That guy is teh awesome.

Nice follow-up on having a space station treadmill named after him.

Loved this.

Heather - There seems to be some problems with the audio encryption of the Quicktime videos for the Colbert/Daily Show vids. All the MSNBC vids work fine. Thanks for doing what you do.

Heather...just noticed perhaps a similar problem. If I play the embedded video, there is no audio. It works fine if I download the WMV.

Thanks again for posting this one....just love it!

Yeah, same problem, though it seems the embedded player defaults to no volume so you have to up it. Unfortunately unlike other players where you can drag the volume knob to increase the volume and not worry where your mouse position is as long as you hold the mouse button down, this one requires you to move in a straight line, it's rather annoying.

The C&L player stops frequently at a random interval
to catch itself up for some reason. Even if the video is
fully loaded. I never had a problem with the old embedded
video player.

I missed Colbert last night (was at the Bill Maher show)....I saw this tonight on Countdown... David Schuster replayed it.

This is simply brilliant!.....hope more C&Lers see it!

Classic!!

Say what you mean. Mean what you say. But don't say it mean.

...still not as funny as the original ad. :)

Some stuff you can't make up!

The whole thing was hilarious. What a great way to start my day.

A big thanks to the always brilliant Stephen Colbert!

How Nice that Steven was able to get "Bristol Palin" to front his ad.

Thought she looked familiar!

Why do you need to upload the video to your own service? The Colbert clip is freely available on Hulu. There is probably a short commercial, but the people who made the show have a right to dictate where it can be shown online. This is stealing, plain and simple.

Who are you , the internet police?

5kfun's picture

I just think a blog that supported the WGA http://crooksandliars.com/2007/11/07/supporti... who wanted to get paid for new media (aka internet) content, would continue that support by not stealing the new media material.

[Actually, we are ASKED to post videos, by the people who own the rights. If the provider wishes us to use their player, which they sometimes do, we do that (It's why MSNBC content is sometimes presented on an embedded MSNBC player). If they give permission, it's not theft. No need for you to worry, they know we're here, and what we're doing. Thanks for your concern-Sitemonitor]

curtilingus's picture

I think you are mistaken.

It still helps Colbert get more exposure than he would have otherwise. Please call your attorney and report this immoral theft of valuable intellectual property.

5kfun's picture

Because the readers of this blog have no idea who Colbert is. My point is that they could just as easily embed the hulu video into the blog post.

curtilingus's picture

Yes that is a good point. Mild hypocrisy on C & L's part to take a stance on intellectual property and then not follow it (although there may be an agreement we don't know about?)

But, I don't really believe in intellectual property anymore. It is a concept that has been horribly abused to the point where everyone needs a specific license to view any content. Its Bullshit.

That's like selling someone a copy machine and them telling them they can only make copies of things they created.

all hail the hypno toad's picture

You can also only make copies in your bathroom, and you have to pay for the privilege, and you can only make three copies a day, and then the RIAA or MPAA sue your ass off cause it's "it's too similar" to stuff they ripped off from one of their artists.

Hulu is US only. Please link to colbertnation.com or thedailyshow.com instead.

{Sigh,} Like I posted the other day, I am not a computer tech person at all,but all I know is that whatever changes you guys made with your video downloads,Heather I can't watch ONE of them anymore without them starting, stopping, freezing, starting, stopping, and freezing..dosen't matter what thread. I can't watch any video anymore
on Late Nite Music Club at all anymore, which is especially frustrating for obvious reasons. I clean and maintain my system daily
and it continues to happen.VERY MADDENING!!!
Like I posted the other day, I wish you guys hadn't "made better" somthing that was fine before. Sorry, don't mean for this to be a "rant",but it is frustrating to me because I LOVE this site.
It is my favorite of all,and come here 3 to 4 times a day at least.
Any ways, you guys are GREAT,and keep up the good work.
You guys are awesome, and I greatly appreciate it. Thankyou.

Any doctor who has to choose between their faith and their profession, is obviously in the wrong profession.

cburell's picture

the wrong faith.

The fact that Colbert's video is getting more national attention that the original ad makes me very happy :-))))

Colbert is getting funnier, and has a point to.

Goodnight, Frau Blücher

National Organization for Marriage...
or NOMBLA

NOM would have been cathchier if they had called themselves the National Organization for Real Marriage, but that would have involved creative thinking: something these droids don't have.

Good work Stephen. Funny.
