Thom Hartmann: Why are conservatives trying to make education available only to rich children?

Conservatives believe if they can afford to send their child to the best schools, and you cannot, then reguardless how intelligent your child might be, their child should be able to tell yours what to do.

The ones I have talked to I really think could care less or would enjoy having slaves. I tell you they are crazy!

Why is this a question? For the last 500 years, education has been something that is expensive, and therefore for rich people or members of the church (poor rich people).

Only in the last 60 years has anyone though that education (a good education) should be some kind of right. Well, it's not a right, at least last time I checked. It's a good idea for the country to have very well educated people, but it's a really bad thing for the rich.

What would happen to all those poor rich kids if they actually had to compete with everyone else based on merit? We don't want to think about that. We don't want to dirty our beautiful minds with thoughts like that.

The best way to run a country is to allow the rich to continue to become richer, at the expense of the poor, and let the poor suffer and die. That is the natural way of things. It's what GOD intended.
