Rick Sanchez wags his finger at Marsha Blackburn

h/t David and CSPANJunkie for the videos
Rick Sanchez mildly rebukes Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn) for her continued wingnuttery. As the republicans get all self-righteous about a stimulus bill which is supposed to aid an economy decimated by eight years of foolishness by the Bush administration, House Republicans practice revisionist history to minimize their own collosal failure. These proud "fiscal conservatives" [sic] let the Bush mis-administration run wild for eight years, with ne'er a mention of deficits, debt, and not once mentioning something as arcane as balancing the budget. As Dick Cheney said "Deficits don't matter."
Let's go back a bit and examine what Bill Clinton left for the incoming Bush administration:
--A $230 billion surplus, with a projected elimination of the national debt by 2012. [Bush's tax cuts nixed that idea rather quickly.]
--A total national debt of $5.6 trillion.
Barack Obama inherits a deficit projected to be well over $1 trillion and growing for 2009. The national debt now stands at $10.7 trillion, or nearly double what is was in 2000. That is $37,703 for every man, woman, and child in the U.S.

Sanchez?
The teflon news guy?
He's about as slimy as any repug you care to name...if it's the same Sanchez from some Miami news station years ago.
Wasn't that nice of him to recount the Bush history to her. Someone should ask him: "Where was Rick Sanchez when THAT was going on?"
I'm as happy as the next guy to see a Righty get called out but Sanchez is still a pompous windbag masquerading as a "journalist".
I might have 20/20 vision, but I'm definitely gettin' me a pair of those nifty bifocals Mr. Sanchez uses with amazing effectiveness in this clip. Watch what he does with them at 2:30 and 4:30. Even better, watch Rep. Blackburn's reaction each time she sees that he's about to bust 'em out... Priceless.
Blackburn is another right wing blonde bimbo lying b*tch!!
yet many from these groups join in brotherhood to criticize Obama for not kissing their asses and doing their bidding. I hope that the President ignores both.
If those two groups are pissed at Obama...that means he's helping out the majority of those who need help.
The American public is telling both groups to "fuck off" as we type. They can see the guy cares and is trying his best to get us out of this hellhole.
I'm not overly joyous about, but it's not about me.
It's about what's best for our country.
You are on a Progressives blog, outright telling the blog owner to STFU, because he and his staff have zero solutions? You are to the left, what neocons are to the right.
I specifically said "many from each group" offer no solutions, but the exact same criticisms. You've resorted to outright lying.
Whatever. I stand by what I said. You are not a progressive, but a liar. I know of no liberals or progressives that curse and swear at people with disagreeing opinions anywhere on the internet.
I have read your posts...zero solutions.
Where are these "solutions" YOU'RE so generously offering? I only see bitching...
...I'm an extreme far left supporter of a conservative President, who is pissing off Progressives.
You're kind of dumb, aren't you?
Thank you for once again proving without a doubt my correctness in evaluating you.
What's wrong Canuck? Need help fighting?
how she laughs nervously when she says "...I've been calling them out repeatedly."
Liar.
She probably thinks it's girlish and flirty
Like ann flipping her mane all the time.
These proud "fiscal conservatives" [sic]...
Yeah they're pretty sic alright
[hic].
I guess the GOP either thinks we're stupid or have short memories.
All of a sudden -- out of thin air, the GOP has gone and gotten all fiscally conservative on us now that there's a Democrat in the White House.
These Republican scalawags never voted "NO" for Bush's Iraq war and the dozen or so appropriations bills to follow or the $700 billion dollar bailout of Bush's friends and family members on Wall Street who engaged in criminality.
MEMO TO THE GOP: STFU.
Note to Sanchez:
Eat the booger before wagging the finger.
I wonder if it said on the teleprompter "wag finger here". Tis amazing how much of this stuff is choreographed. Theater news.
"Infotainment"
it's so much a given that they've even dropped the hyphen.
"Disinfotainment"
That's what it was. ;-)
It is an involuntary reaction which occurs from time to time after demonstrating the effect of tasering on cable news.
Since Clinton left office, there has been a myth floating around that he actually decreased the national debt. In fact, there was an increase of $281 billion to the national debt from 1998 to 2000. There wasn't a surplus either, just a decrease in the deficit. Clinton simply paid down the public debt by borrowing far more money in the form of intergovernmental holdings. Smoke and mirrors.
I certainly am not saying the Republicans have done any better, in fact government spending as a whole is WAY out of control.
The economy under Clinton was a well oiled machine.
Dumbya wiped out the surplus in his first month or thereabouts if I'm not mistook.
or we will be told about how horrible the 90s really were.
for the poor, poor, rich, white conservatives.
Absolutely the WORST decade for those schmucks.
Hello??? There was No Surplus. You should check your facts.
Clinton repealed Glass-Steagal, at the behest of Rubin and Gramm.
Thereby opening the door to the (Nobody-could-ever-have-expected) consequences.
NAFTA? Is the cause of most of the economic and political upheaval in mexico. drove subsistence farmers from the land, into cities, to the border, to the US.
When did the dot-com bubble burst? March 10, 2000, officially. Still, that is, on Clenis' watch...
Of COURSE!!
What could I have been thinkin'???
We SHOULD blame CLINTON for the current mess...NOT
facts are inconvenient because they are facts...
like the fact that if Bush had continued Clinton's trend, the national debt would have been paid within our generation?
Even though Clinton made some horrible policy decisions, his fiscal policies were actually pretty good.
Faux Krazy Kajun Kool Aid. Gare-awn-teed good.
remembers how great the economy was when Clinton was in power. They forget, it was all just a dog and pony show, with companies like Enron scheming and defrauding people. Ya, Clinton and that "hi-tech" economy did wonders.
People don't grasp that in very many cases, what a government does is not felt until down the road. These are the same people that claim Obama needs time, like a flower just planted.
almost correct. During the Clinton years, all of these fraudulent financial schemes were hatched - all the bubbles were inflated. And, now one by one they are all being popped: hi-tech, dot.com, energy, housing, etc.
Times "seemed" good when Bubba ruled, but the reality is that the set up for the current fall has been going on for decades.
Don't you dare bring reality into the Clinton fables! The only true economy that boomed under Clinton was condom sales. Don't you know that the current economic collapse only happened because of Republicans? The economy sucked under GHW Bush, then got great under Clinton, and somehow just plunged under Bush the Sequel. It's instant like that. Well except for Obama. His is going to take time.
Who is a bit more eloquent than myself...
Explains the situation quite well I say...
*They're trying to blame him because under Clinton, much deregulation happened.
They blythely neglect the fact that at the time, the Republicans controlled Congress and that in order for Clinton to get anything accomplished, he had to make certain compromises legislatively, some of which were allowing some Republican deregulatory bills to pass and signing them into law.
And they neglect the fact that less restrictions isn't a mandate for businesses to act in a criminal fashion, which is what happened during Bush's term.
Under Clinton, businesses had less restriction but greater oversight.
But once Bush came to power, big business bought out the Administration and removed any gadflies and watchdogs and went hog wild, with Democrats powerless to stop them.
You can blame Clinton, but only using cynical logic.*
I'll be right back with the guys name to give him full credit for this.
MorpheusXNYC, over at huffpo, on a simliar thread, authored this post.
Nobody's buying what you're selling, Marsha. I don't think they'll forget by 2010, either.
Here's my take on all this republican fussing and fighting against everything President Obama is trying to do. They are just plain old fashioned jealous of our President and democrats in general.
We have this handsome, smart, educated, family man who doesn't kiss anyone's ass and they just can't stand it. If he becomes as successful as I believe he will be, I think they will all just explode in frustration.
Every single republican in the govt knows exactly what their party looks like right now, so they will fight tooth and nail and tell any lie necessary because that's all they have to work with. To do anything else, would seem to them like admitting they suck as much as we all already know they do.
Anyone know the updated cost of the Iraq War drainhole?
or anything else with Iraq and Plumbing until I knew if Halliburton or KBR had anything to do with the electrical wiring.
You know it's bad when Cafferty throws stones at it. Arguments for or against the merits of doing a stimulus at all aside, the one thing everyone should have been mad as hell about regardless of party was the amount of time they shoved this POS through.
http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/02/17/caffer...
By now many here know I think a stimulus is a bad idea all together, but even if I were for it I can't fathom voting for anything I had not read especially when there is $790 billion price tag with it. As usual the two of biggest idiots in power were part of the problem, Pelosi and Reid. I'll be sure to piss on his door step on my way to work this morning.
The biggest mistake Obama made in his selections was pick those corrupt individuals who helped create this financial mess. We have the fox guarding the hen house people.
What'd you expect?
The foxes OWN the hen houses.
..I'd venture to guess that most members of Congress have read very few of the bills they've voted for or against. How many do you think read The Patriot Act? I or II? TARP?
From what I can tell, most of our Representatives are dumber than rocks and they just vote the way they're told to by party leaders.
The only thing they care about is staying in office (on the gravy train) as long as possible - they'll do whatever it takes to make that happen.
We've been had and the worst is yet to come - stimulus or not.
They don't have to read any of the bills because they are so easy to reduce to catchphrases and talking points. All a matter of the lowest common denominator, I suppose.
Plus, it becomes so much easier to support or oppose something based on "principle" instead of facts. It was easy to support "No Child Left Behind," but it'd be awfully darn difficult to support the making of our schools into competitive businesses.
*sigh* It sucks.
I always turn the channel when I see this bottle blonde, liar, on the panel. Marsha is another female who proves my hypothesis that if they are bottle blonde, female, and have a (R) after their name, or just defend the wingnuts on the reich, they are damaged goods. They were either abused at an early age, not properly potty trained, or they were dropped on their heads at birth. Why else would they be so stupid?
Good point curtilingus: All these programs are about entertainment and little about news, unless it is to spread the corporate talking points.
A good depression would at least get rid of this type of reporting; with nothing to buy and nobody to buy it, these shows would fold like all the others. Then maybe as the country (perhaps the world) picks itself up again, things will have changed and we can get off this consumer/corporate merry-go-round.
I would like to know how many of the bills that passed in the last eight years were read by any congress person. We know they didn't read the Patriot Act bill before it was passed, all except Feingold who read it and went solo when he voted against it.
While they are raising hell over this one and not having time to read it, you just have to wonder what was the last one they actually read.
Your "bailstim" dollars at work. Dow near last year's panic low of 7500. Now what did they tell us would happen if we DIDN'T pass this bill or that?
Love when the media calls out the Wingnuttery that just keep repeating the daily Reslug talking points. Reslugs blame everyone but themselves that uncaringly got American into this disaster by their spending gone wild.
Here's what we need to say to all the GOPers who constantly are coming on tv to rewrite the past 8 years of history under Bush, and forestall any porgress by the Obama administration:
1. You failed to heeding the warning that 9-11 was coming, which costs us millions in lives and money;
2. You failed us by pulling us out of Afghanistan at the precise moment that we could have captured Al Queda, the man behind 9-11;
3. You failed to heed the warning to stay out of Iraq, making a pre-emptive strike on Iraq, a small nation with no proven weapons of mass destruction and nothing to do with 9-11. This not only got us into a military quagmire. It drained our national treasury. It costs the loss of thousands of our brave soldiers and perhaps the loss of a million Iraqis; and
4. You failed us by distracting us from the war we should have been fighting with political and military resources from 2003 onward: the fight for the hearts of the people of Afghanistan. It may too late.
Is Al Queda's wife Peg? I heard a rumor Al's dead.

Could you provide a link for the graph used to illustrate this post? Thanks.
the Republicans are going to quit whining? I thought Blackburn sounded more like a double-talking salesman than a representative of the people. She was quoting numbers like no ones business. The bottom line is, as we all know and some still refuse to believe, the blame for our crumbling economy falls squarely on the shoulders of the Republicans. I am getting so tired of hearing that Obama did allow their input in the stim package. He tried several times, starting before he was even sworn in. If anyone was blocking Republican input, that would Pelosi and Reid. They were the ones who conducted the closed door meetings after it cleared Congress.
Finally, the MSM realizes that one day they could possibly face trials for complicity in this disaster.
The inclusion of members of the MSM (media whores) who intentionally spun Bush's lies to the american people (See PBS special on the role our media played in Bush's illegal/criminal war).
The media has held a trusted and vital spot in this democracy and Bush has contaminated the media messengers. It's good to see Sanchez finally correcting inaccurate statements by these GOP liars.
The people know the facts. They get the facts from documents, hearings, and the internet. If the MSM doesn't begin doing their job, they will be eclipsed soon.
Besides being eclipsed, we will see sickos like Murdoch and his gang of thugs being held accountable for lying to the american people.
IT'S THAT LITTLE STICKLER CALLED 'TRUTH IN REPORTING' LAWS.
No doubt someone tipped off Sanchez about the coming investigations of the media and their total complicity (prima facia evidence exists in their sound bites, etc.) in the criminal launching of a war of choice.
Actually, despite the fact that I abhore having to witness grown men (and women) reducing themselves to whining babies in ruffled panties, throwing tantrums in public, this country is in dire need of unification. It's clear that the Republiscum has no intention of doing so. All of the reichwing locksteppers in the corporate MSM have been outed. Lou Dobbs is the largest, most pompous a$$hole of them all. He's never been an Independent for a day in his lying life! He's a republican through and through and it shows. He's consumed by hatred and does nothing but bias the message every day of his life. How sad that this old "has been" will soon slip into irrelevancy and disrepute.
Sanchez has been doing the same as has all of the hate-filled slimebags on Fox. All disgusting anti-american bigots and haters.
MSNBC's anchors are also slipping into irrelevancy - with two exceptions: Keith Olberman and Rachel Maddow whose popularity is soaring.
CNN is dropped to the bottom of the propaganda pit along with is buddy, Fox News. At one time, CNN tried to be fair and balance and adhere to the TIR laws - no more. They've become total propaganda.
I forgot a few...Nora O'Donnell slaps the liars upside the face and eviscerates or castrates them. Even yesterday one of the MSNBC anchors called a Republican on lies. I think the worm is turning and the MSM realizes that there's a new sheriff in town and a new attitude sweeping across this country.
Either they get back to reporting the truth or they will be no more.
When a country is in crisis, as we are right now, the very last thing we need are people in the media lying to us - right in our faces. Thanks to the internet and fact checking sites, we can call them liars immediately now. Their little "propaganda gig" is up and they know it. Just like Obama, the people will go over their heads and have been for some time. They're the losers who aren't willing to face that reality.
When people's lives and futures are at stake, to hear an anchor overtly lying ups the anger ante and, as we've witnessed, the populist rage against the Republicans has reached an all-time high right now.
That same populist rage is being simultaneously launched in the direction of the fascist-owned and operated, propaganda tools of the reich.
Ban the 24/7 news programs from your household. Disconnect your cable if you don't need it for your internet. The lies and faux news being spun into our homes right now will contaminate your home and everyone in it.
You do not pass a Trillion dollar welfare pork bill overnight.
Believe me when I say, the populist rage is not against Republicans anymore.
Obama and friends OWN this now!
You're simply a load of redundant right wing talking points. And nice little touch of bigotry with your "reparations" insinuation below.
He is probably a descendant of one of the stupid Gringos Mexico let settle in Texas until the pesky Comanche problem played itself out. He is now in the minority while they take the place back and is obviously frustrated.
that we should give tax cuts to the wealthy then?
How about more deregulation for the banking and mortgage industries?
Believe me when I say, you don't know WTF you're talking about.
Welfare Spendathon
Ronald Reagan started it, Bill Clinton finished it and last week Obama was accused of engineering its destruction. One of the few undisputed triumphs of American government of the past 20 years -- the sweeping welfare reform program that sent millions of dole claimants back to work – has been plunged into jeopardy by billions of dollars in state handouts included in the president’s controversial economic stimulus package.
As Obama celebrated Valentine’s Day yesterday with a return to his Chicago home for a private weekend with family and friends, his success in piloting a $785 billion stimulus package through Congress was being overshadowed by warnings that an unprecedented increase in welfare spending would undermine two decades of bipartisan attempts to reduce dependency on government handouts.
Robert Rector, a prominent welfare researcher who was one of the architects of Clinton's 1996 reform bill, warned last week that Obama’s stimulus plan was a "welfare spendathon" that would amount to the largest one-year increase in government handouts in American history.
Douglas Besharov, author of a big study on welfare reform, said the stimulus bill passed by Congress and the Senate in separate votes on Friday would "unravel" most of the 1996 reforms that led to a 65% reduction in welfare caseloads.
Rector, a senior scholar at the conservative Heritage Foundation, argued that Obama’s spending proposals in effect encouraged individual states to add more families to their welfare rolls; the more Americans sign on to the dole, the more state budgets will benefit from US Treasury payouts.
"They have completely overturned the fiscal and policy foundations of welfare reform," Rector complained.
Reparations and redistribution by another name.
Your post will not get much "positive" feedback, when you post from the Heritage Foundation.
Land that Lorne Greene abandoned but QE II still calls her own.
Then you will get lots of respect and positive feedback.
you go to the Heritage Foundation's website and read their material. Can you say NeoCon kooks?
http://www.heritage.org/
what would you expect???
You're just applying a label to provide a certain connotation.
When it's "welfare" it's a bad thing: we think trailer trash with 20 kids and no job.
Truth is, there are plenty of poor people out there with jobs (multiple jobs, even) and maybe one or two kids who are getting shafted right now and NEED that help.
It's not welfare, it's not charity.
It's necessary.
Has anyone noticed the sudden attention the marijuana business has received at CNBC? I just watched a video where they were discussing California's economic emergency and the analysts and staff were very seriously making the recommendation that the governor meet with the marijuana growers association.
This organization has offered to pay the state of California 1 Billion in taxes. All they want is some efforts made towards decriminalization and or legalization.
http://www.cnbc.com/id/29229786
This clip is not about marijuana but it is discussed at the end as a possible solution. Not that I disapprove, but someone introduced an agenda at this network to push for acceptance of marijuana.
What are the taxes paid to Califas by the cerveza peddlers? Is it close to $1 billion? Where do we get in line to be Weed Distributors? I want the Sensamilla distributorship in Fresno. One day my daughter will be just like her role model, Cindy McCain.
I try ricky, but most of your comments make no sense. 9 times out of 10 I cannot even tell where you are coming from, or why you came here.
Now that is funny!!
And the taxes that can be made off of it would be phenomenal, especially for poor broke lil CA...
But one that can only be helpful in the long term I'm thinkin.
I think that marijuana and hemp in particular should be decriminalized, be allowed to be cultivated, regulated, and tax the shit out of it.
Would go a long way to helping our struggling economy...so many useful things can be made from the hemp plant.
That's why big oil and big chemical don't like it.
I listened to Limpballs on my car radio yesterday and he was railing about how the biggest cash crop in CALI-for-nia is weed - beats out even wine grapes.
He was trying to sound as though he thought legalizing and taxing the sale of marijuana was a terrible idea - leading to the complete downfall of our society. But I think El Rushbo was really smiling and thinking how he won't have to pay his maid to pick up his drugs any more...!
He's an oxycontin man.
If he smoked weed he might be a little less of an asshole.
Rick should have started his corrections with her use of the term Democrat Congress. Then ask for any specific instance of her voting against ANY spending under President Bush. Then ask her to offer any plan the Republicans had to offer under this plan, not including tax cuts, that were ignored. Cap it off with her view of how the largest tax cuts in history, signed into law under her watch, helped our economy.
looks like he was about to demonstrate the meaning of"Dirty Sanchez"
What's a dirty sanchez?
Coprophilia
Which is copping a smell not a feel.
Or better yet, ask david vitter.
You can imagine David Vitter's son's embarrassment when he was caught trying on David's diaper. He had some explaining to do.
A dirty sanchez is when during the doggy style position, the guy sticks his finger in the girls butt, then wipes it on her upper lip...
Don't ask me what a Cleveland Steamer is...trust me...you don't wanna know.
I was trying to softball it.
You know
Like rash limpball's.
That ain't copacophelia
It's love of this:

Hmmm, another MILFer -R that parrots repug horseshit. Maybe she and Palin can do a porno together while they spew this crap. At least it'd be a little more interesting to sit through :P
Obama did try to discuss it with the Republicans, but they stonewalled him. They want to behave like petulant children, their antics should be ignored.
And blaming the democrats taking over in '07 for the increase in national debt, for programs and moneys already scheduled by the Bush administration, is beyond asinine.
Where do they get these fools?
Economic Stimulus. H.R. 5140, the Economic Stimulus Act of 2008, passed 385-35 on January 29, 2008 (Roll Call 25). It would provide about $150 billion in economic stimulus, including $101.1 billion in direct payments of rebate checks (typically $600) to most taxpayers in 2008 and temporary tax breaks for businesses. Creating money out of thin air and then spending the newly created money cannot improve the economy, at least not in the long term. (If it could, why not create even more money for rebates and make every American a millionaire?) The stimulus has no offset and thus increases the federal deficit by the amount of the stimulus because the government must borrow the rebate money. A realistic long-term stimulus can only be achieved by lowering taxes through less government and by reducing regulatory burdens.Marsha Blackburn voted FOR this bill.(Source: The New American – July 21, 2008)
