Ring of Fire: The Corporate Takeover of America
By Heather Friday Jun 26, 2009 6:00pmPart 1
Part 2
From Ring of Fire and GoLeftTV, Robert Kennedy Jr. and Matt Taibbi on the bank bailout mess and the bipartisan blame for deregulation that led to the financial meltdown:
The stimulus packages and bailouts that the government has been a little too willing to hand over to our financial industries have not only given these giants more cash in their pockets, but they've also given these companies unprecedented power over our federal government. No other industry has been able to show up in Washington and get a blank check with no oversight, which really shows just who is in charge in our nation's capitol. Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. of Air America's Ring of Fire talks about this shift in power with Rolling Stone political correspondent Matt Taibbi.

The Corporate takeover began with the Railroads, the robber barons and was consummated with Santa Clara County v. Southern Pacific Railroad Company.
Santa Clara County v. Southern Pacific Railroad Company, 118 U.S. 394 (1886) was a United States Supreme Court case dealing with taxation of railroad properties. The case is most notable for the obiter dictum statement that juristic persons are entitled to protection under the Fourteenth Amendment.
End corporate person-hood!

Pennsylvania Town Fights Big Coal on Mining Rights
...though it may take a constitutional amendment to do so at this juncture, and I'm not sure that our population is sufficiently educated to the point where it would understand the concept. Also, do you realize the holy hell that Corporate America would whoop up if this were to be proposed? Their entire existence is based on their treatment as persons under the law - this fight would make our present health care debates look tame by comparison.
I agree with you, though. It'll take some time, if we're willing to invest a couple of generations into the effort.
Yes, many of us know full well we are owned lock, stock and barrel by powers we find despicable. The question is, is this condition irretrievable? Will America ever again belong to its citizens? Or are we in the state of "Check" ?
You can always sharpen the guillotine and chop off a few heads. Check? You have the power.
(I in now way condone violence.)
I've read Howard Zinn, and believe that it is now impossible to pull the vampire/EMPIRE off the exposed throat of the American Treasury, which has essentially been bled dry by corporatism from forever no matter the prissy little 'name' changes. So, they don't call themselves the 'Trusts' anymore but a '...........rose by any other name............'etc., only these are vampires. too stupid not to kill the host, too.
coming.

Teddy Roosevelt had it right. If you don't prune the tree it will overtake you and die. Do we wait for the corporations to die? Or do we start pruning these corporations back, stopping the bully economics that come from letting them get too big. Do we use our laws to protect us or let our neglect to law biding thoughts let the corporations smother us? It has suppressed our imagination. We let the devil come in: Ronald666WilsonReagan promised us greed. These people killed the Kennedy's, the Kings and the American spirit. This is your book of revelation. This was "the new world". We must seal these devils and understand that Jesus won't come out of the clouds. That's metaphor for the spirit will arrive. Not physically. Spiritually! The Jews learned that.
Are we too late to engage our laws, or will we throw down our books and pick up our guns? It looks nasty. We Americans are so lazy.
Wake up! Wake up!
PS...I'm really tired of McDonalds 40 year old hamburger. Do you get the corporate drift?
PS...I'm really tired of McDonalds 40 year old hamburger.
I've never actually had one. Maybe one of the very few?
Has a nice relish in it, but BK has the better burgers.
Not if they have been sitting under one of those lamps for 4 hours.

I think we may be waiting a while for Redstate to be "fair and balanced" by putting up any links where a straight man did something similar.

Set aside your differences, for a just cause. You decide.
I always thought it a little "fishy," that with 6 weeks left in the Dumbya administration, all of a sudden out of nowhere, we were told the world would implode in hours if we didn't come up with a trillion dollars immediately.
Like these jackasses didn't know what was going on? They were desperately hoping to forestall it till the day after the election, so that we wouldn't blame it on Bush.
can someone explain to me why the banks would lobby for "cap and trade"...or, did I misunderstand Matt?

a pessimist says " things cant any worse , yet the optimist knows better .
My thought is , we are a small part , those pulling the strings have a long range plan and it is for the whole world . Money ,oil , food = domination point blank . Those in power offer up right vs left , jews vs muslims , christians vs christians etc . etc. , same old BS , they are against us we need to attack BS , who are they ? , a mother and father trying to feed their family are not my enemy , they are my extented family .
So who are they , ah thats the question , left vs right , smoke and mirrows ( sp ) shuck and jive , my thoughts are global b/c it is all about power , and as long as most of the people can be controlled with religon or polotics it is all BULLSHIT . It has never been about the people , only the POWER ELITE , they control the world , should it be NEDA or
JAMES RECTOR ( killed in the Berkely riots in 68 ) , my point is we as a world people have fallen to a few people , who consider us as nothing more than slaves and to add insult to stupidy some people raise their hand and sing .
Unlike most of you , who are a lot smatter than im , ( it took me a hour to type this ) it is my thought (hope )that all we do is help those as those who helped us .
................but I can't get it from I-Tunes any longer :-(

Yes, the government owns you. The government forces you to put on a seat belt, have a fence no more than 3 feet high.
Lawmakers make laws. Laws restrict. The more laws enacted, the less America belongs to its citizens.
I always thought it a little "fishy," that with 6 weeks left in the Dumbya administration, all of a sudden out of nowhere, we were told the world would implode in hours if we didn't come up with a trillion dollars immediately.
-----------------------
It was fishy.
Ben Bernanke pulled in the slosh, a fancy name for liquidity, just before Washington Mutual failed and the stock market crashed. Why would a central banker pull liquidity in a financial crisis? M A N I P U L A T I O N. It certainly got congresses attention. The Senate added some pork and sent the bill back to the House, and 700 billion was extorted from the tax payers.
Bernanke pulled the slosh just before the recent 200 point drop on the DOW. At 4%, the 10 year treasury yield kills the housing market. scaring people out of the stock market and into bonds, dropping the yield and supporting housing.
