Zach Wamp Complains About C-Street Coverage on the Rachel Maddow Show
By Heather Tuesday Jul 14, 2009 12:00pm
Rep. Zach Wamp's office contacted The Rachel Maddow Show to complain about the C-Street coverage on her program last Friday.
Maddow: Well on Friday's show I quoted an account from the Knoxville News Centinal in which a member of congress who lives at C-Street described one of the most worrying aspects of this shadowy, powerful organization, its secrecy. The Congressman in question is Zach Wamp of Tennessee. He has lived at C-Street for a dozen years and here's what I said about him on Friday.
Zack Wamp of Tennessee is a Republican member of Congress who says he has lived in the C Street house for 12 years. Today, he told “The Knoxville News Sentinel” that the members of Congress who live there are sworn to secrecy.
Quoting from the “News Sentinel,” “The C Street residents have all agreed they won‘t talk about their private living arrangements, Wamp said and he intends to honor that pact. ‘I hate it that John Ensign lives in the house and this happened because it opens up all of these kinds of questions,‘ Wamp said. But, he said, ‘I'm not going to be the guy who goes out and talks.‘”
Maddow went on to say that although Wamp's office claimed he was misquoted on her show, but they have not asked the Knoxville News Sentinal to correct their article and until they do, she's standing by her reporting. Good for her.
I don't think Wamp's doing the GOP any favors by complaining and giving Rachal Maddow another reason to keep this C-Street story alive, not that Ensign and Sanford aren't doing a good enough job without his help.

I love how Rachel, when she gets a complaint like this, repeats the entire report before she responds to the complaint - thereby showing how the complaint is totally invalid. And she does it in her usual cool and professional manner.
Like I said - love that Rachel!
Yeah, she's good.
Just think that Zach Wamp is going to run for Governor in TN. Aren't we lucky. These bible thumpers will vote for him.
Don't talk about the C Street house.
...it's like a fight club.
First rule of C Street: Nobody talks about C Street
;-)
Hasn't the man had enough punishment already just by having to go through life with a name like Zach Wamp?
Why would they they keep their living conditions secret? Are they doing something they're ashamed of.
I've said this about groups like the Masons, Shriners, etc. Any group can't tell people what it is that goes on behind closed doors, isn't a group to which I would want to belong(Philanthropical works notwithstanding). Hmm, "The Family" huh? Let's see, what other group is organized around "families" and has a code of secrecy. Don't tell me;it'll come to me in a minute.
made me roar laughing, POP! Good Job!
Zach Wamp is another free trade zealot at C Street. Like his fellow Christian members, he supported CAFTA. At the time Wamp conceded that America’s trade policies were unpopular but defended his vote remarking that the trade agreement was beneficial to his native Tennessee. In the never ending race to the bottom, Wamp said that “if we ever want to compete with China, we must build alliances in our region with countries - like these CAFTA partners - so we can preserve American jobs and not lose any more manufacturing jobs to China or the Pacific Rim.” The southerner then went on to explain his other reasons for supporting the trade agreement. “During this critical time in American history,” he declared, “we are facing multiple national security implications for U.S. leadership and the Western hemisphere. The influences of communism and dictatorships are on the rise to our South.”
Warming to his theme, Wamp continued “in Venezuela, Hugo Chávez rules with an 'iron fist' and stands ready to team up with his mentor, Cuban dictator Fidel Castro, to expand their influence in these Central American countries. Countries such as Nicaragua and El Salvador impacted by CAFTA must see the United States as a partner - not the adversary - so this region can be stable and secure.” Raising the alarm bell, Wamp continued “instability in Central America might also jeopardize U.S. border security. Should the Communists succeed in spreading their philosophies and regimes throughout Central America, even more illegal aliens will want to flee their countries and cross our southern border.”
Wamp has also signed on as a co-sponsor to legislation which condemns former Honduran President Manuel Zelaya. The resolution chastises Zelaya for forging close ties with Chávez and Cuban rulers Fidel and Raul Castro and for joining the Bolivarian Alternative of the Americas (ALBA), an anti-free trade initiative including Venezuela, Bolivia, Cuba and Nicaragua.

One other thing. I love Rachel Maddow;she's doing awesome work. But if she's going to continue her expose of "The Family" (which she should), maybe she should get around to asking Hillary why she is a member.
or, at least, make it (more) public that she is a member of this ruling class cabal hiding behind a christian sheen.
The primary.
.
These whack-jobs all need as much sunlight as possible shown on them. Who knows, they could be sleeper cell terrorists... you know?
So now we have secret cults working the Republicanazi party.... they have gone so far astray from democracy that the Republicans are simply no longer a viable party of the opposition.
Lookss like Rachel just wamped Wamp all over the floor.
or just a wimp? Whipped by a woman. The boys back at the convent will tease you no end for this.
either -- a gay one! I love it!
The boys in the convent know some of them girls can be stronger
than salvation and pack a mean wallop.
Funny in a not funny way. I don't get it. These people are part of our govt and yet they can keep secrets about their lives. Meanwhile, you and I are subject of any surveilliance the govt sees fit to use.
her Mom will consider this fine man or one of his kin. Willow Wamp
has winner written all over it.
you willingly continue your woeful wrecking of the wriggling Wamp? It's wasteful and wrong.
Wamp willingly waded in. When a window's open wide, why let a winger slide?
Besides, I spent a year of my life in Knoxville.
I'm waising my white fwag.
But not before I get to the one about Palin's daughter
imitating her momma after the mister dies:
Widow Willow Wamp Goes Galt.
I lived in Knoxville twice in my life. Once when I was a little kid and once as an adult. The people I met there as an adult were very nice. I have fond memories of that town and the people.
downtown thoroughfare is Gay Street, as well as all Tennesseans as their next Governor.
This explains why Zach is nervous about Rachel's story.
After years of him as a Congressman living on C Street, his wife, Kim Wamp will be very suspicious if he has any trade missions to Latin America as Governor.
By the way, Blue Lensman, his son is Weston Wamp.
Willow and Weston Wamp. Wedding bells will wring.
I wonder how many blacks, Latinos, other minorities or women live at C St. and under the Family umbrella? Since they espouse disregarding Christ's teaching, therefore Christianity as a whole, I'm curious how many of these puds still call themselves Christians. These guys have PhD's in hypocrisy!
I'm starting to think the GOP is not a politcal party, but a cult.
creepy and hypocritical.
nothing more than whiney, wimpy white men who are drama queens?
No. WATBs.
What are the odds they are having man on man sex there?
we have to ask David Brooks if he's been a guest fot dinner.
I came across a video of a song called "Meth and Man Sex"
but I cannot find it.
You can't find meth and you can't find man sex? ;)
Didn't the video give you any clues?
He can no longer remember the video, the sex, or the lies.
.
This just in from his very own official Congressional website:
A few of Zach’s legislative accomplishments include:
Combating methamphetamine production in Tennessee. Zach helped establish and provide the resources for the nation’s premier statewide task force to rid our communities of illegal drugs and passed bipartisan legislation to protect innocent children taken from meth homes.
So now all you have to do is ask him where he hid all the confiscated meth. This should be easy.
"innocent children taken from meth homes."
He is a Baptist, so he knows those Methodist homes are no good.
I used to be a Methodist, but after rehab I became an atheist. Ath is not addictive.
Try searching PNP. That means party and play.
I was going to make a similar comment only because I think it's weird that these men are, what, living together in a townhouse like over-the-hill frat boys? I don't get it...
I could link you to some videos about frat-house boys and their hijinks.
They are white rich men and therefore they are above the law. Move along, nothing to see here.....
Wasn't he one of the pod racers in Episode 1?

.
Poor way for me to phrase it, considering.
I feel like I have been wamped on the head after listening to Lindsey Graham's line of questions to Judge Sotomayor. Some crazy shit can come outta that man's mouth. He repeated his thing about if he had said what she did about a wise Latina he would have been ruined. But this time he went one step beyond. He said if he was running for Senator and said he would make a better senator because he was a white male and his competitor was a member of a minority it would be all over the news. Is Lindsey saying men are a minority group?
with the black baby thing, if Lindsey had fessed up to being a wise Latina, I'd say they would have brought down the Stars n Bars and run his wiggly white posterior up the flag pole.
He hides his Latino accent so well when he speaks. But his Latina side, well that's a different story.
And Rachel gave it right back to him, re-quoting her new source. I wish the C Street Family would get more attention.
Another fine performance and reasoned presentation made by the Rachel Maddow Show. √

...do you believe in Peer pressure?
This is a "representative democracy". If evolution is true... and I believe it is. This so-called "melting pot" has reached a plateau and so long as we can remain a secular nation... the rest will pan out. ;)
I try my best to be optimistic... if only for the fact, I believe the opposite to be degrading to ones health. I don't know all the answers... I don't think life is easy. One may think money would help and I'd point to Howard Hughes... your neck of the woods I believe?
2008 was proof to me... hence; Don't let it slip away... Get out the vote! Thanks ricky √
Good old Congressman Zac also makes a video appearance during Bill Moyers MUST VIEW interview with a former VP of CIGNA (health insurance giant), who makes a special point about how Wamp distorts the truth about health care....but given "the Family's" theological ties to "corporate capitalism", I'm not surprised Wamp is a hack for them. If you haven't seen the Moyers show, please view (and about 20 minutes in he has a nice segment about how the health insurance industry plotted to sabotage Michael Moore's "SICKO" - using talking point eerily similar to those of Frank Luntz)...

Here's Publishers Weekly review of the book "The Family" (from Amazon book site):
Checking in on a friend's brother at Ivenwald, a Washington-based fundamentalist group living communally in Arlington, Va., religion and journalism scholar Sharlet finds a sect whose members refer to Manhattan's Ground Zero as "the ruins of secularism"; intrigued, Sharlet accepts on a whim an invitation to stay at Ivenwald. He's shocked to find himself in the stronghold of a widespread "invisible" network, organized into cells much like Ivenwald, and populated by elite, politically ambitious fundamentalists; Sharlet is present when a leader tells a dozen men living there, "You guys are here to learn how to rule the world." As it turns out, the Family was established in 1935 to oppose FDR's New Deal and the spread of trade unions; since then, it has organized well-attended weekly prayer meetings for members of Congress and annual National Prayer Breakfasts attended by every president since Eisenhower. Further, the Family's international reach ("almost
impossible to overstate") has "forged relationships between the U.S. government and some of the most oppressive regimes in the world." In the years since his first encounter, Sharlet has done extensive research, and his thorough account of the Family's life and times is a chilling expose.
...Obama ends Bush-era National Prayer Day service at White House
Snip - President Truman signed the first National Prayer Day proclamation, and President Reagan made it a permanent occasion. Under Bush, the day was a political event, confirming a conviction that religion was a core tenet of Republican politics.
(This event is different from the National Prayer Breakfast, held outside the White House gates every year on the first Thursday of February.)

Figures a Christian organization would name itself after a street of bribe-giving, law-buying lobbyists.
...after a clan of mass murderers.
I love you Rachel, now stop being Keith, you're way above that.
Maddow had every right to respond the way she did. Wamp or Wimp or Whatever his name is tried to do to her what Cheney and Rove did to Tim-the-Russet (that is, try to "work the refs" by intimidating them with calls of "I never said that" when it's right there in print or on tape). She did the absolute right thing, because his claim is liable to be repeated elsewhere, calling her integrity into question.
She got out ahead of it and reported a fact: namely, that he disputed her statement and criticized her accuracy. She came back with fact: where she got it from, that she had followed up by again contacting his local paper, and letting her viewers know that both the paper and she stood by her reporting--in case they heard otherwise somewhere else--like, oh, on Faux.
And then, she in effect served notice she wouldn't be messed with on terms any Christianist hypocrite might understand ("bearing false witness"). She took his wimpy, whining ass to the woodshed. Is that "being Keith?" I say, good on her.
Cults rarely like to have people snooping into their business.
and is trying to do damage control. Rachel analytically and eloquently tells him "IN YOUR FACE". Wamp seems to care more for C Street than his voters, that is clear. He made his bed, he should lie in it.
