Dick Cheney on Face the Nation doing his last bit of spin on Iraq and Saddam Hussein before we finally get these criminals out of office.
Cheney seems to think that Iraq is better off now than before the invasion and occupation. Somehow I think that the over a million dead and millions more displaced there would tend to disagree with him but hey, what do I know.
Maybe they love living in a country poisoned by DU, with filthy conditions where they're separated from their friends and family that they have left and wondering if they'll have clean water, food or electricity to look forward to in the next day, week or month.
I'm sure other than that all those Iraqis are eternally grateful to Dick Cheney and the Bush administration and all of those in the United States Congress that allowed themselves to be bullied or scared into approving us invading their country for helping to have "liberated" them. Bravo. Mission accomplished. The rest of the world just loves us now, right? But of course, as far as Cheney is concerned, they can just go **** themselves, those ingrates.
I really don't know why he even bothers with the Bush history revision. Everyone knows he could care less what anyone thinks of him or the U.S. or the Bush administration and the damage that's been done while he and Bush have been in office.

You must understand that when he talks about freedom he not talking about individual freedoms or the common man or women. Most especially common women. He is taking about international corporations freedom to conduct business to and for the advantage of the international corporations. We must learn that from Republicans point of view, individual freedoms are a danger to business and therefore a danger to the power structure that they so believe in.

You need to demonstrate just how great things are over there if you're going to shut up those citics on the whiny left. A 20 minute walk through the streets of Fallujah without benefit of your Praetorian guard should be sufficient.
But there are more Cheneys that one can shake at stick at in the clandestine halls of the CIA, Secret Service and all the other hitmen for the failed elites in D.C.. The only way to deal with them is by means of honest, truthful and forthright political leadership combined with as much transparency as possible given the undeniable reality of national security. Good luck on that happening -- if it ever did. It would take more than a little courage for a politician to take this tack and an acceptance that one outcome would quite possibly be another Dealey Plaza.

There appear to be two possible reasons for this optimism. One, things will get so incomparably worse over the next 20 years that people will look back upon the Busheviks with nostalgia. The point is, the decision to invade and occupy Iraq was made long before the Congress gave Bush the authority to go to war. Possibly, as far back as Clinton's second term. I think Cheney really believes this shit.

Better Off/Not Better Off aren't the relevant criteria for judging the success/failure. The cost is the true measure. The cost in lives lost in the Iraq war, especially contrasted with the expectations before the war makes any assessment of how Iraq is doing, now or in the future, a failure.

The phrase is "couldn't care less," not "could care less."
The former means the person has no care whatsoever, the latter means the person does, in fact, care some.
The way it's worded in the article is incorrect (unless, of course, you meant that Cheney actually does care a little, which I'm sure none of us would believe.)
Both sentences are correct.
Couldn't care less and could care less are both past conditional sentences. Both ways of saying this assume that the reader has enough information to imply the meaning, without explicitly stating the condition; therefore, the condition is left implicit. Depending upon what words have been left implicit; either statement could be true.

Problem is that why is he so sure that the current Iraqi government is better than the Saddam government. Only thing that has likely changed is the Shia are now in power as opposed to the Sunni. I am sure this Shia govt is just a brutal as the Saddam govt. I am sure any resistence is dealt with by the Shia militia pretty quickly. And what if Iraq if once again run by a brutal dictator after the U.S. leaves?
