Wanda Sykes slaps around the critics of the President at the White House Correspondents' Dinner. She takes on Sen. McCain, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Dick Cheney and critics of the President's choice of dog. I love the look on wingnut Glenn Beck's face at about the 2:40 mark. He's obviously not amused.

Sykes: But Mr. President you've had your fair share of critics. You know, even Sen. McCain. Sen. McCain gave you grief about the new helicopter that you didn't order. You know I think Mr. McCain is just a little bitter because he wanted to be in the new helicopter. Just tell Mr. McCain I'm sure if you asked nicely your wife will buy you a helicopter.

Rush Limbaugh, one of your big critics. Boy, Rush Limbaugh said he hopes this administration fails. Yeah. So you're saying I hope America fails. It's like I don't care about people losing their homes, losing their jobs, our soldiers in Iraq. He just wants the country to fail. To me that's treason. He's not saying anything differently than what Osama bin Laden is saying. You know, you might want to look into this sir but I think maybe Rush Limbaugh was the 20th highjacker but he was just so strung out on Oxycontin he missed his flight.

Rush Limbaugh, I hope the country fails. I hope his kidneys fail. How 'bout that? He needs a good waterboarding. That's what he needs.

Sean Hannity....Sean Hannity said he was going to get waterboarded for charity for our armed forces. He hasn't done it yet I see. You know talking about he can take a waterboarding. Please. Hey okay you might want to get waterboarded by someone you know or trust but let somebody from Pakistan waterboard him, or Keith Olbermann. Let Keith Olbermann waterboard him. He can't take a waterboarding.

I could break Sean Hannity just by giving him a middle seat in coach. Oh I need leg room!!

Dick Cheney...he's a scary man..scares me to death. I tell my kids, I say look if two cars pull up and one has a stranger and the other car has Dick Cheney...you get in the car with the stranger.

Wanda!

Some stuff you can't make up!

Bluegal aka Fran's picture

Obama getting one at Boehner's spray on tan was priceless.

"Boehner is a person of color...it's just not a color found in the natural world. Wassup, John?"

And Sykes on Palin

"someone should tell Palin that pulling out at the last minute is not how you practice abstinence" SWISH.

MidwestMaggie's picture

The SunTan? Man Boehner joke was the BEST!

Our POTUS was SPOT ON!!

Tax the Rich's picture

I thought Boehner had cirrohsis of the liver?

He looks like every drunk I have ever known. And acts like them too. A complete self-absorbed asshole.

If I were a psychopath, I would join the republican party, and get in on the gravy train taking the Teabircher morons to the cleaners.

Not a big fan of her but that last line was a classic. Wanda nailed Conservatives and PETA. Da bitch ruled. just doing my best Steele impression.

is intended to be a factual statement

That last line (in this video) was a good one. Pretty much sums it up. America, abused by its previous owner.

BigIslandDave's picture

... it needs to get its goddamn act together. They've become a joke in the service of a salutary cause: treating our animal brethren ethically. Instead of throwing paint on fur wearers, or complaining that there's a city in Germany called Hamburg, they need to SHOW what goes into a fur. Or into that hamburger on your plate.

They're lame and clueless, and it's really too bad.

Fauna forever!

was perfect in every way. Sykes destroyed the right wing douchebags.

I would marry her if I could!

Thank you, WANDA!
Beautiful!
YES!

But I have a feeling the poobahs of right wing radio will be messin' wit the wrong woman!

Heather's picture

and Monday will be worse yet. I expect a full court press from the wingnuts on Fox going after Sykes.

Excelsior's picture

I wanna see if Jon and Stephen will pick it up. It'll probably depend on how much whining and howling the wingnuts do about it.

Never mess with a comedian. They will tear you a new one, upside the big one you already have.

Apparently a panel on MSNBC went after Wanda immediately after the show.

Pat Buchanan was one of the panelists. HA!

ThunderMonkey's picture

They do not possess a sense of humor.

Wanda was great (as always).

I loved her remarks about all the wingers. Poor Pat Buchanan didn't like some of the comments, he thought they crossed the line. Poor babies, they can dish it out but can't take it. Wanda was great.

That was pretty good, but it will still never come close to the awesomeness of Colbert back in 2006... that man has some freakin' balls.

Excelsior's picture

I watched that with my jaw on the floor. It was truly stunning. Sure, there were journalists around criticizing Bush, but as far as I can recall, he was the first one to do it to his face (perhaps the only one). And he did it with such style and bravery that no one could do a thing about it. AWESOME.

I too was abused by this country's previous "owner". Can I get rescued? Can I get a fresh start?

Glad Wanda's still putting pressure on Hannity. Everyone should make a pledge to the troops and remind Hannity live up to his promise:

...are going to do their best to get back at Wanda for this. The truth hurts...and they just got their asses spanked in public.

Wanda, you do rock my world.

chowderhead's picture

The commentators got this all wrong. They were saying it was "over the top", or uncalled for. What they don't realize, or didn't admit, was that tens of millions of Americans have been waiting for years for someone to talk back to the Republican rads like that. Three cheers for Wanda -- pure catharsis! Let's hear more like it -- lots more. It's the only thing that will shut them up for good.

ron's picture

did a pretty good job too.

You are so right chowderhead, we have been waiting forever to hear someone take on the wingers. With any luck they will all pick up their marbles and leave.

MidwestMaggie's picture

You are so right.

Wanda did the job most all of the journalists at the event have not done.
She went with the TRUTH.
Political cartoonists always get Kudos as well.

Van's picture

However, I have to ask....how the hell does someone like Glenn Beck get into a dinner like this?

It's supposed to be a CORRESPONDENT'S dinner. If anyone from FOX was going to show up, I could see someone like Shepard Smith showing up. But a bullshit propaganda artist like Beck?

Also, with all the crap Beck has been spewing on his show about the Obama Administration representing "fascism", "tyranny", "communism" blah blah blah, why would he even SHOW UP at a dinner that basically honors the President?

If you're Gloria Steinem, would you show up at a dinner honoring Michael Savage?

If Beck really believed the things he says every night, and if he possessed any degree of intellectual integrity, it seems he would want to steer clear of any event honoring the president. I think Beck knows that he's peddling bullshit, and he's making millions off of stupid rednecks who don't know any better.

Heather's picture

"If Beck really believed the things he says every night, and if he possessed any degree of intellectual integrity, it seems he would want to steer clear of any event honoring the president."

Beck has no integrity and neither does Fox Noise. I'm sure the network had their reasons for wanting him there. He'll likely have some "man on the scenes" "reporting" for everyone on Monday. I would guess to keep him away from the event the White House would have had to disinvite their entire network, not that them doing that would have broken my heart.

dothehop's picture

If you remember from an earlier post, Sarah "I think I know where the Soviet Union is" Palin had to go back home to see about emergencies there. Who better to invite than Glenn "I do not go off into crazy rants" Beck to the correspondents dinner for Faux.

ThunderMonkey's picture

Don't you know that they way networks, anchors and journalists play this game, is by rubbing elbows with those they want access to. This is why the media has been so complicit with the previous administration: They don't want to lose their access to anonymous sources.

Personally, I find her irritating.

But it is nice to hear the Vulgar Pigboy slapped down.

And, yes, what the hell is Beck doing there? He belongs in a rubber room.

odanny's picture

I guess you just have to realize she brings a little funk to her repertoire. The jokes were well written and said, but with comedy, its often more about style than substance.

All I know is this woman has both.

the republicans are down and out. but i'm really afraid that this will make democrats real friggin cocky. only so many times you should kick em while their down. try to stay humble...

AbsolutTBomb's picture
...

humble against the party of torture and big profit?

This isn't an attack on republicans, per se. It's an attack on those whose lack civility.

legit criticism is always the best. but it will look bad on the democrats later if they appear cocky, as if nothing can stop them, kind of attitude. they should not underestimate the republicans, and they should take them seriously.

Bobbie's picture

It isn't a question of who did a better job. Colbert showed his honesty and courage by taking on Bush in person. Sykes told some really hard truths to the critics of the President and really, she's a Black woman dissing powerful white men. I think Colbert and Sykes both did their jobs well.

deang's picture

Both did well, but Colbert was hiding behind the faux-conservative persona he presents on his show, while Wanda was being herself. Both made good points through humor, but Wanda was really putting herself out there, not playing a character.

chimera's picture

Watch the owned punditry go after her for this.

I liked it when she said "you know you're all laughing inside."

Boehner joke was the best of the night. I'll bet it made him cry again.

ThunderMonkey's picture

I think it's pretty funny to watch a grown man cry.

was the truth, and in fact, was the opinion of 99% of the people at that event including the POTUS!

Great stuff......

Hilarious! Conservatives/Republicans provide a ton of fodder for comedians. They're so hapless, incompetent, and comical.

Tax the Rich's picture

There is nothing funnier than the truth.

The entire republican freak machine, is made up of individuals who come under the heading "you can't make this shit up."

Wow, Wanda hit the nail on the head and showed just how stupid, laughable and miniscule the disappearing Reslugs truely are.

Wanda Sykes was awesome. She took shots at everyone, from Obama, to Biden, to Hannity and Rush Limballs.
Anyone complaining that Wanda went overboard should cool off and laugh for a change.

I'm in Texas (albeit Austin) and I loved it.

Just sayin...

oldretire's picture

President Obama was great Wanda was fantastic. glad I have the internet the Rags will probablly ignore (remember Colbert), and the Faux Noise net work will start complaining it was over the top (remember mustard on a hamburgernow tyhat is news and threating to America). Really great.

Wanda rocks, I laughed out loud. no doubt the wingnuts will be after her now, whch means she's got more fodder to work with. I'd like to see even more comedy taking down those buffoons, so much comedy until it hurts. Michael Steele, it's time to come in from the cold and switch sides.

JohnnyBravo's picture

I really wish that Sykes would (verbally) destroy Steele if he tries to start some nonsense over this.

NOBODY 2012

No way. That spineless, boot-licking, jelly-fish of a man is damaged goods.

Let the Republican's keep their house negro. We don't want him.

He'll live a life of quiet dignity as a doormat for Rush Limbaugh to wipe his manure stained books on.

This way he'll be a shining example of what Republican's really think of black people.

And this way black people will know that the GOP are not to be trusted or respected, especially if your skin is a shade darker than light beige.

Her slag at Limpbaugh was classic. The old sodomite can't air or even reference the clip because he'll have to admit that most of the time he's been yapping at the dittoheads he's been hopped up on goofballs.

Nicely done Wanda.
