Lou Dobbs Tonight With a Double Dose of Birther Crazies-- Orly Taitz and Alan Keyes

Dobbs fill-in Kitty Pilgrim brought on Obama birther crazies Orly Taitz and Alan Keyes to discuss the legitimacy of President Obama's birth certificate, because apparently the producers of Dobbs show thought the two of them somehow had something meaningful to add to that conversation. Little wonder after watching Dobbs' piece the other night where he was claiming "new questions are being raised about Obama's citizenship". Who better to trot in there than the Queen Bee of the birthers Orly Taitz for a follow up? And for an double dose of the crazy, Alan Keyes to boot.
To Pilgrim's credit, she did do a pretty good job of thoroughly debunking the birth certificate conspiracy theory before the guests were allowed to weigh in, and she and their two sane guests, John Avlon and Errol Lewis, stopped Taitz from talking over everyone as she was attempting to do for the entire segment.
Pilgrim quoted a number sources including FactCheck.org's article The truth about Obama's birth certificate which should have laid this nonsense to rest:
FactCheck.org staffers have now seen, touched, examined and photographed the original birth certificate. We conclude that it meets all of the requirements from the State Department for proving U.S. citizenship. Claims that the document lacks a raised seal or a signature are false. We have posted high-resolution photographs of the document as "supporting documents" to this article. Our conclusion: Obama was born in the U.S.A. just as he has always said.
Of course that wasn't good enough for Taitz or Keyes who blathered on as though they didn't hear a word Pilgrim just said.
Despite Pilgrim's debunking of the rumor on tonight's show, I've got to wonder if Dobbs will follow suit when he returns given he was on his radio show as recently as July 15th saying that Obama needs to produce a birth certificate. From Media Matters.

PILGRIM: Well, an Army Reserve major is again raising controversy over President Obama's place of birth. Now, the major challenged his deployment orders claiming that President Obama wasn't born in the United States, and that renders his orders illegal.
Now, a former presidential candidate, Alan Keyes, also filed a lawsuit challenging the president's right to hold the office, and a hearing on that suit will be held on Monday.
Now, questions about the president's place of birth have been asked and answered many times since before the election, and the president's birth certificate says he was born in Hawaii. The state's Republic governor and other officials have backed that up. CNN has fully investigated the issue, found no basis for the questions about the president's birthplace, but the controversy lives on, especially on the Internet.
Joining me now is Orly Taitz and she represents the Army major and filed the Keyes' lawsuit. Former presidential candidate Alan Keyes joins us. And on the other side,, John Avlon who is a columnist with the DailyBeast.com and author of "Independent Nation." And Errol Louis, columnist for the "New York Daily News" and a CNN, also an attorney.
And so, let me, just before we start, bear with me a bit. There's overwhelming evidence that proves that his birth certificate is real and that was born in Honolulu on August 4, 1961. And if you'll just bear with me, I'll run through a little bit of the evidence and then we can get to this discussion. Now, the Annenberg political fact check, which is a nonpartisan group, went to Chicago to view the birth certificate last year and they released photos and this statement, "FactCheck.org staffers have now seen, touched, examined and photographed the original birth certificate. We conclude that it meets all of the requirements from the State Department for proving U.S. citizenship. Our conclusion: Obama was born in the USA, just has he has always said."
The Republican governor of Hawaii, Linda Lingle, on record, she says Obama was indeed born in her state and we should note, she did support John McCain. So, we also have a copy of the "Honolulu Advertiser" the newspaper, August 13, and the "Hawaii Star-Bulletin," August 14, 1961, both announcing Barack Obama's birth.
Also, October last year, the director of the Hawaii Department of Health wrote a letter stating, "I have personally seen and verified that the Hawaii State Department of Health has Senator Obama's original birth certificate on record in accordance with state policies and procedure."
PolitiFact.com reissued their results from the investigation they conducted in June of last year and they say, "Since we published Obama's birth certificate, questions about its authenticity have been frequent and fierce. After reviewing the evidence, we are confident of our rulings."
This is the last one, thanks for bearing with me. The White House press briefing this week, reporter from the "World Net Daily" pressed again about the birth certificate, the White House press secretary, Robert Gibbs, said this following comment:

PILGRIM: Now, Alan Keyes, you've been patient letting me get through all that, but what more do you need to be convinced?

ALAN KEYES, FMR PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE: Some evidence. And the evidence is something that president Obama is strenuously blocking. You ask me to prove that I was born in New York City at the time and hospital I say, and I will give you a certified copy of a full birth certificate with a doctor's signature, the hospital, and everything else. I won't direct you to some photograph on the Internet and a bunch of hearsay statements that would not be accepted as evidence in any court of law.
And so the very simple question is, why spend 800,000 to a million dollars blocking the birth certificate? Blocking records at school and college that would in any way have a bearing on the question...
PILGRIM: All right, Alan...
KEYES: Both of his birth and of his citizenship claims at various times in his life. Why is he going to all this trouble, if as they say, the matter is resolved? Can't be resolved by a bunch of statements and assertions.
PILGRIM: OK, Orly, we have to keep this quicker, but please tell me...
ORLY TAITZ, ATTORNEY: OK, Obama never provided his birth certificate. What he provided is certification of live birth that was issued last year that does not have the name of the doctor, does not have the name of the hospital, does not have any signatures. Do you know that Hawaii has a statute 338, that allows foreign-born children of Hawaiian residence to get Hawaiian birth certificates. Did you know that?
PILGRIM: Errol, I would like you to respond.
ERROL LOUIS, NEW YORK DAILY NEWS: Listen, I think -- I think what we have here is a case where under the guise of saying, well, we can't trust whether or not he should be president because we don't have the evidence, it's actually the reverse. These are folks, and there are a number of them, and some of them are raising money like "World Net Daily" which is as far as I'm concerned, running a scam, where they're selling all kinds of bumper stickers and stuff like that, and I don't know what Miss Taitz is taking in the way of legal fees.

They're raising legal fees from across the country and the reality is they don't accept that the president is the president, and, therefore, they work backward and there will never be enough proof to satisfy them.

She got some EZ-distance-learning-law degree in California which allows her to practice SOLELY in CA. She didn't take the ABA bar exam (that's the big one). She had to get some kind of permission slip from the Supreme Court to bring her suit (Keyes v. US or whatever). I've read that she may be in violation, and may be disbarred in the future.
Off topic, but I've always thought that correspondence degrees are B.S. I went to a real college and got a real degree by taking real classes with real people which had real dialogue. Learning by yourself just isn't the same. Taking a few distance learning classes as part of your degree is one thing, but when it's all mail in, it doesn't seem like you're getting a proper education. Blah.

And the usual game with birth certificates is that you find a child that died in infancy, but is about the right age for the identity you wish to establish. You then request a copy of the birth certificate.
HOWEVER, this is getting more difficult to perpetrate. More registrars/clerks are disallowing online/mail-in requests and asking that you show up in person.
His mum is was an American citizen (he was born in Wichita, Kansas for crying out loud!), ergo he is an American citizen. Furthermore, he was born in American soil (unlike Mr. McCain BTW), so even if he was born of foreign parents, he was a citizen automatically via being born in this country.
In any sane society, anyone who brought this BS claim would have been laughed out of town. And yet here we are, with people actually allowed air time in national TV to say things that a simple cursory evaluation would prove to not only be false, but basically plain libel.

All I know about her is that she says she is a dentist, she took a correspondence course at a non-ABA approved law school (matchbook school-Taft), can only practice in California (although she did seek and receive permission to argue before the Supreme Court, but to file for Cook she had to go pro hoc vice), her husband's name is Yosef, and she is nuts. That's pretty much all I know about her, what do you know?

Orly, her mail-order law degree, and her douche bag client could save themselves a ton of hassle. The should just contact the Department of Vital Statistics in the state of Keyes' birth and order a copy of HIS birth certificate. They will get a certificate of live birth just like Obama has.
Since 9/11, you can't get a "certified copy" of the original document anymore They don't even exist due to the risk of false copies.
I happen to know this because my birth certificate got misplace somewhere along the line, and when I tried to get a certified copy of the original, I was told I could not due to new DHS standards.

Quite frankly, I and many other people don't give a flying fuck if Obama was born in the US or not. George W. Worst President in History Bush was born in the US...does that mean he was better in some way? I don't think so.
Get a list of ALL the birthers. NOW. Just get a list going. We need to know who these people are and what they are doing at all times. They are way too stupid to be let out without supervision. Also note how Alan Keyes demands evidence and not hearsay statements and assertions that would not stand up in a court of law. The same could be said about his creationist beliefs. I also liked how as soon as Keyes uttered the word evidence, he was laughed at. He deserves that.
Chapter 338 is the section of Hawaii code that addresses Vital Statistics. Of course Taitz doesn't provide an actual citation that would lead to exactly what she was talking about, and Chapter 338 has well over 30 different sections but I will try.
She says that because Hawaii allows for 'late' (defined as 1 year past the actual date of the event)filing of birth, death, and marriage certificates (s. 338-29), Obama could have gotten his birth certificate when he was 21. Naturally she leaves out the part of the statute that requires such 'late' issued certificates be be marked as "LATE".
I do not find where, as Taitz claims, that the statute allows certification on the word of a relative, rather than the evidentiary requirements of the agency as stated in the statute.
Noteworthy, the statute allowing late filing was not written and adopted until 1972.

You weren't able to show that Orly's statement that the president must have TWO citizen parents is not true (just have to be born here). You didn't respond to Keyes' assertion that Obama is hiding his college records (maybe he's doing it to avoid harassment, and he has a right to privacy like all of us?), thus giving an impression that there ARE unanswered questions.
This was an AWFUL discussion. There aren't any "new questions about the president's birth", there's only the same delusional people. When Orly temporarily stopped to catch her breath, someone began to speak. Then Orly began again, evidentially unaware, she no longer had the floor. So, she just continued speaking again. It was so funny watching her jabbering away, up in the corner by herself. Finally the moderator had to tell her that time had run out. Otherwise, she would probably still be up there, talking to herself.

This is ridiculous and the Birthers..Taitz especially are so ignorant. They keep saying that a child born out of Hawaii must have BOTH parents who are citizens and they can get a birth certificate for the child.
This is ONLY for NATIVE HAWAIIANS who are eligible for certain benefits having to do with land ownership that is ONLY available to NATIVE BORN Hawaiians who can prove lineage. This has NOTHING whatsoever to do with being a Natural Born US Citizen, which is a qualification to be President of the United States.
Obama has NEVER claimed to be a NATIVE Hawaiian eligible for special benefits that are ONLY for Hawaiian NATIVES who have parents who are Hawaiian natives.
Furthermore...if the Birthers have ANY proof that Obama was born ANYWHERE BUT in the United States...let them show a birth certificate from where they believe he was REALLY born.

The only requirements to be President of the USA is to be at least 35 years old and a Natural born US citizen which means you are born on American soil and if you were NOT born on US soil, your parents had to be US citizens.
There is NO proof that Obama was born ANYWHERE BUT on US soil.
