Pat Leahy on Taking Away Insurance Companies' Anti-Trust Exemption
MSNBC Dr. Nancy Snyderman Oct. 21, 2009. Pat Leahy discusses the amendment being considered by the Senate Judiciary Committee to repeal the anti-trust exemption for the insurance industry. Leahy said he never understood why the industry was ever granted the exemption in the first place and that they do not deserve to have a special shield.

not to worry! (R)ahm won't have any of that.
Some stuff you can't make up!
I can't say that I have much faith in him doing it though. He's up for re-election and is trying to look good for VT voters after a rather lack-luster last 2 terms. This is the second or third progressive legislation he's tossed out there recently but I've yet to see him follow up with really pushing any of it. This will be the first time I WON'T be voting for Leahy. Vermont has a good crop of independent/progressive candidates and it's time for some new blood. I'd like to see a younger person who isn't afraid of losing the corporate connections they've built up over a long career in Congress. Someone who doesn't count Donald Rumsfeld as a close friend and dinner companion!!
