, where he spoke out against President Obama's opposition to expanded settlements. He also defended Israel on the eviction of two Arab families from a house in east Jerusalem, which had been criticized by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

• Rep. Mark Kirk (R-IL) boasted in June that he told Chinese officials not to trust America's budget numbers. "One of the messages I had -- because we need to build trust and confidence in our number one creditor," said Kirk, "is that the budget numbers that the US government had put forward should not be believed." Since then, he has declared his candidacy for U.S. Senate.

Anyone remember this statement by Trent Lott when some Democratic Congressmen dared to visit Iraq prior to the U.S. invasion?

Lott raps U.S. congressman in Iraq:

Rep. Jim McDermott, D-Washington, who is one of three House members visiting Iraq to urge Iraqi officials to avert war by allowing U.N. weapons inspectors back in, has acted irresponsibly, Lott said.

"For him to be in Baghdad, the center of one of the most dangerous dictators in the world, with all kinds of weapons of mass destruction, to be questioning the veracity of our own American president, is the height of irresponsible," said Lott, R-Mississippi. "He needs to come home and keep his mouth shut."

Or these attacks on Nancy Pelosi for going to Syria? Pelosi's Syria Trip: Media Advancing Right-Wing Spin.

As always, IOKIYAR.

Update. Transcript below the fold.

MADDOW: As Republicans search for meaning in the political minority, as they try to beat a path out of the political wilderness, an increasing number of Republican leaders seem to be trying to compensate for their relative lack of power at home by flexing their muscles abroad. Republicans have been traveling to other countries to try to undermine the policies of the United States. You might call it anti-diplomacy.

We first reported this phenomenon in June when Illinois Republican Congressman Mark Kirk bragged that on a trip to China, he had met with Chinese government officials and told them to not trust the American government on matters of the budget and the deficit.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

REP. MARK KIRK: One of the messages I had-because we need to build trust and confidence in our number one creditor-is that the budget numbers that the U.S. government had put forward should not be believed.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

MADDOW: Don't believe the U.S. government, China. Congressman Mark Kirk's great idea for building trust and confidence is to tell China to definitely not trust us.

But a little over two weeks ago, Republican Senator Jim Inhofe of Oklahoma made an announcement. He said that he was going to go rogue overseas himself. He says he plans on attending the U.N. Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen this December and it's because he thinks that global warning is a hoax.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

SEN. JIM INHOFE: All these problems, it just didn't happen. In fact, the IED rate.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

MADDOW: Well, that's not at all-what was interesting part of what he said. What he said was, "I'm going to go ahead and announce now, I'm going to go to Copenhagen. I think someone needs to be there as a one man truth squad." A one man truth squad.

Senator Inhofe says the mission of his little one man truth squad will be to tell other countries not to believe what the United States says when our government negotiates on climate change and carbon emissions. And, you know, when it was just Mark Kirk going to China to tell the Chinese not to trust us, that was weird. Then when it turned out to be Mark Kirk plus Jim Inhofe, when it happened twice, sort of seemed like it might be a coincidence.

But when something like this happens three times, I think it's called a trend-which makes Republican Senator Jim DeMint of South Carolina officially the trend-maker. Senator DeMint is now back from meeting with the de facto government of Honduras, the government that the United States does not recognize.

Mr. DeMint called the meeting with the military government that ousted their president there, quote, "very productive." Adding, "We saw a government working hard to follow the rule of law, uphold its Constitution, and to protect democracy for the people of Honduras."

Senator DeMint is referring to a government that ushered its country's democratically-elected president out of the country in his pajamas, a government that until today allowed police and soldiers to break up public meetings, arrest people without warrant and restrict the news media.

Then today, remarkably, three more Republican members of Congress went to Honduras and visited with this government that we, as a country, supposedly do not recognize. Thereby jumping on the "go abroad to undermine American foreign policy" even though you're an American bandwagon -- this creepy, creepy bandwagon.

this is a perfect example of why.

remember a little thing called PNAC?

these guys are living in a completely different reality than ours, which would make our reality unreal.

Reagan went behind the government's back and made deals with the terrorists in Iran. He actually arranged to pay the Iranian terrorists in money and weapons, effectively teaching terrorists that they could make money off of their terrorism.

And look where that has led us since then. In fact, look at the history of terrorism since Reagan and the Right sold us down the river to terrorists for their own selfish business interests.

The Right in this country has created, fed, and funded the terrorists that have attacked us time and again. From the Marines killed in Lebanon, from selling Saddam chemical weapons, from arming and training the Talliban and Al Queda - it has been the Right's bloody handprints all over the terrorism that has been haunting us, driving our foreign policy, and killing our people.

And behind all of it, always, is the Right with their rapacious, insatiable greed.

Capitolism without ethics or integrity = Republicans.

Don't think for a moment that the Right wouldn't eat their own mothers for a profit.

We saw the movie "Capitalism, A Love Story" by Michael Moore.
It's well worth it. VERY INFORMATIVE
I thought I knew it all but I learned a lot more of what is killing America.
And it is KILLING AMERICA.

The systematic undermining of democratically elected governments by the war criminal Henry Kissinger.

If Republicans had their way, they'd run the U.S. government the way they did Pinochet's and simply make the scientists who research climate change and the protestors for democracy disappear.

Pinochet was our creation. Saddam Hussein was our creation. Osama bin Laden was our creation. No wonder democracy has had such a hard time taking root around the world. We've been doing such a good job at watering the seeds with Roundup.

http://law.jrank.org/pages/8357/Logan-Act.html

What gravels me about all this is that Sen. John Kerry, in committee, told DeMint that he had no right to go to Honduras and meet with Micheletti. Then DeMint got the green light from the GOP ranking member, Mitch McConnell to go ahead.

Even though The Logan Act refers to U.S. citizens, in my opinion, even though they are members of Congress, they still are also citizens and they have no right to go behind the POTUS back or behind the back of Hillary Clinton.

I have to wonder. In light of the fact that The Justice Dept. has allowed Lanny Davis and others to be hired to do P.R. work for Micheletti, DID Obama and Hillary Clinton know in advance of these meetings? And if they did, did they approve of them against our own policy?

Something stinks here and I think an investigation is warranted.

Clinton should have gone to the U.N. security council IMMEDIATELY after the coup and called for the strongest possible sanctions against these coup leaders.

Instead what did she say when Zelaya attempted to return to his rightful place as President? That he was being "RECKLESS"!!!

Wha????!!

this behavior of voted-in politicians who seemingly want to overthrow the government... It can't be allowed any longer. These representatives of the people are not representing the people. Rather they're representing their own and their bought-and-paid-for-lobbyist/corporate connections' opinions and bidding.

Enough already! Arrest them and then let's see where the pennies drop!

we can sort out later which they were guilty of.

ahhhhhh.. the Bush Doctrine....LOL
Start 2 bullshit wars now.. try and explain them later.

)O(

That's gotta wait for the next tax cuts.

Of course the top 5% will be getting more.

From Wikipedia (boldface is mine):

Sedition is a term of law which refers to overt conduct, such as speech and organization, that is deemed by the legal authority as tending toward insurrection against the established order. Sedition often includes subversion of a constitution and incitement of discontent (or resistance) to lawful authority. Sedition may include any commotion, though not aimed at direct and open violence against the laws. Seditious words in writing are seditious libel. A seditionist is one who engages in or promotes the interests of sedition.

Typically, sedition is considered a subversive act, and the overt acts that may be prosecutable under sedition laws vary from one legal code to another. Where the history of these legal codes has been traced, there is also a record of the change in the definition of the elements constituting sedition at certain points in history. This overview has served to develop a sociological definition of sedition as well, within the study of state persecution.

The difference between sedition and treason consists primarily in the subjective ultimate object of the violation to the public peace. Sedition does not consist of levying war against a government nor of adhering to its enemies, giving enemies aid, and giving enemies comfort. Nor does it consist, in most representative democracies, of peaceful protest against a government, nor of attempting to change the government by democratic means (such as direct democracy or constitutional convention).

Sedition is the stirring up of rebellion against the government in power. Treason is the violation of allegiance to one's sovereign or state, giving aid to enemies, or levying war against one's state. Sedition is encouraging one's fellow citizens to rebel against their state, whereas treason is actually betraying one's country by aiding and abetting another state. Sedition laws somewhat equate to terrorism and public order laws.

The sedition act was repealed.

Besides which, one quotes wiki (open source) at one's own peril (and the peril of others).

there should be some Congressional rules about this.

They do seem to get their a great return on their investment.

... for a moment there I thought I had read "going rouge"

I did notice, I think, that she was wearing a little makeup on Meet the (Right Wing Blabbering Tool David Gregory) Press Sunday. So maybe she is "going rouge."

when showing the parrot buggering Friday.

I am happy this was highlighted. These people are truly the scum of the earth. How anyone was convinced that they could be trusted, ever, is beyond me. Obviously we are dealing with fundamentally dishonest and flawed individuals. On the other hand they keep the regulations minimized and do what ever it takes to keep the safe guards of a modern society, such as are in place in every other industrial nation, away from the United States,

Of course they can be trusted. They are the most reliable, trustworthy people in the world... to whatever corporation tosses some coins at their feet.

These scumbags that wouldn't consider for a moment fulfilling a promise to an actual human being will obey their corporate bribers with the inexorability of a reprogrammed terminator.

They have no business undermining this administration...they are what’s wrong with the Republican Party. It seems that they will do anything to further their partisan agenda, selling out the United States Government, selling out the American People and Selling themselves to he highest bidder.

They can be. The process is called elections.
Let's remember every little dirty trick these bastards are pulling, and when they come up for re-election, hit them, and hit them hard.
Take them out at the voting booth, and take out the Blue Dogs, too.

Dont trust 'em for a second.

Imagine if the Democrats had tried to undermine GW Bush the same way Republicans are trying to undermine Obama? There would have been calls for arrests and prison time...

I doubt Obama will fight back- He seems a true Democrat in that he'll let the Republicans walk all over him-and will do nothing to fight back...

When it comes to fighting Republican scum, Democrats are very cowardly..

I am a Democrat and I say 'No More Mr. Nice Guy'...fight fire with fire. I'd like to see a 'Sadam Roll Call' and ask what is it that they really want...which side are the on???

(Late Update: DeMint's office says he is not taking sides during his visit to the current Honduran leadership, denying the New York Times reports that this was his intention.)

I dispute that Zelaya is a leftist, he isn't. But he is to the left of the Oligarchs who have ousted him, for now.

I dispute that Obama has supported him, he has equivocated.

Brazil, on the other hand, has supported Zelaya, who is holed up in their embassy in Tegucigalpa.

The winners will be the people of Honduras, if they can hold out. There won't be any thanks for the US.

Since then, he has declared his candidacy for U.S. Senate.

One cannot trust American budget numbers, but the Chinese know that perfectly well, one cannot trust their numbers either. They learned their accounting trickery from us.

---

I will come back later for the other two points.

We have a right wing party and we have an ultra right wing party.

Zelaya is acting like a consummated a**hole on this one, there are plenty of idiots on the left too. And he is one of them. One can't claim to be a democratic leader and ignore those part of their country's constitution they deem contrary to their "interests."

Not that the military junta is any better, but Zelaya gave them a reason to justify a revolt. Shame on him on this one.

You repeatedly offer your opinion, complete with expletives deleted, without links. Which is your right. It doesn't help anyone, least of all yourself, certainly in this instance because you are misinformed.

I have a dozen links but this is a good article to start (emphasis added):

Brazil and the Honduras crisis
Brasilia emerges as the voice of the Global South

Pedro Aguiar here

Although the United States of Barack Obama have publicly joined the hemispherical unanimity to condemn the coup, word that the State Department and the CIA gave their support to overthrowing Zelaya spread across the Latin American nations, ranging from suspicion to strong conviction. Although no evidence of U.S. interference could be found so far, the century-old history of Washington’s logistical and financial support to “breaches of constitutional order” (to be euphemistic) is a witness for the prosecution.

The euphemism, of course, replaces a description of the US aid and instigation in the overthrow of legitimate governments. Snipping ahead…

It seems the [Brazilian] self-confidence problems are being solved now. The “Itamaraty”, as the Brazilian foreign office is called, has decided to take a firm stance against the coup and to help Zelaya get back into office. Brazil is sheltering the ousted president within its embassy in Tegucigalpa, where he claims he arrived “by his own means” – although we know it’s highly unlikely that Brasília was fully unaware of his coming, something the Itamataty will never admit. In addition, Lula used his opening speech at the General Assembly to demand the immediate return of Zelaya to his elected post, while Brazil called for an emergency meeting of the Security Council. Even other international entities like the Organization of American States and the World Monetary Fund, both formerly supportive of authoritarian regimes, joined the condemnation.

Anything more than that would be interfering in a foreign nation’s internal affairs. Lula has repeatedly stated he will not cross that line, but at the same time refused to sit on his hands. However, that’s exactly what the conservative elites of Brazil are already claiming. This past Saturday, Brazilian ultra-right weekly magazine ‘Veja’ ran a cover story accusing Brazil of "megalomaniac imperialism" – while no line was ever dedicated to the U.S. centennial imperialist tradition. The opposition parties, PSDB and Democrats, are criticizing the Itamaraty for hosting the lawful president. And the daily prime time newscast of Globo TV aired an appalling report on Friday to argue that what happened in Honduras in June “was technically not a coup d’état”, quoting lines from the country’s constitution. Its article 239 says any president who proposes to alter the ban on reelection would be automatically removed, but the broadcasters omitted that Zelaya never did that, only calling for a discretionary referendum.

You have made the same error. Zelaya called for a referendum. He is the legitimate president of the country.

That is the smaller frame in the larger picture which is the steep decline of the US.

Back to my thesis that we have two right wing parties. One is right off the map.

I never claimed he wasn't the legitimate president, I am just saying he was acting like an a**hole on this one just because he doesn't like term limits. He knew damned well that the military was looking for an excuse, any excuse to step in.

Anyhow, you criticise me for having an opinion. And offer an opinion piece from somebody else's as a counter argument and proof?

Tue, 10/06/2009 - 14:16

The piece I offered was a work of journalism, here is another:

Why President Zelaya's Actions in Honduras Were Legal and Constitutional

Alberto Valiente Thoresen, RebelReports Guest Contributor here

Zelaya proposed a referendum to change the law, the precise thing that our right wing buddy in Colombia did.

Here is another journalistic piece:

While the U.S. Dilly Dallies on Honduras, We Continue to Support a Right-Wing Thug in Colombia

Alvaro Uribe could be re-elected through just the type of referendum the ousted Manuel Zelaya has been accused of trying to carry out.

Liliana Segura, AlterNet here

You and I are anonymous voices in the froth.

Provide me links and I will have something to consider about the source of your thinking.

I provide numerous links to the journalism that I find available. If you think there is something counterfactual, document it.

I go through, typically, over one hundred items a day. I can't read everything but I link the items on my hard drive. In doing a search of my links since 7/01/09 I find dozens of pieces.

The names on these journalistic pieces are people in the real world.

---

Again the larger frame is the decline of the US. The Honduran generals who must have remembered wistfully (maybe they even saw a wink and a nod) the US aiding and abetting of unconstitutional action in their neighborhood now are getting that memo.

They are getting it from Brazil, a coming giant awoken from its slumber.

---

I return again and again to my thesis:

we have two right wing parties.

The American people need to get the message and vote them out of power. Both of them.

Update (10/7 11:55):

Where is Honduras headed?

Shaun Josep - Socialist Worker here

A very good piece from someone on the ground.

Wouldn't it be at this point that the President pulls them into the white house for a little closed door session?
And by closed door, I mean telling these fucks to keep their fucking pie holes shut??
What the hell kind of crap is this?

their courage when it comes to tell part of their base to STFU.

How about a little political hardball here - just tell these guys they can go on with their bullshit, but don't expect ONE PENNY of funding for anything in their districts/states.

Since money is all some of these assholes respond to, maybe this would have some effect.

Pelosi and Reid need to play extreme hardball, not just with these Repugs, but with any Dem not stepping up to the plate for their president.

No support, no money.

I hear Reid saying he needed 99 votes for that.

would prove sufficient. Then we could watch the president remove the offending a**hole elected official rather than punish the people who elected him or her by denying them, government funds and services.

I have been thinking about this lately;
It would be really cool if C+L could, at least once a day, go back in time and dig up what these sons of bitches have said in the past about Democrats. Just like this post referring to Trent Lott. It would be eye popping. And then I for one and hopefully others will go to at least one right wing site and let them know.

That is exactly what we need a "fact check" database that compares stories, comments, ideals, thoughts, stances of these individuals and you can just search the database using their name/topic at hand.

There are some that do it like factcheck.org but we need something that aggregates all the dat from all the sources.

Hope the staff decides to do this.

While I wish they wouldn't do it (cause its so blatantly counter productive to whatever goals our democratically elected govt has set), there is an upside... Their future political opponents' attack ads practically write themselves.

In the last months the Right has been fomenting violent revolution, advocating that citizens arm themselves for revolution, calling the president a liar to his face on the floor of Congress, publically calling for a military coup, and now this?

Now Republican Congressmen are going overseas and presenting themselves as a replacement to the lawfully elected government of the United States - even as they get all excited about a military coup in Honduras, where they have equated the ouster of the legally elected president, the supression of all civil rights and the media, and the installation of a military dictatorship as an admirable alternative to the government the people chose.

Do not think for a minute that there are not Right Wingers salivating at the thought of forcing on us what they couldn't get by cheating through another election.

They think they have a Divine Right to force their way on everyone, by any means necessary.

We on the Left keep thinking the Right wouldn't actually revolt because WE wouldn't do it. But expecting behavior from the Right based on our values is a false paradigm. The Right does not share our values, they do not act as we would when faced with the same circumstances.

I think this is way more serious than it looks - and I think actions should be taken against any Congressman who speaks against his government to foreign leaders.

The Dixie Chicks spoke at a concert and were vilified by the Right - but the Right goes to foreign leaders and actually attempts to undermine the government and they see nothing wrong with this at all...they do not share our values.

I used alot of your post to write the Whitehouse:

I think actions should be taken against ANY Congressman who speaks against his government to foreign leaders.

President, please step up on this matter. It is ILLEGAL to do what their doing.

Dixie chicks by privately owned radio stations (using government licensed broadcast frequencies) as precedent to take action against Americans elected officials who spoke out on foreign soil.

I hope he does this right after he rescues Jane Fonda from jail, releases the GITMO Several Hundred and tells us who really killed
JFK. The he can get back to jobs and health care.

My theory is that JFk killed himself........

that they weren't proud the current President was from Hawaii (or Kenya :) they would be heroes to the wingnut crowd.....

How are these people avoiding charges of treason?

If Dems had done this under bush, Uncle Dick would have called the men in black suits.

Republicans : Do as I say, not as I do.

saying these things at concerts, I'm sure the Republicans would be outraged about it, right?

to do that. But of course nobody on the left is foolish enough to suggest it would have been right to take government action
against elected officials for expressing strong opposuition to American foreign policy.

Too bad the Obama administration doesn't have the balls to bring charges. I'd like to see a couple of these aholes have to explain themselves in federal court.

I hope other countries understand that goons like Inhofe do not speak for our country as a whole. I hope they see him for the lunatic that he is and don't believe the shit he spews about climate change being a hoax.

I imagine he will make an utter fool of himself. He will be completely outnumberd by experts and scientists that are well educated and articulate proponents for their findings. The fact that he does not believe in science at all shows what an ignorant vessel he is. I suspect the scientists will rather enjoy bantering with him the same way a cat plays with a mouse right before he eats it. The truly ignorant never realize how completely ignorant they are. It is part of the affliction.

I'm just worried the scientists will believe that Inhofe speaks for the president and the country, which he surely does not. Will there be someone else there representing our country besides him?

than the imperfection of democracy they know nothing about politics. Let us hope they know their science better.

in any way an official voice for this country. That would be absolutely wrong and the wrong idea for anyone to have about him. If the Obama administration is not going to have anyone in attendance at the Copenhagen meeting, perhaps at least the president could send or have someone on his staff send a message of greeting to the congregants and to warn them that neither Senator Inhofe nor any other stray cannon from the United States is speaking officially for the US Government, that if given an opportunity to speak to the assembly, they should be heard in the context of being private citizens and not even as citizens of the United States, but rather, simply as anonymous individuals and that the US government hopes that all the scientists in attendance will parse what Inhofe says with the strictest scientific scrutiny. That itself will be enough to negate any possible impact that Inhofe may hope that he can exert and may even completely negate his having made the trip at all.

idea. And I hope video of his cameo there will be shown all around the world so that the entire world can know exactly what kind of a shit head the senator from Oklahoma is. The people in attendance will know that Inhofe is not representing the american government but that he is what he is, an outlier, and a freaky thorn in the side of progress and transitioning as the world needs to do to a green, sustainable economy. I believe that many scientists will probably be literate enough to already be familiar with his name and position. He has made a spectacle of himself now on the stage in Congress for quite some time. I'm sure that scientists around the world recognize him as being anti-science. He rejects science for his own personal reasons, maybe partly out of ignorance and partly because of his relationship to special carbon-based business interests that color his world view on all topics, that, plus the money that he gets from his business allies. That's what truly motivates him.

Dollar in trouble? Yippie, says the right

I commented yesterday here

These traitorous sons of bitches need to be held accountable for their seditious acts against the United States and our government..and this needs to be shouted LOUD and often so the brain-dead repuke geriatrics and spoiled rich/spawn of the wealthy repukes can hear the message.

They would have been looking for a rope if it were Democratic Congressmen pulling this sort of shit during darth vader's rule.

He compared them to 13 year old bratty kids. Just can't accept the fact they lost their majorities and that elections have consequences.

Steve Benen has said that it's pretty much never used but I think the time has come to dust it off and start prosecuting these rogue congressmen. They are over-stepping their authority bigtime,by speaking against our President's Foreign Policies and they have NO RIGHT to be doing it. Period!

the love it or leave it crowd of my younger years!

Hey Fool, I heard 'Love it or leave it' and after I washed the condemnation, shame, blame, anger, off, I thought about staying or leaving and believe me leaving has always been the best answer for me.

The GOP is another countries wet opp., psy opp. dream come true. LOL. They seem to miss the relevance to there actions, and as we see it comes back to haunt them. I can only laugh with the cosmos on this, Yes such a cosmic irony indeed. They do make a good argument for things like better mental screening for representative, and disconnecting special interests from such heavy influence on government bodies ( I.E. lobbyist/lobbying ). One of my many favorite quotes they show so well at this point is " Wealth is to precious to be entrusted to the rich. " The tea party people are a joke to. The tea party started back when texas republicans did redistricting and some texas voters thought that they where not being fully represented, and so started a tea party with the original idea of no taxation without proper representation. most people could see the flaw in that line of reasoning, but it survived for a time . Then Ron pall courted the crowd and pulled some people in with abolishing the FED and IRS. That's when it turned from a anti republican movement to a republican fringe movement. Then Fox and other republican propaganda machines started to sink there teeth into the movement right as special interest imbedded themselves into the movement to. The tea party crowd has changed 4 times now, and is very laughable. I'm really surprised how drastically it changed over time, and with each sets of puppeteers trying to control the movement or just the media angle. And now we see the GOP inciting people to rise against there own elected government, and undermining US relations, or their actions helping destabilize our country. Anyone could make a easy case for the republicans working for china or some dictatorship like that. And as we see with a shrinking social grouping some are lashing out in different ways, and not adapting to the future. They fight to stagnate while the rest of the world, or super structure rolls right past them, never even bothering to looking back. And as we also see as some realize they have been left behind they will feel resentment toward the rest of us. I'm glad people like olberman and rachel catch some of this stuff some times. Some of the republicans are doing treasonous seditious acts and should be thrown in jail and fined. And some republicans are representing a dictatorship style government, I think we should send them to a country they might fit better in with. Just my 2 cents :)

....who needs enemas?

On Honduras: They ousted the president because he reached the end of his presidency. Their constitution has term limits. Horay to Honduras for honoring their constitution, something America could learn from. You mean they actually want to present options to the American people and debate those options in congress? How uncommunist of them-shame.
On climate change in Copenhagen. Im glad that someone is going to speak for the majority of Americans who do not want or need an additional $2,000-$4,0000 dollars a year in increased costs as a result of cap and trade.
On Israel: The POTUS addressed Israel and said that Americans won't stand for increased settlements in the disputed territory. What Americans was he speaking for? Im glad someone is going and stating an opposing viewpoint.
Dems and repubs have put this country in it's current condition, mere years away from bankruptcy. The C.B.O. in it's most recent long term outlook states that under the assumptions they outlined in their report ( including the elimination of the Bush tax cuts ) that the national debt would be greater than 100% of GDP by 2023 and over 200% of GDP by the late 2030's. Thats bankrupcy folks. All the programs they are pushing will only add to that debt which means they are pushing for the end of America as we know it. Very few of these people, from the president to the congress and senate, represent the American people or this country. If they did they would get on with slashing spending and delaying our ultimate bankruptcy. Most Americans have not yet woken up the the harsh reality facing us. If you care, start calling your reps and demand action on the only real crisis facing America.

The election is scheduled for November 2009. He was removed in June 2009, June comes before November, in the real world.
And supply proof for the term limits, not Drugbo's lying mouth, or FOX personalities.

Majority of Americans? Because you say so? Where do your figures come from? Not a credible source, or you would have said. And if this is a true figure, it's ok to destroy the environment to save a couple bucks? let your kids clean it up? What a selfish bastard.

The Americans he is speaking for is the overwhelming majority who voted for him, not you sore losers. Your Zionism is disgusting.

And your use of the word 'folks' as you are 'telling us like it is' clearly shows you to be a member of Drugbo's Zombie Army.

This is your boy Bush's fault. Wake up WATB.

Good response - correct and to the point.

They will get a fair trial followed by a first class hanging.
I don't think they should be hanged but I don't believe any one of them deserves to be in our government. If we have people like this in our government no wonder it doesn't work like it is supposed to.
These people are there for the money and power it does not now nor has it ever been anything else for these republicans. republican means greedy old white peoples party or the gop.
republicanism is a mental illness!

for all these BOONDOGGLES. Come on, already.

We're in the middle of the biggest economic meltdown in any of our lifetimes, and these supposed public servants can just jump on a plane to South America to have a fling with a girlfriend or to Copenhagen to refute the entire scientific community on climate change or Central America for chats with countries like Honduras that have ZERO to do with what's happening in the U.S.????

If I were their opponent in the upcoming election, I would start gathering a list of expenses they've billed to the taxpayers.

BTW, the U.S. has a long history of undermining democracy in South and Central America to solidify the power of U.S. Corporate entities. If they really cared about democracy, they'd stay home and work on trying to get a fair and accurate accounting of votes in this country.

Going Rogue Retarded

Q U E S T I O N:

WHAT IS TREASON?

.

Ms. Maddow is one of the few commentators out there that thoroughly researches her subject matter and presents it in an orderly and chronological matter.

The Republicans are sending contrary messages to what the President is saying and it has got to stop. The contradictory and negative messages they are carrying aboard are yet another attempt to undermine this administration and its policies. This is in some cases is treasonous in nature. Going to China for example and saying you cannot trust the Congress' actions is anti-American in nature. To contradict the policy about the expansion of settlements in that region is counter production and damaging to the diplomacy and changes that the current Administration wants to affect.

The childishness and sour grapes behavior is now hurting our country and its people. The one and only message that these nations need to listen to is the one that is being carried by OUR PRESIDENT AND HIS ADMINISTRATION. It does not matter what these other people are saying their anti-diplomatic messages are moot and void.

The people that are going Rogue are the Republicans and their message of obstructionism they carry at home and aboard.

in this country to go abroad and contradict official or even tacit policy. It's a blatant attempt to undermine the legitimacy of the country and is a direct affront to the current administration and seems to be very much akin to treason. So, why are these elected officials allowed to do their own thing in this way when it seems to be contrary to the welfare of the country? I personally think that this type of activity should be against the law since these individuals seem to think that what they are doing is correct when it's not. Clearly, they cannot differentiate right from wrong so in this case, there should be law that forbids this type of activity. We have first amendment rights here in this country. But that shouldn't be interpreted as a right that extends to individuals leaving the country to do damage to this country. It's incendiary and insulting and it should not be allowed.
