Rachel Maddow: Beltway Narrative of 'Republicans on the March' Doesn't Hold Water
As Rachel Maddow reported last week, the infighting among Republicans hasn't gotten any better after some of these very bitter primary races but since it doesn't play into their media narrative of how wonderful things are going for the Republican Party and how we're going to see the Democrats get wiped out this coming mid-term election, most of the beltway Villagers are completely ignoring it... still.

Isn't this indication that the US should finally take politics with more than two-parties seriously?
Current state and federal election laws only favor the two major parties.
To viable 3rd or 4th parties the laws need to be relaxed to allow other parties better access to the polls.
...he uses big words like 'particularly' and 'delicatessen.' -- Jack
Yeah, electoral reform is needed so that third (and fourth) party candidates are not seen as a waste of a vote. STV or a similar system would be great, but it's unlikely to ever get changed since it only hurts the status quo, and as we have seen, even simply implementing a secure and reliable voting system (electronic or otherwise) is a complete disaster.
We have come a long way in terms of voting theory in the last two hundred years. If the founders were around today and they still believed in democracy, they would put in place a far superior electoral system. In this sense the constitution is far from perfect and needs updating.
... was making the constitution a living document.
Most of the founding fathers considered "people" only those white rich males like themselves, thankfully we fixed that. It also follows that the patrician democratic system they put in place following that social vision needs to be updated. Big time.
The problem is that we keep electing are the very people who have the least incentive to reform our electoral process and are at the same time tasked with such reform. So....
CTHULHU 2012 "Why vote for a lesser evil?"
Good point.
I just am amazed that people cannot connect the dots between republican obstructionism, and the fact that they do it because they love the way things are.
And the tea baggers and other idiots think these people are gonna help them?

I mean it. I have been thinking of starting a line of t-shirts with that very slogan. She is the progressive movement personified. She is the only one who is really calling the corp fascists out. She is our Glenn Beck.
to Beck. She has more brain power than the entire fox 'family' combined. And she's not a sceaming, crying psychopath.
"She is our Glenn Beck"
No, she is our anti-Glenn Beck.
Where Glenn Beck uses fear, lies and distortion to keep his audience scared, stunted, and stupid, Rachel uses facts, humor, and logic to keep her audience enlightened, engaged, and entertained.
But I agree - Rachel IS the shit!
How Glenn Beck Makes Shit Up
I don't remember Rachel making shit up.

That's what THEY do ... Like, say Hannity and Olbermann are two sides of the same coin ... not true!
The Anti-Beck or Nega-Beck if you will is more like it.
The EXACT OPPOSITE is what I'm getting at here bushputz had it exactly right I'm just agreeing.
Oh and I think the narrative is set this way so that when they steal the election no one will think anything of it and if they loose they will be able to blame it on voter fraud. It's a great plan really if you can get the entire corporate controlled media to go along with it.
You know what's FUNNY, because they are DISHONEST TRICKSTERS(and everybody they surround themselves with) ... they THINK that EVERYBODY in the world is NO-LESS-OF-A-MONSTER than they are ... ... ...

Frog march them right into those socialist communist Moslem Obama FEMA camps as enemy combatants. I mean, it isn't as if they are not at least as deserving a group of domestic terrorists as the Islamic "wannabes" that Dubya had rounded up on trumped-up charges, just to keep the public frightened to death, and to justify his grab for dictatorial "War President" powers.

Like I told my bat-shite crazy religious fundamentalist Palinista sister, virtually a Big Pharma spokesmodel for all the uppers, downers, mood levelers, sleeping pills, etcetera she takes, and a follower of Glenn Beck, it is not a requirement that anyone who proselytizes in favor of the repeal of Prohibition 2.0 be a user or abuser of illicit drugs. I am not.
Your nearly constant belittlement of my attempts here on C&L to inform and/or educate others regarding the benefits of cannabis, the utter disaster that Prohibition 2.0 is, or the lies and social injustice our government has inflicted on the American people for the past 70+ years is tiresome.
I don't know what you did to wind up behind bars, but I presume that you are either on parole or released. Coincidentally, my sister lives in Texas, and has a penchant for ex-felons, since she has married 2 of them. I think she is always on the lookout for her next ex-husband. Perhaps I should hook you 2 up?

Exactly. It's a narrative put forth by the corporate interests in this society to allow for the predictive pendulum to swing back and forth between the two controlled parties. The less controlled Democratic Party and completely controlled Republican Party. Let's actually work to move this whole society and government in a more progressive fashion similar to that outlined by the late great governor Howard Dean.
"Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people." ~ Eleanor Roosevelt
Although AFAIK, Howard Dean is still alive, and likely owns a reasonably accurate wrist watch. ;)

strongly bipartisan piece of legislation that managed to disburse $10's of Billions of USD to the States to purchase electronic voting machines, long before Federal standards or a testing and validation process was ever put into place. The name was IMHO perfect NewSpeak for "The Political Incumbent Protection Act".
< http://www.blackboxvoting.org > has a good up-to-date journal regarding these voting machines.

Does this mean that voter machines will not look for a "PARASITE program" to AUTO-RUN when you plug the flash card when nobody is looking ? Or is it just another MEANINGLESS legislation form Washington ?

but rather than being careful with the expenditure of taxpayers' money by having established Federal standards, as well as a testing & certification process in place, Congress hurriedly disbursed the funds for the purchase of seriously flawed electronic voting machines by the States before the 2004 elections. These voting machines had been in use by various precincts for a number of years, and there had already been a series of investigations about vote count issues, so it could be said that Congress willfully ignored security issues surrounding electronic voting machines -- not meaningless, but certainly fatally flawed legislation, unless the cynical position is taken that the use of voting machines which lend themselves to vote fraud was the intent (which I contend was the case.)
Your first sentence introduces the contrary to one of the security issues, or "vote fraud "enhancements" if you will, so you already understand at least a portion of the issues surrounding the use of these electronic voting machines.
It is neither the first time, nor will it be the last time, that Congress has demonstrated an unusual "haste" in passing legislation that either wastes public funds for private interests, or that effectively destroys personal freedoms and liberties -- TARP was also a horrific waste of public funds without meaningful oversight, and the Patriot Act passed without anyones total understanding of its impact upon human rights, if published reports are to be believed.

It's good to know that not only the Dim's can't get along with each other, it seems the RepubliKKKans (teaparty) can't either. At the same time for me, it also confirms the fact that the two party system no longer works. As always why are the American People forced to choose between two elite political parties which, like our Government and the country with it, are obviously divided and broken? Personally I'm done choosing between the lesser of two evils. As I have done with State Elections for some years now, I will be casting my votes for alternative candidates. That isn't saying much, but interestingly enough, it seems with each election cycle The Greens in my state always gain a little higher percentage of the vote. With the last one, they gained one whole percent. That tells me people are fed up with Republocrats.
Government + the Federal Reserve = organized crime
Oh Rachel! So hopeful that Republican intrafighting will someone boost Dems. Unfortunately, in EVERY example you cite, the Republican nominee, Tea Party or otherwise, is either EVEN or AHEAD of the Democrat. A little fact you left out.
What does it show? That EVEN with all this bitterness renting them, the GOP is still preferred to the gang of worthless, temporizing, no-principle, me-too Obama Dems who promised the world and delivered not a damn thing in two years except another war, a big bank bailout, a paltry "stimulus" that did nothing for the unemployment rate, and a health care "reform" that shakes down retirees and the working class for the benefit of private insurers and Big Pharma. With this record to run against, short of nominating Heinrich Himmler, the Republicans are shoo-ins. Kiss your Congressional majority good-bye!
It ain't over until it's over or at least it has to start FIRST to claim it ...

Who's dumb enough not to know how long both wars have been going? And which one was utterly pointless.

for both parties--but especially the GOP--the tension between the 'base' and those that control the politicians (see, the rich, wall street, corporations, etc.) continues to grow. the tea party has definitely made some of richistan nervous, as they have the potential to upset the tenuous arrangement between the wings of the GOP. the GOP estab has tried to steer, control, and support the tea party lunacy, but frankenstein's monster is loose and they aren't sure how to get control. the dick armeys and the koch brothers of the right had hoped to use the tea baggers for personal gain and political victory (for the rich), but now have to deal with the fact that the GOP is nominating nutjob looneys over the establishment (see, safe) candidate.
that spells trouble, with a capital T, for the GOP. (and, america too)
The Beltway is shocking in their bias. It's broken. don't trust them.
They consist of the 2% rich elite that wants to sap the middle class dry.
