Media Matters: Rise Of The Conservative Media

Media Matters releases new video showing right-wing media's leading role in driving movement
Washington, DC - Today, Media Matters for America released a new video demonstrating how the conservative echo chamber operates in the age of President Obama. Conservative activists - aided by Fox News, a political organization disguised as a news network - use distortions, lies, and smear tactics to shape public opinion and influence national policy.
"Unlike the Clinton and Bush years, the right-wing echo chamber is now aided by a network that has thrown any remaining shred of journalistic credibility out the window, " said Eric Burns, President of Media Matters. "The modern conservative movement has gained an enormous megaphone in Fox News that they are using to impact legislation and shape public opinion."Burns added: "People need to decide how long they will allow the policies of their country to be dictated by a media outlet accountable not to voters or constituents but to ratings."
Media Matters did an amazing job putting this video together. I really think it's some of their best work yet.

This is indeed a terrifying compilation. Great job Media Matters! We need more like this. How can we get more people to see it?
I don't know if the way the conservative media savages its opponents and distorts their views says more about the malevolence and bankruptcy of the right or about the passivity and ignorance of the people who follow and believe it.
But these kinds of things is why I quit the MSM in 2003!
These paid lying sons of Bi@*hes started straight out lying in 1999 and have kept on the same track since. Lying and denying for dollars is what they do. You think about it how many people do you know that would lie to keep a job that paid $50,000.00 a year? I can tell you about 8 out of 10 people would. Now how many do you think would lie to keep a job that pays a 1 million a year or more? I can tell you more like 999 out of 1000! That is what we have today. In the msm today we have a whole business of people that have trained themselves to lie. All the money washes away the guilt of spreading false information on a national and international level.
Of course 999 out of 1000 would lie to the world on a lying network like Fox News. The thing is that Fox News is marginalized by a huge majority of the population. It is probably marginalized by most Republicans but the Republicans use Fox News to train the idiot base. The Republicans with money and power use, manipulate and punk the
ignorant(No, ignorant is not bad. It just describes somebody who does not know.) stupid people who vote against their interests because they do what they are told to do by the likes of Fox News. Were you paid to lie? Were you ever told, directly, to put something on the air that you knew to be factually incorrect? Did you refuse, and were you threatened with punitive action/termination if you did not toe the line? Was your position such that you had input on editorial matters, or editorial responsibility?
What are 'these kinds of things'?
You make it sound like it's a vast media conspiracy, from the folks making $50K to the anchors/reporters making six and seven figures.
The truth is, as a video editor, I've got little or no control over what gets written. If I cut a tape showing President Obama walking across the White House lawn, that doesn't mean I also wrote the copy. There's no secret GOP kaffeklatsch every morning, no memos about what political line to hew to.
And this is in San Francisco.
(Of course, I'm working with some people who were in grade school when I was just starting my career.)

print or anything else, I dropped 'em and am one of the 'reasons' the propaganda media is FAILING bigtime!!!!
for the scary music.
death to all but metal.
It was like watching a movie! Certainly got their POV across but maybe overkill? What do I know. I enjoyed it.
remember that FOX uses the very techniques to which you allude when you suggest 'overkill' with regards to this piece. FOX's audience has been weened on television, a medium which has progressively improved its delivery (HD and ginormous flat screen televisions), its graphics (computer generated and uber realistic), its sound quality (not to mention access to popular music and musicians), and its speed of delivery (reporting on events as they happen).
A few weeks ago a Latina told me that Fox is the only news she trusts! And, there are many more people from all ethnicities who are internalizing Fox propaganda as news!
The FOX propagandists must be stopped before they destroy our president and our nation!
Wish they'd used something a bit less "Omen."
It was like watching a Hannity segment on Obama.
The music sounds like Jablonsky's score for Transformers. At least his score for the first movie -- I didn't pay much attention to the music in Transformers 2: JarJar's Revenge. Too busy projectile vomiting...
The Dems sat back for 8 years... 8 god damned years... and let the Resurgent Right trample our system of justice, our environmental responsibilities, our drug & food safety mechanisms, and our Constitution. And now? NOW? Oh, golly gee, The Resurgent Right is saying nasty things... lying even... Oh, golly gee.
It's too late.
The Right is unscrupulous. The Dems are spineless. Some, like Feinstein, are downright complicit.
Worse yet, Obama embraces the worst of the Bush years, protecting torturers, domestic spies, war-making.
It's too late.
The Right has won...
The Rabid, Reactionary, Resurgent Right has won.
Three years from now, Christianity will be our State Religion, and FOX will be its Vatican.
Ain't no way I'm gonna live in a fascist, right wing theocracy!
Not gonna fuckin happen!
We'll all be in forced re-education camps.
I'd rather die on my feet than live on my knees.
I am looking at Lichenstein, Luxembourg and Fenwick as relocation spots right now.
It's happened already and you ARE living in a FASCIST
dying state that is being driven by BLOODYISRAEL, where US slaves pay for Universal Healthcare in BLOODYISRAEL. Happy Trails to 'ya.
...
regime...we wouldn't be able to talk about it here...hell, the blogs would probably be shut down. And dissidents would be in jail or dead.
No...we came close...and I do believe there are people still trying to make it happen...but they lost their momentum in Nov. 08.
And I will fight tooth and nail to make sure this country will never fall under the fascist boot. Even if it kills me.
Don't bet on it. They are a very small minority. Sure Fox has good ratings (3,000,000 viewers?) but that is a very small number. Most of them are people over 60. That translates into a lot of money for Fox but it does not mean that they are a minority. In fact the people they highlight like Saray Palin and Rush Limbaugh are rejected by the power players of the GOP. They are getting worried about the monster they created as I type. The race in New York has the power people in the GOP very very worried and angry. For Palin and now Pawlenty to buck the GOP is a huge problem for the Republicans. Fox will be pushing for the outlaw Republicans to keep it up. Maybe the GOP will lose control of Fox as the Party go off the rails.
It does not mean they are a
minoritymajority. Damn.thesquanderer
They employ the same tired, cliche tactic that the Right uses in feeding fear. Instead of the 'gladiator', Carl Orff-esque sonic backdrop, they should have had calliope music. The best tool against these guys is humor...spoof them. Not the silly, kindergarten stuff, but the artful, intellectual evisceration that Jon Stewart delivers so masterfully.
Storm and close down all conservative media operations, stuff all the employees into a van or truck and screech off?
Arrest Ailes and Murdoch, their top cronies, and charge them with sedition...Faux noiz doesn't need to be shut down...just remove the propagandists and dismantle the propaganda apparatus.
Would be to charge FOX with making illegal campaign contributions to the GOP in the last election. Because every hour they produced in that period was a one hour infomercial on behalf of the Repugnicant Party.
About 10,000 individual counts, apply the maximum fine to each one and even a billionaire like Murdoch would be relegated to the breadlines.
I would like to see Cheney and Rove in orange jumpsuits first.
but faux needs to be handled as well..
Better'n my idea!
Much better!
much sway over what happens here in our government? Does anyone remember that Murdoch issues a list of talking points daily for all his businesses? One man, many mouths. We need the Fairness Doctrine reinstated and strengthened. And ALL corporations held accountable for their actions. That would be a good start.
i think the video is deficient in that it doesn't give talk radio the 'credit' blame it deserves for making this disaster possible.
fox's audience is much smaller than the talk radio audience. those 1000 stations and their coordinated UNCONTESTED repetition are essential for fox and the rest of the propaganda effort.
tv and print don't have the repetition to create like radio can. when the GOP operatives get on TV they are riding a bandwagon of credibility created because limbaugh and spawn blasted tens of millions of earholes with the same talking points and framing all week. acorn was getting blasted on radio for years. van jones, weeks. they need the UNCONTESTED talk radio monopoly, protected by call screeners, to make the absurd, false, and irrational acceptable by prechewing it to an often captive crowd the size of the one that voted for obama.
it's easy to listen once in a while for local sponsor's phone numbers and call and talk to owners and managers. most are just trying to get on the loudest station in the state and still think of limbaugh and hannity as political entertainers and need to be told there are many in the community that think of them as lying hatemongers playing a big part in obstructing progress on many issues.
today i spoke with a local union head who bought ad time on the giant state limbaugh station. he was glad to get my feedback - was trying to get the most coverage and didn't really think of limbaugh as a constant anti union mega voice, only heard a coupe of the less anti-union local guys once in a while, and still hadn't decided to continue. i've heard university and the US food stamp program ads on limbaugh! and why would a seller of energy efficient windows advertise on the guys who do regular global warming denial segments to obstruct the tax breaks and energy efficiency incentives that will increase their business?
when progressives ignore the biggest soapbox in the country they give up their free speech rights because that soapbox is going 24/7 using the biggest megaphones in every state to drown them out.
every one of these stations needs to be picketed when they lie about progressive candidates and causes. and their local sponsors need to hear from progressives that they are supporting paul reveres in reverse who are nothing more than launderers of corporate lobbyist talking points and GOP attacks on democracy.
those 1000 radio stations are the samson's hair of the right wing propaganda machine and it is unfortunate media matters, while it does fantastic and essential work, still doesn't quite get it on talk radio.
Don't believe their hype just because they have LOUD voices. Even my Beck watching brother doesn't buy into all the crap they espouse.
While they keep piling charge upon charge, they confuse their message. Sure, you've got a fringe group who believe in this stuff and they seem to have made the GOP their bitch. But don't confuse them with the majority. Fox has 2 million viewers. That's a tiny percentage. I know, it can be dangerous - minorities can push hard when they are motivated and organized. (After all, we, the Left used that to push anti-war in Vietnam.) Just keep fighting back. Don't give up even if you feel pessimistic and fear the worst. Keep fighting back.
The perception is huge, the reality is tiny. Reminds me of that episode of Star Trek where they're fighting an ominous threat that is pure illusion as Kirk realizes and then defeats.
with our remembrances of episodes past of a fictitious show with a persistent tiney cult following.
There were some powerful social messages in those early shows. I didn't watch the later series so I don't much about those.
until that one character destroyed the fabric of my marriage.
Sorry to hear that dude.
I've heard the original Star Trek referred to as Kabuki drama. Everything happens on a parallel and we know, by their make-up often, the nature of their characters.
Some think it paralleled our involvement in Vietnam.
When I was a kid and watched ST back in the day, I was impressed by their attempts to wedge philosophical, social or political (topical at the very least) arguments in between fist fights, romance and chase scenes.
To keep this sort of on topic, I think ST was seen as a Liberal construct with their prime directive and how often humans were the inferior minds, but if I remember correctly, they always seemed to find reasons to blast the sh-t out of others and that Kirk's gut was often superior to aliens who over-thought things. Is that back on topic. If not, ignore me.
Not to get too off topic, but Star Trek has quite a few conservative fans and Star wars has a lot of liberal fans. But in the great debate between us as to which franchise can beat the other, the 'Warsies' as we call them tend to use the tactics of Limbaugh and others to try to prove their side would win. One of the better Trekkie debators is a deffinate conservative but he really gets to the warsies so thats cool with me.

Obama apologist. Pass the Kool Aid when you have had enough.
a clear and eloquent case regarding Obama and his achievements, and the train wreck of passive aggressive smirk you use to squash any perceived dissent regarding this administration.
You'd be surprised how similar are both the angry pom pom "Obama can do no wrong" squad and the chicken little "Obama can't do any right" brigade, in this site.
Some of us have no problem accepting the fact that Obama is a human being and as such, he is bound to achieve great things and also make mistakes.
.
and fuck themselves.
You ut the "angry" right back in the pom poms where it belongs.
Now I'm gonna wipe that passive agressive smirk off my chops
and slice off a little chicken little with my occams razor and make me a sandwich. With a little mao and dichot mustard.
You elitist!
desperately aimed at your need for condiments.
a sammich without condiments?
and have become an elitist mustard muncher now?
isnt' it? Juan Cole's final sentence--"[w]hile it is a bit of a relief not to be subjected to the constant propaganda of the Bush administration about its creation of shining cities on a hill abroad, the Obama administration has gone too far in the opposite direction, hding its light beneath a bushel"--places the onus of responsibility for sparse M$M coverage squarely on Mr. Obama's shoulders, instead of emphasizing that the M$M is doing everything it possibly can to quash anything that shows Obama's successes.
quite ironic indeed.
written by Media Matters president David Brock. A must read on the history of the right-wing smear machine currently employed.
... the right-wing smear machine isn't anything new. They dusted off Joe McCarthy, polished a few turds, and presto! New World Order!
Great. This is just fucking great.
On the right we have a bunch of people trying to scare the shit out of their base. The only thing stopping a lot of bloodshed in this country is more reasonable minds not being overcome by fear.
So now we have the left trying to scare the shit out of their base.
Why don't we all just skip work and start slaughtering each other and get it over with.
Yeah, great fucking video.
And yes, that is exactly what the right is doing and it's obvious. We don't need all the ominous "oh my god they're going to destroy our country they must be stopped at any cost" stuff.
We're smarter than they are. The only thing stopping us is that our spineless "majority" won't just step up and be the majority.
There are a lot of things they should just be doing. No debate necessary. They do them because they are the right things to do.
Torture prosecutions. Leave out politics and just send those involved to prison. That's it.
Medicare for all. No debate. Just fucking do it.
No bailouts for companies that screw up. Too bad.
Etc.
What we don't need is our two puppet parties basically keeping every fucking one of us at each others' throats to divert attention from themselves. That's what they're doing.
Why the fuck are we helping them???
"our two puppet parties keeping every fucking one of us at each other's throats." What has the "spineless" party currently in the majority done to put its followers at the throats of the other?
Which mindless network are they controlling to foment raliies where people bring weapons?
My point is that we don't have to play the fear card. That video could have gotten the message across and left out the fear.
How about a video of intelligent people watching those clips and pointing at the talking heads and laughing at them?
Basically mock them for being the stupid, ignorant people they are.
Instead, the message is that the right wing is winning and we're all gonna die unless we resort to any means necessary to stop them! Oh noes!!!!!!!
Like I said, you had me until the last line. I think the answer is to be vigilant in flooding other networks with complaints whenever they show themselves to be lazy, Fox-copying pseudo journalists.
but it's my line and I'm keeping it. :)
whey (with apologies to the Kurds).
to find out what cool gadgets I coulkd have bought to make someone's
dream of $63.47 an hour working part time at home come true.
Isn't this brainwashing? Isn't that what fox is doing? Then for some reason, the other channels seem to feel they must talk about the insanity too. By doing so, they seem to be giving it credence.
tried to call FOX out, but folks like Jake "Smoke Detector" Tapper
of ABC rushed to defend a "sister" network. They are too lazy not to cover what everyone else covers, too timid to call a lie a lie, or too greedy not to keep their employment options open
Maybe all the cable news channels have become so lazy that they are willing to contribute to the rising ugly discourse in this country so they can sit back and cover the ugly results.
how much time they cover themselves covering the way the others are covering the ugly results.
Um you should already know the answer to the question. At least confirm it before you too become a victim.
Frankly, I'm tired of the news being the news.
You know what would really work? Just ignore them. Don't talk about them, don't write about them and they become irrelevant.
you know where I learned about Fox news? Left wing websites. Before that I had no idea who they were.
Now we've helped them make the big time by keeping them in the spotlight.
As soon as the left learns to ignore these guys they WILL become irrelevant.
(here's where everyone jumps in and tells me I'm wrong because they know it won't work even though it's the only thing they haven't tried and everything they've done has worked so well which is why Fox no longer exists)
Never gonna happen.
The only way they become 'ignorable' is if their ratings evaporate.
But their relevance is a fault of the left, not the viewers.
...nonsense.
That's like blaming the dealer for feeding the junkie.
The progressives are like the treatment clinic in this scenario.
We can't help those who 'feel good' denying reality.
I think back when we had a Fairness Doctrine you could ignore the news, but ever since it was done away with we've had polarized media and can no longer trust it. Of course the media has been lying to us long before Faux, back to the days of yellow journalism brainwashing citizens into supporting immoral wars.
Give me a break, Evet. You are insulting me by saying that I might become a victim of brainwashing by the likes of Fox.
wash that FOX right outta my hair,
and watch that network built by the friendly animated rodent.
Sounds like some Mickey Mouse organization to me.
mass animated murderer of the American literary imagination.
Have you read Carl Hiaasen's book, "Team Rodent, How Disney devours the world"?
I enjoy Hiaasen's work. Thanks for the reminder.
I've been to a couple of his book signings. He tells funny stories in person too. All of the weirdness in his books is based on real weirdness he came across as a reporter. Not in the same way the books present it, but real non the less.
have an ex Governor who skulked through the mangrove swamp and hung upside down from overpasses in hurricanes?
I always kind of liked the guy walking around with the pit bull head clomped on his arm.

But I've been devouring Tom Dorsey's books lately...friggin hilariously insane reading.
I HIGHLY recommend it.
I think you mean Tim Dorsey. I met him when he did his first book tour. While he was touring down here in Florida we kept a regular email correspondence going. He had some funny stories about the old people at his book signings and how they were clueless about his book and his humor.
I think Hiaasen leaves Dorsey in the dust. There can only be one Hiaasen!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AEEaT_UQnVM
..says that if you want to find sites published by the far right, you do a search on 'far left,' 'extreme left' etc. The reasoning behind this is that radicals on either end of the spectrum don't recognize their own extremism, or if they do they don't want others to recognize it. Everyone wants to be perceived as being in the reasonable middle, as well as in the majority.
So the simplest way for FOX "news" to demonstrate how fair and balanced they are is to show us the number of times that Bill O'Reilly has described anyone as being from the far right. He can easily be shown describing positions held by the majority of Americans as extreme, radical, moonbat, loonie, ad nauseum.
The problem is that FOX and for that matter most of the rest of the MSM represents an extreme and diminishingly small segment of America - the oligarchic corporatists.
into a very small and elite group know as the 1% who controls 95% of the money in this country and an unknown amount of money in the entire world. Don't forget that fact.
In a dream world with flying unicorns, rainbows and little birdies chirping at your feet would you ever find this mythical "can't we all just get along and sing kombiyah middle". I think it's pretty much human nature to be biased one way or the other no matter how much we may try to hide it or deny it in My only problem is the extreme right and their ability to mainstream their kooky conspiraices and views even the so called extreme left didn't have to ability to mainstream their conspiracies as we see with the far right. Bill O'Reilly will never mention or go after the far right. He would have to go after himself, hannity, beck etc.
what is really funny is fox keeps calling everyone else the main stream media, at the same time touting their ratings, which is ok. more people watch the CBS evening news than all the cables combined all day. the best thing about fox is they are marginalizing themselves into a little niche group that will never have enough power to take over anything in washington.
we do love the foxettes fake spray on tan, and mini skirts. billo always has his loofah ready in the can at work....
about the North Vietnamese Military "a little niche group that will never have enough power to take over anything"
Fox is basically a leisure and something for nothing machine so we won't have to worry about D.C. becoming Saigon at least.
I say there's no such thing as the mainstream media. It's a talking point created by Rush Limbaugh.
The concept exists only to create the fear of being singled out as biased, therefore the media must hew to the right to avoid any perception of being 'left'.
That fact answers all questions.
" ... what is really funny is fox keeps calling everyone else the main stream media, at the same time touting their ratings ... "
Right. I've noticed that myself. The problem is the FOX viewers are idiots who can't put two and two together unless it's spoon-fed to them and it also happens to fit into their pre-established belief systems.
FOX can say stupid, hypocritical, contrarian crap all day long like that because its viewers lack critical thinking skills. FOX viewers are the sheep happily led to slaughter.
fox is visual icing for the talk radio lie turd pie
Not sure how true this is, but I heard Murdoch's News Corp is looking to acquire NBC with it's pesky liberal MSNBC division.
consolidation . . etc.
" ... consolidation . . etc. ... "
Another great irony and hypocrisy of the right. They jump up and down in a frothing furor at any mention of socialism and liken it to communism, yet they do everything in their power to consolidate the media to be under one, single corporation.
Republicants are the most communistic pieces of shit I've ever seen. They HATE free enterprise and they most certainly HATE competition in the business world.
The truth of the matter is they hate fairness because they are too damn stupid to compete on a level playing field.
They are cheaters. They are scoundrels. They are killing this country.
a willing seller and cash flush banks to lend to a willing buyer.
Like house flipping only on a larger level.
What a cheesy video. Almost Beck-like in its presentation. Sorry, but I don't see how this sort of nonsense helps the progressive movement.
and launched that politically incorrect torpedo right at the water line, uboat.
a sad-ass claque of passive, played-out, defeated dreamers too depressed to form a coherent thought about what's really going on
totally lost in sentimental fantasies about what we once were.

the Libs and the Tards bashing Obama, he'll for sure be a one termer
was the key to their future back when he became a junior senator. Whatever that's supposed to mean.
Let me guess, are you supposed to be the "Centrist"? What liberals are bashing? Are you mistaking criticism for bashing? Or is this just a hit and run piece to equate any legitimate liberal criticism with conservatard hate speech.
to quote from the article - "People need to decide how long they will allow the policies of their country to be dictated by a media outlet accountable not to voters or constituents but to ratings."
The days of the Running Man & Rollerball are not that far off. Next up after that? Gladitorial combat to the death, right here on the teevee. It'll be a ratings smash, and people won't care about their government so long as they can see the Arabs, Mexicans, and other undesirables killed live on the air.
This country should really be ashamed of the direction the right is trying to take us. I pray that it does not come to pass.
Whatever makes money and they can get away with is what they will show. And it will only continue to get worse UNLESS the people start to demand a RESPONSIBLE use of OUR AIRWAVES. And that goes for cable too.
It's not impossible. The government regulates the pollution created by chemical corporations and mining companies. The government regulates what can go into our food. (Most of us here would argue they don't regulate enough, but they do nonetheless.)
And the government used to regulate the media. A certain amount of educational programming every day. That they carried a certain amount of NEWS programming, not OPINION. And the Fairness Doctrine.
Most importantly, they need to put PBS on EQUAL footing with the commercial channels. They need to give people an alternative to pure unadulterated CORPORATE information.
I have been saying this for two years now to anyone who will listen... The media is to blame for this, period. And not just Fox… they all feed on each other for what? RATINGS=MONEY. A duh….
You figure it out?
I'm tired of trying to explain. Damnit people, get a clue stick... stop watching this kind of stuff, stop listening to it, and read for yourself the real information and news that is available to you if you just took the time instead of planting yourselves in front of the idiot tube.
Until this video and others can be placed on mainstream tv for a wider audience, conservatard propaganda networks will continue to go uncontested. I fear that the only way we will break the back of the propagandists will be aftre one or more of their listeners finally take their advice and does something horrendous. America will not become like Nazi Germany, we are still way too diverse, I do see us becoming like certain parts of the middle east, with home-grown terrorists doing whatever they can for whatever ideology they happen to follow that day.
I can only hope that if it does come to that, the wing-nuts try to foment a real revolution (like that silly online game a week ago), because a second civil war will be even more one-sided than the first one was and will have the same outcome. So many of these wingnuts love them some WWII and imagine themselves to be GEN Patton or some such, the reality of a real war is lost on them, they expect American exeptionalism will win the day not realizing that our victories usually come from cooperation with others as well as our allies. Who do they think they could allie with?
Take out the Rachel Maddow part, it's going to be confusing to people who are NOT media junkies and don't understand where she is coming from out of context like that.
Also, that quote from Rush about "wanting Obama to fail" is taken out of the context that he wants Obama's "bad policies" to fail, not wanting him to fail and hurt America. I hate it when the left stoops to the level of the right and trumps up things that are out of context. We have enough legitimate facts on our side; we should NOT resort to the tactics of the other side.
I hate Rush and love Rachel. This video helps Rush and hurts Rachel. Please edit it.
go ask them to.
Only Communists read Pravda
Glen Beck Reads Pravda
Ergo Glen Beck is a Communist
Sarah Palin reads everything, Katie.
Guess that makes her the "it" girl now.

who foment violence, sedition, and mental illness (/snark) ought to be taken to jail and held until their trial as traitors. Plain and simple... Let's start with BillO the Clown and FecklessBeck... whaddaya say?
When will progressives apply pressure on the mainstream media to accurately portray what FOX is doing? Media matters is at the forefront of the discussion and all I see from the MSM is that the White House is trying to control the press. I am appaulded that journalist/editors/producers are not saturating the media with reports on the misreprentation of facts Fox makes on a hourly basis. I am beginning to believe that most journalist and people who are in positions to make decisions about what is seen or printed are cowards, lack integrity, and mostly and just as dishonest as Fox reporters. Where is MOVEON, Color of Change, and other organizations the have the resources to reach millions. It's time to revolt against the psuedo-media. Information should be presented to the public based on facts and void on opinion, spin and not with false statements intended to misrepresent and/or deceive.
and the thought that somehow the mainstream media is supposedly liberal or even neutral at best is laughable. When the mainstream media flock to defend fox because they were called out as not being a legetimate news outlet was all the confirmation I needed. A News network that encourages and facilitate in the anti-tax teabagging party demonstrations loses any type of crediblity it could have even as a right-wing media outlet. Imagine if MSNBC did anything close to that during the Bush Administration. MSNBC would have been shutdown like then and there. I have no problem with freedom of speech. I say let the right wing looneys spew all they want as long as they work their side of the room and stop trying to mainstream their kooky conspiracies and extreme views.
...the sad thing is the right-wing MSM is being slowly replaced by a web-based wingnut media that has no tether to reality at all.
Fox is full of global warming deniers.
By comparison the 'net is full of flat-Earthers.
This is the descent of the right from principled opposition into full-fledged nutbag fascists.
Nice collection of video. Thought the music was too mellow dramatic.
I find quite puzzling that a country of some 300 million people can allow Australias most repugnant export to direct your extremely important political debates. I understand the inherent divinity of both, spiritual and physical freedoms, but to let an entity such as the Murdoch operation influence your rights to the above is quite puzzling. We have some of the same type of News Ltd trash over here. Personally I refer to them as morons messiahs.
That was a good video, they only thing they left out was a clip of Bachman and others making a case that the census is evil and telling people to resist it followed by a newsclip of the hanged census worker in Kentucky stripped naked with the word fed scrawled across his chest.
