Pat Buchanan Really Hates That Unions Help Get Democrats Elected
While discussing whether Wisconsin's Governor Scott Walker is actually going to be willing to make a deal with the fourteen Democrats who fled the state or not and the rights of the public workers in Wisconsin to collective bargaining on Morning Joe, MSNBC's resident racist and union hater Pat Buchanan lets everyone know why Republicans really hate unions. They organize to help get Democrats elected. And in Buchanan's world, if you're being paid a government salary from the taxpayers and you do that, it's really, really evil and nefarious.
Of course we never hear Pat complaining about corporate lobbyists influencing politicians -- because that's just freedom of speech don't you know. I'd like for someone to ask Pat if it's okay for corporations like private military contractors who are getting no bid contracts from their buddies in Washington paid for by our tax dollars to pay lobbyists or meet with politicians themselves to get a share of our tax dollars. I wonder if Pat is going to complain if the Koch brothers end up getting to buy the public utilities in Wisconsin for some ridiculously low price that rips off the tax payers there. Anyone think we're going to hear him start carping about that? Nope. Pat only cares if the taxpayers aren't happy that those evil union thugs are using money to... gasp... earn a living and collectively bargain for fair wages and decent working conditions. And worse yet... pull out the smelling salts... to support politicians who might have their best interests at heart.
People who work for the government that belong to unions are not spending taxpayer money to support their unions. They're paying part of their salaries. That money doesn't belong to the taxpayers any more than a private sector union member's salary belongs to the company they work for after they're paid. And they've got a right to expect to earn a living wage just like anyone else in America. But the Buchanan's of the world want to paint that as somehow being evil and misusing taxpayer dollars.
I've been at my job and in a union for over 25 years now and I've got a lot of conservative co-workers like anyone else out there obviously. I tell you this latest overreach by Walker and the teabaggers, the Republican Party and their cohorts in the media like Buchanan here is turning off people like I've never seen before. I've seen first hand conservative co-workers of mine looking at this stuff and just being completely disgusted and waking up for the first time to the fact that the Republican Party just hates working people and wants to destroy unions.
I really think these Republican governors and their strategy to go full bore and try to give unions a fatal blow may end up being one of the biggest political blunders I've seen in my lifetime if the reaction from the people I work with is any indication. So you go Pat. You're turning off Republican union members around the country and anyone that relates to or sides with them with your union bashing, just like your buddies in office.

I cannot for the life of me figure out why Pat is on that show so often. Maybe he's their idea of the "fair and balanced" part of Joe's show. He's like the grumpy old fart sitting in the corner and once in a while he wakes up and says something inane or insane. Every body just looks at one another and winks to let each other know to ignore him due to old age and due to his age no one should take him seriously.
Guess joe's show doesn't give a damn that no one watching that show gives a damn about what the elderly bigoted man says about anything.
The only time I remember Pat saying anything of value was when he wrote a piece against the invasion of Iraq.
Say what you mean. Mean what you say. But don't say it mean.
Rachel said we won last Friday. Said it again last night. Why are we focused on old
news? On to Michigan, where Obama's betrayal has left towns in danger of being abolished by corporate appointed lackeys of the Govdernor.
"Folks, this is not your father's Republican Party."
Joe Biden
oops....this puts a kink in the conservative get along..call you congress members to get behind this...

Never mind Buchanan, who is the obvious house far right shill, (like that Bob guy with the bad teeth and suspenders is for the left on Hannity); someone explain to me what useful purpose does Mika serve on that show? She is so desperately out of her depth that it is almost embarrassing. This morning was particuliarly sad as the members of the panel essentially ignored her comments, as if she was some sophomoric teen attempting to join the grownups in a cocktail party conversation. Bernstein almost laughs outloud at her, when she conveyed how she discerned Walker's real intent at meaningful concessions, during a one on one phone call with the Wisconsin govenor. Golly gee Mr. White she is one hotshot Lois Lane type reporter if you ask me!
"someone explain to me what useful purpose does Mika serve on that show?"
Bewbs.
She is a "soft and nurturing" counterbalance to a conservative R host who usually has "both conservatives *and* Republicans... for balance!" to the table. She is a compassionate ideological counterpoint. She also helps relate "lofty ideas" down to the level of common people, letting people think that the arguments are accessible to them through her.
Back to the first point... The hosts have to be good looking. This is a cultural expectation. Joe is not bad, but is getting old. Also, the standard formula is a man and a woman, just like Republican Jesus intended marriage. (Actually, it is to make it feel like an invitation into a home.) Since many of the guests are "conservative intellectuals", which means moldering old Caucasian farts, she is the counterbalance on age, gender, and aesthetics, and so my first point stands.

on her own show. I think the comment was closer to STUPID, but...
Equality for Pat Buchanan: Affirmative action is "unhealthy" to society, but LEGACIES are the greatest thing since white bread(dog whistle!)!
I believe you are referring to an exchange where Zbigniew remarked to Joe Scar that ""That's the wrong question."
"No it isn't," says Joe petulantly
Brzezinski insists that, yes, Joe is asking the wrong questions. Then he adds, "Your knowledge is so stunningly superficial it's almost embarrassing to listen to you."
Mika sat there doing her usual portrayal of a lump.

First: why are the MSNBC shows lining up so many right-wing chattering heads? David f'ing Brooks? David Frum? Buchanan? Michael Steel? And they are allowed to talk without being utterly destroyed? Scarborough I expect it from, but I know Maddow or O'Donnell could humiliate and destroy these people.
Second: Why is that sexist, racist, homophobic, Dominionist old fart given air time? He hasn't changed his narrative in years, and I have yet to see him add something constructive to any argument.
"end up being one of the biggest political blunders"
In my lifetime too.
I hope some of the rank and file GOP realize what is being done to them too.
*fingers crossed*
I wonder when some Beck/Rush type will just ask the question - "Was Walker really a DNC plant?"
lol
"I know that there are people who do not love their fellow
man, and I hate people like that! " ~ Tom Lehrer (1928 - )
I hope you're right. I've lost a lot of faith in the critical thinking skills of the majority of Americans the past decade of so and would love to have some of that faith restored.
Hopefully humanity will one day learn to be humane.
has contributed to some Democratic votes. He's disgusting.
me-oww!
So is Bay, that harpy.
far left loon >.<
I think some of you miss Pat's point. There are tax feeders and tax victims. When the tax feeders ask other tax feeders to give them more money, there is a conflict of interest. When tax victims ask their employer for more money there is no conflict of interest. Same goes for polls on this subject. If you include more tax feeders than tax victims in the polls there is a conflict of interest and the polls will be distorted. Better to focus on the truth than polls.
No. We don't miss Pat's point. He supports an aristocracy of rich, old, white, Christian men and nothing less.
far left loon >.<
Pat probably does support all of that, but he wasn't speaking on that subject and you know it.
The following update contains the most complete explanation of the cause and effect of childhood vaccinations MMR and autism in children and the Big Lie hatchet job being carried out against Dr. Andrew J. Wakefield:
Materialist Analysis of Dietary Supp
We pledge allegiance to the flag of the united corporations of North America, and to the plutarchy for which it stands, one economy, under the worshipped deity known as Ronald Reagan, easily divisible, with injustice, misery and poverty for the masses.
Pat’s ideology is fine, to organize, collect money, donate and paid, undisclosed Ads and support, for business, Public, or Private, remember the very people sitting across the tables in Bargaining, were either elected, or hired by the very people who want there sides position to prevail.
Pat, believes, the money paid to a Public worker, makes their Right’s limited to not having any, even though there just as American and have just as much Right’s. Not Pat, you have less rights only because he wants more Right’s, because he had to pay Taxes.
Once you pay your taxes, the money is the Governments and the people who work for the Government have the same right’s and work under stricter rules, but none the less they get paid and the money is there’s not Pat’s or any other citizens, to limit who, or what they chose to do with it, short of breaking the law, Pat hates that it’s not against law, so have chosen; Legislative fiat’ to rest Right’s from Public workers.
This Publicly paid workers are somehow less right’s than Private is bull, it’s an argument, being bandied about across the AIR-WAVES, discussed as a legitimate argument and it’s not, don’t feed into it Those who make this argument know, the money and who paid and then the people who hire and pay it out makes no privilege, nor is there a privilege over those who work in the Public sector, because it comes from Tax dollars.
This whole argument is to divide the workers and make it seem, and make believers of the tripe hate workers, when they do the exact same thing Public, or Private, they just hate that workers, have organized for better deal, better wages, better benefits, when Business and Elected governance, organize and do the exact same, only you not supposed to see it and make the exact same argument, turning it on it’s ear. People stop being afraid to stand up for your Right, the money’s the same, once it’s paid, the Republican have no right’s over your money once paid and if they did, you’d get a “proviso with each PAY CHECK”, telling you what you can and cannot do with the money… GOT IT.

Workers Unions have to disclose, by Law and spend on elections, 1/10, what Business Unions spend, it's a 10 to 1 ratio and they don't have to disclose Billions spent. That's some Organizing by Businesses. They hate that Workers Unions, spend on Democrats, by majority. Republicans hate that and want to demonize Workers Unions for that alone, it OK for Business Unions to Organized Public, or Private and spend on Lobbyist and Legislation, but don't let worker, or his Unions do it, that unfair... WHY? because Republicans, Conservatives believe they have more Right's and you workers have and should have NONE... GOT IT?
Ministerbruce
and they (Businesses, male or female owners) don't have to disclose Billions spent.
Ministerbruce
But it's great that corporations and banksters put republicans in office.
I'm sorry but if the 14 democrats that fled WI in oprder to stop the bill backtrack at all then they deserve to be recalled themselves. There is NO deal to be made here - dealing is how the GOP get their way - one step forward for progressives and two steps back. No DEAL - none whatsoever other than complete capitulation by Walker and the rest of the GOP.

Just call me Dazed & Confused
The Republicans hate and fear anything and anyone they can't control .
Insanity , it is what it is , there is no understanding it .
I never much cared about unions until recently.
So, thank you, Gov. Walker, for opening my eyes. Republicans and Conservatives talk a big game about "Middle America" and "Blue Collar Workers" and "the Folks," but the very second those same people try to fight for their rights, they get shat upon.
I mean, really? The Wisconsin unions concede every point except one and Gov. Walker decides to be a hard-ass? I hope his 2016 presidential exploratory committee is worth screwing over hard-working Americans.
When is somebody in the DEMOCRATIC Party call these CHICKENHAWKS COWARDS OUT like Buchanan and the rest of these REPUBLICANS that got us into TWO (2) wars and will have every one else FIGHT them So they watch every else BLEED AND DIE for this country while they sit back safe and sound all counfy. Buchanan has a yellow streak up his back A MILE WIDE along with LInbaugh and all the rest OF THESE REPUBLICANS. SOME DEMOCRAT SHOULD GET SOME BACKBONE and CALL THEM OUT.
I saw Pat Buchanan on Al-Jazeera last week, and besides being treated as a credible figure (the host characterized what Buchanan said as very logical--LOL), Pat said that the Saudis in Arabia don't deserve democracy 'if they want to demonstrate in the public square.' So you see, Mr. Buchanan doesn't really believe in democracy or even understand the idea.
Pat Buchanan should be very grateful for union members because there are more veterans in unions than in the Republican Party.
Pat is a warmonger who was to big a Pussy to serve.
"Anguish Over the Darkness of a Man's Soul Not His Skin".
When will Pat speak out against the Pedophile Priests in His Church?
Every time a Rethug apologist whines and cries about how Unions are benefiting Democrats and Democratic policies, you should ask that Rethug, "Do you think the Citizen's United case ruling was correct?"
