Rick Santorum spokesperson Alice Stewart slipped up on MSNBC Monday afternoon when talking about President Obama's environmental policies. Instead, she called them Obama's "radical Islamic policies."

She certainly did. She opened her mouth, her lips moved and something (we don't know what) traveled from her brain to her mouth. Out came some sounds. Most people say words, talk about ideas and what not. Some just say silly things, they type of stuff you hear from children. Unfortunately, when you don't really know much about the issues and only know what was told to you by nutty right wing radio, you say silly things.

What's the alternative? The alternative is that it wasn't an accident, it was a secret coded message to Republican voters that says 'we both think the President is a Muslim but we can't say it, so vote Santorum 2012!'. And the Santorum campaign decided the best time and place to disseminate the secret code was on MSNBC in the late-morning.

She meant to say "radical environmentalist" and just got the wrong veggie in the salad shooter. Must have been when she conflated global warming with "theological secularism." Some things are said that are indeed a slip of the tongue or "misspeak" but this is not one of those things. When you screw up something you hear yourself and correct what you said as quickly as possible so you don't look like a dunce. You don't talk about the beauty of a flower and accidentally say it looks like shit. That just wouldn't happen unless you truly felt that way.
