Mary Matalin Still Claiming That "Everybody Has Access to Health Care Today"
Mary Matalin is still putting out the lie that the Republicans have anything to bring to the table on health care reform other than the status quo and that "everybody has access to health care today". Wash, rinse, lie, repeat. And if that doesn't work, repeat it again.
I can't believe she's still running with this notion that emergency rooms equal health care because that's what her statement amounts to.
KING: Mary, how do the Republicans feel that the poor will be involved. How do they get those who can't afford it to get health care?
MATLIN: The notion that you are not for big government take over of health care, that you're for the status quo, you're for no health care reform, is one of those straw men that the Democrats like to employ. Republicans have on the table and will come back to the table with a number of ways to reduce the cost of health care and health insurance, all of which were at various times in and out of the bill from pooling for small businesses, for consumer infusions, for market- based plans, for tort reform (INAUDIBLE), all the rest of these things that control the cost. This is not affording health care to everybody.
By the way, everybody has access to health care today. That is another misnomer, but a tenet of Republican proposal is that there be universal care and the Republicans did contribute to passing CHIP and health care for children. So the notion that the Republicans are out there on some sort of fringe limb or status quo where... it's just another one of those bogeymen that people are not listening to on any level, in any of the races that have been run in the last year.

These people are going to be so embarrassed when they develope the capacity to feel shame. But what are we supposed to do while we wait on them to mature?
republicanism/conservatism is a mental illness!
I thought it was redundancy.
What are you gonna start next, beginning every sentence with, "Frist!!!"

F#ck her.
After the interview she was rushed to the local hospital to repair the damage to her face...all on the taxpayer'dime.
isn't she?
What has been MISNAMED, Mary? That's what 'misnomer' means. If I say "Everyone has access to healthcare," it's not a 'misnomer,' you stupid arsed frakking cow. It's a bald-faced LIE. What you are mentally grasping for here is 'inaccurate assessment,' however, THAT would be a misnomer, since you are wrong.
God I am so sick and tired of this stupid fucks, running the show too. Venal, lazy, greedy, grasping and stupid as fuck.
Take some of those fucking millions and buy a goddamned dictionary, whore. Then use it.

just that cynical. She knows if she repeats this crap enough times the clueless tea baggers, LIV's and company will come to believe it. Lady McCheney, Dick Cheney and these neo-con liars have learned that lesson well, and know full well our sad sack of an excuse for a media will never call them on their lies.
The more I watch Larry King the more I think he looks like possibly the worst interviewer of late on network television other than possibly Mrs. Greenspan Andrea Mitchell. He couldn't find a good follow up question to ask anybody if it bit him in the ass.
Well technically she has a point

Sure I have access to medical care, just like all Americans. I also have access to a Ferrari dealer. I can walk into a dealership any time I want and order me a brand new supercar. Only thing stopping me is money.
Same thing with health. Just about everybody knows where the hospital is. You can look up a doctor or dentist in the phone book, no problem. So yeah, in that sense it's not an access problem.
Choose the right words and the problems just disappear.

This kind of nonsense always reminds of that Richard Pryor routine about his trip to Africa. He said that a guy told him he wanted to come to America because "In America you can get something to eat twenty fours a day." And Pryor said that he thought to himself, "You know, he's right, if you have some money or a gun, you can get something to eat anytime." Kind of like healthcare.

Vote GOP and move forward to the 18th Century.
That is the best assessment.
Anyone else notice the beauty standard has morphed into trans territory?
Ann Coulter's evil twin or vice versa? Well...I suppose they can be each others' evil twins.
Has anyone actually seen both of them together, in the same room? Hmmmmm?
Of course I noticed immediately. Tip ladies (Mary M you listening?): MORE MAKE-UP doesn't fix everything. Does it take a man to point that out?

Anybody have any ideas how we can get Fox-Lite to retire Larry King and replace him with someone who knows how to ask a follow-up question?
"Trust no one, Mr. Mulder." - Well-Manicured Man

How about a follow-up question? Hmmmmm....for the unwashed, uninformed masses...
Maybe something like - "Mary, explain to me how everybody has access to health care in this country, and also explain to me how that is paid for, the mechanisms in place and such."
For the love of dog, form has killed function in this country.
If what you want, is to be relegated to the "Looney-Bin," all you have to do is, publicly, get real.
Why do they continue to have these tired old has beens on talk shows? They are so yesterday's news. This woman is a babbling witch, twists the truth, lies, is a George W worshipper and that makes her a social deviate and sociopath. She has no lips, a silly little lisp, a face like a hyena....the political talk shows have got to start doing better - no wonder CNN is going down the tubes - with trash like this on their programs - you can smell the stench of Mary's propaganda right through the TV.

Seriously, this woman needs to only appear on radio.
She must have removed all the mirrors from her home, and make her husband wear a skullcap during intercourse.
Vote GOP and move forward to the 18th Century.
That's not the reason she finds hair in her mouth.

no kidding. Carville is bald. ; o )
Vote GOP and move forward to the 18th Century.
Yeah, but he's still got hair on his back. (Yuk!)
because they already know what they are going to say and lazy Larry doesn't have to think and therefore the viewers don't have anything to think about.
Rich a**holes who know nothing of everyday life for the average citizen. These people make me sick - but I better not go to the doctor.

Bingo! But even though you have point-on described the dilemma, I just wanna add emphasis to the subliminal message:
500 fucking years!!! And the world's fruits are STILL just for the fortunate and connected.
I really can not stand this woman. Maybe she's had one shot too many? I love her husband but, she's a complete wingnut.
...I believe Carville to be a complete fraud who simply pimps political conflict.
How could a man claiming to be Progressive sleep with such an evil liar who is against everything that he supposedly stands for?
I've often wondered about this. It's one thing to have some political disagreements with your spouse, but quite another to be totally on different sides of the fence about EVERYTHING.
On the other hand, weren't William F. Buckley Jr. and John Kenneth Galbraith supposed to be good friends?
Dunno how that works.
... the polarization and lack of civility we have today.
I have friends who are conservative/libertarian, and we get along just fine, even if we disagree on issues like global warming.
That's because you're friends aren't "leaders" or politicians, or radio hosts, or tea-baggers, or.......
were actual human beings....that's the main difference.
"Egotism is the anesthetic that dulls the pain of Stupidity" - Frank Leahy
Are you really sure they are different sides? I think it's more like two sides of the same coin.
I think you're right here. They both like the game. They prolly argue politics and then make it into a sex game/make up sex/discipline. (Sorry for that image, in advance.)
One of my friends and I are polar opposites in politics, but she and I have good times with non-political things.

Good questions, any answers?
One thing 'when he sleeps with her, he really sleeps'.
the republicans have no interest in health care insurance reform. the "notion" having the ability to go to the ER is health care access/affordable is ridiculous. the cost of ER visits that can't/won't be paid for are shifted to the paying pool. thus raising the premiums of the paying pool that happens to be slowly shrinking. the republicans were/are about party before country. they politicized this entire health care insurance reform so to gain the white house in 2012. the BUSH administration were masterful at using fear tactics to guide the masses........they did it again. HEY matalin take it easy on the klown make-up.

Yeah, heard boehner say something about scrapping the current bill and starting from scratch and I'm thinking we already caved into all of your demands and all you've done is obstruct. so now boehner, what would you do different? Pay dimocrats to obstruct new legislation too? That would be a little different, I mean I know all you all are being by health care companies to get them the best deal you possibly can aren't you? Then we get to listen to that matalin lady who is the biggest tool in the world.

Emergency rooms are supposed to be used for...get this...EMERGENCIES! Not if one has a cold or the flu. Uninsured people using emergency rooms as their primary care physician is one of the reasons that healthcare in this country is so ridiculously expensive. It costs roughly $700 for someone to go through a hospital's ER.
Mary, please crawl back under your rock and stay there.
But the reality remains, 'What other choice do they have?'
has access to a health opinion. You can always go down to the emergency room where they will be happy to tell you what you're cause of death will be.
Hasa Diga Eebowai
treatment is denied in emergency rooms too.
What if your diagnosis is cancer? How much good is an emergency room visit going to do you? Heartless bastards.
Of course we have access to care. After your cancer or AIDS or diabetes or other chronic disease has progressed to the point you so sick that your rotting flesh makes you appear to be a public health menace, they will take you in the ER where they will tell you that you are beyond hope, and you should have taken care of your illness earlier, when there was still a chance to save you. Of course, back then, you couldn't afford health care.
Candideinnc
I can personally attest to the reality of your scenario(s). It was a heart-wrenching, tragic slap in the face that said, "You're not worthy, sit over there in the fucking corner and die."
It wasn't me, but my companion, and he did die 10 minutes out of the waiting room, where we sat for 29 hours waiting to see a doctor that never came. This was in Houston, Texas.......not Haiti.
That's very sad. I'm sorry to hear your tragic story.
It's barbaric and inhumane.

There's no such thing as hunger (excuse me, 'low food security'), because people can go to a food bank or soup kitchen.
There's no discrimination on same-sex marriage, because they have civil unions.

Let's take a month off from the healthcare debate. Hey Chris, why don't you just retire NOW?!
Heather, almost a year ago when the health care fiasco began John A. put up a blog and wrote how excited and relieved he was, that we would finally get decent health care reform. One of his points of confidence was that democrats were "now" in the majority and implied reform would be a 'cakewalk' (my word, I don't remember his).
I recall, kind of snickering to myself at the naivete he was displaying. I thought, 'Well, of all people, certainly John Amato realizes the probability of political pitfalls. Perhaps I am reading too much into his written optimism.' I advised him then, not to count his chickens......That I did not share his view it would be a "cakewalk"- to wait and see.
Well.............
Not everyone has access to health care today. But almost everyone has access to a tv or radio or newspaper that is perfectly willing to tell you any lie the corporate masters wish to have promoted.

Next time you do a show that is paying you money for your political comments, god knows why, maybe you can have the decency to leave your grandson's high school play to do the interview.
They must deliberately have on old floozies like Mary Matlin because they already know what she's going to say, so they must want to give her a platform for her truth twisting and propagandizing. This is one cold, callous bitch, an elitist who looks down on those who work for a living. I think Larry King is equally tired and always looks like he is fast asleep. I don't understand CNN, they continue to slip into oblivion, still they keep showing these ugly, tired, worn out faces that everyone is sick & tired of.

The term "Main Stream Media" is a phony, self-serving term used by the Corporate Controlled Media in an attempt to be legit, to convey a false sense that they represent the views of the common folk and to divert attention from their overwhelmingly conservative editorial viewpoint and ownership.
Is Matalin chronically ill? Seriously - she doesn't look very good. Has anyone heard anything on this?

Why did they need CHIP if everyone has access to health care? Why would children need insurance if uninsured people have the access they need?
Yes we all have access to health care. That is not what we are want. Why would I want congress to write a bill for access to health care when I already have it. All I have to do is either call my doctor or go down to the emergency room walk in sit down and wait to be called in to an exam. See I have access. I want health insurance. There is a big difference between the two.
It isn't simply insurance that we need--although we do need that. We need affordable insurance. This is what is provided by the civilized countries in the world and is not provided here, where monopolistic capitalistic insurance companies are free to price you out of health care by raising rates through the roof when they see you may cost something and bring down their profits.
Woe to you if you have private insurance and don't have the clout of a big company insurance plan. You have to make the decision whether you can afford food or medicine, or want to sell your home or use your pension to pay for medical coverage. You can either be impoverished and have health care, or have the rewards you have worked a lifetime to gather together, and die early.

...for her 'not' availing herself of the services of a plastic surgeon. Somebody that will change her looks to the point that she's no longer 'so ugly that she backs buzzards off a gut wagon'. Of course there's only so much they can do, but even if they were able to get her to a 'pre-surgical makeover' of Gretta Sustren (sp? but I don't care) it would be an improvement. My guess is that she and the bald coonass she's married to engage in 69s exclusively just so they won't have to look at each other during sex...I mean there's no such thing as enough viagra to overcome that.
(I have my doubts if they'll allow this one to be printed)

First and foremost is transportability so one can remain insured between jobs.
Secondly, you can't be denied coverage due to a pre-existing condition.
Thirdly is more coverage of children primarily with the expansion of SCHIP, with less stringent requirements to enter into these programs, and probably block grants to states to help pay for these programs that are under their supervision.
Fourthly, the most controversial is controlling premium costs by mandating that all will be required to have some kind of insurance. The poorer folk can choose between options in a consortium, those who can afford their own insurance must buy them or face heavy fines, that would then go into financing the program. With all the new business the hope is insurers will keep their prices down on premiums as well as deductibles and copays, since they're receiving premiums from people not yet facing illnesses that would require such expenses.
Fifthly is the plan to tax Cadillac benefits. Technically, it's to tax employer based health care to pay for the health care of those who cannot otherwise afford it. But the idea is there's a number of job fields out there that are higher-tech, with higher profits, and younger healthier workers. This too is controversial, since the presumption is the job markets had soured across the board under the conservatives mismanagement of the economy, including higher sector jobs, and other remployers aren't all that generous with benefits, and they are burned with the rest of us with exponential premium increases with less benefits. (doctors face it as well with premium costs for malpractice).
It's simple really. But it could be more simplified simply by having a more vigorous public option plan, that candidate Obama favored. With the economy of scale available to the government, they could cover more people, with less overhead costs than insurance companies, who would be forced by the larger size of this new competitor to lower costs or risk going out of business due to Smithian marketplace forces.
Even simpler than than is HR 676 which would expand Medicare to all who care to buy into the program.
I'm sure I could go further, but my wine may be besotting my thoughts.

One of the problems is that some of our brothers and sisters are brainwashed by Faux News, and don't seem to understand that they are living in poverty not because of taxes, or social programs that help the poor. They are poor because they are treated like worker/slave/drones by the very corporations and wealthy individuals that they idolize. Not realizing that the myth of them ever being rich is the sedative that keeps them asleep, and unaware of who is keeping them poor.
If they would just awaken to the fact that affordable health care, and housing is a human right. If they joined with us in worker solidarity against the banks, millionaires/billionaires, and Wall Street then real reform could actually take place. We could all have health care, housing, and our basic needs met. There is more people among the working poor in America then people who are wealthy. If we could just look past the divisiveness of blue state/red state, and see each other as our brothers, and sisters. If we could all see that being rich is not the ultimate goal in life, but to have our basic needs met and help our neighbor if he or she does not.
This witch of a woman has no clue what's she's talking about when it comes to healthcare. The message that's been missing from the Democrats on healthcare is that it should be treated as a moral imperative. The legislation that's come out of Congress thus far is lengthy and Americans don't understand what's in it or how it will affect them, so many are accepting the Republican's explanation that it's govt run and will be unaffordable, etc. Unfortunately, the Dems aren't giving us anything else. They've done nothing to explain what's in the bill, which has allowed the Republicans all sorts of leverage to muddy the water with their wild lies and accusations. In other words the Dems have done a lousy job of selling this or educating the masses about what's involved.
How about some kind of alert that if we keep scrolling down we're going to see an image of this woman? I about lost my lunch.
... is the best argument I can think of for Death Panels.
the definition of "access" means the right to walk into a Hospital ER and demand to be seen for whatever medical reason. The ER will eventually see and treat you - no guarantee of follow up until your next trip to the ER - and yes this does apply to everyone, whether you can pay or not. The "or nots" are piling up and killing the delivery system, and Nazi Mary knows that, too - she's just leaving that part off.
She's starting to look like her husband.
