Mitch McConnell: Party of No Won't Offer an Alternative Budget Proposal

Mitch McConnell on This Week was asked if the GOP had a comprehensive altervative budget proposal to what the Democrats have offered. McConnell's replies that the GOP is going to be offering amendments rather than a comprehensive proposal.
McConnell: We are going to offer a number of amendments to the Democratic proposal.
Stephanopoulos: But no comprehensive budget?
McConnell: Well it will reframe what the Democrats recommend for America for the next five and ten years and I assure you that the amendments that we offer will not lay out a blueprint for doubling the national debt in five years and tripling it in ten years. That is not what we think.
Stephanopoulos: But shouldn't you have to have a comprehensive approach that lays out the trade offs? If you just have rifle shot amendments then you don't have to make all the trade off that you have to make in an overall budget.
McConnell: Well we're just sort of getting down in the weeds here on procedure. Through the amendment process we would absolutely reformulate the Democratic plan. Whether you have a comprehensive approach or whether you offer an amendment approach is something that parliamentarians can debate. But the point is, we're going to have alternatives just like we had alternatives when they offered the massive stimulus package. We would have spent half as much money. We would have fixed housing and put money back into the pockets of taxpayers. So we have offered alternatives all along the way and we will offer numerous alternatives on the budget when it comes up.
So in other words, NO. They have no proposal and again they're going to do nothing but obstruct. Stephanopoulos is right and the GOP's "rifle shot" approach allows them to take shots at what the Democrats are doing without having to actually say what they would do instead.

Notice how his responses are peppered with the modal "would", indicating they are purely hypothetical, for some alternative universe. In other words, we have no ideas, we just want to be obstreperous.

It's a lot of flimsy NOTHIN'; tenuous drivel.
No ideas, nothing new just more of the same, tax cuts tax cuts tax cuts , no plans.
No clue.
and no one cared what they said, would it still be wrong ??
OT
gratuitous, self-referential question

the republican intentional non-plan for america, i.e., guaranteed failure and depression.
or
the depth of their stupidity; so much so that they won't even let the media help them out of the ditch they dug for themselves.
Greedy "No" Party. All they can do is say "no." I can't decide if they're more aking to toddlers or teens. Either way, they are the party of immaturity, both in terms of temperment and ideas.
steal a page from the current Dem economic thinktanks and argue everything is just too damn small? Increase spending like mad! Come on gang, it stimulates. The more spent, the better for the economy. Dems want to spend X Billion on military? Double it!! Come on Republicans. Outgun the Dems. You've done it before over and over. 1 Trillion for stimulus? Counter that with a 2 Trillion package. Dem economic voices would love you to death because that's what they've all been calling for. Borrow borrow, spend spend.
Locked up deep in the vaults of the super rich is enough money to pay 50 national debts. All we need is for a president to ask for some of it, like Clinton, and *poof* the debt is gone.
What really pisses me off is that, yeah, the budget looks big because this is the FIRST time our two wars have been included. Bush & Co NEVER included the wars in their budgets. These wars were funded by emergency spending bills.
GAWD! I hate Republicans.
...is Stephanopolous for not calling McChinless out on your point. But really, that would be unexpected of George "flagpin" Steph.
is just doing his job.
Just more behind the curtain shuffling by the rethugs.
McConnell: "Well we're just sort of getting down in the weeds here on procedure."
That's where snakes belong Mitch.
... you admit you're nothing but a parasitical plant that needs to be torn out of the ground, down to the roots, or you'll pop back up and spoil the landscaping again and again and again?
That's the best the GOP can do?
And, frankly, I'm not seeing anything being put into the pockets of us plain folk. I see plenty of million-dollar bonuses going out the door to failed executives. (And, really, your contract says you get bonus pay even if you FUCK UP? Damn, our union needs one of those contracts.)
McConnell's lips look like a
withered and desiccated asshole
being held up on his face with his nose.
What happened to the 9/11 post that was on the site this morning? Something about former Bush officials discussing things that happened the day of 9/11.

I am so sick and disgusted with the Republicans and their lapdog mass media ignoring the deficit doubling that has been Republican "fiscal responsibility"!!
They have driven the U.S. deficit so deep that, of course, we don't have the Clinton Surpluss to fund our way free of this recession.
I hope Jon Stewart takes on the deficit lies next!
The Party of "NO" describes the GOP to a tee.
NO IDEAS, NO BRAINS, NO PATRIOTISM, NO AMERICANS!
The republicans have no problem with the bill, because they're reduced to lying whenever asked to cite a problem ("it'll cost a billion an hour!!").
Just pass the bill. If any losers happen to show up while passing, kick them in the face and continue.
jeez,, what right winger didnt get on a sunday talk show today?
The party of no ideas. Except when it comes to torture.
That good old Mitch. Not wanting to take any money from the taxpayers. What a good American. So he's not going to take any money in say....09? Maybe somebody should tell him his state is one of the red states that has been taking money from the taxpayers for years. It's one of the welfare states. And I can tell you one thing, states like Minnesota are getting sick and tired of footing the bill for states that don't put any money into the federal pool but sure do know how to take it.
I'm not sure if this cat looks more like the undertaker or the corpse.
They are not just the "party of 'no'" they are the party whose greed, corruption and true agenda to destroy the middle-class brought us this economic catastrophe - let us not forget that fact.
