Lou Dobbs uses the example of some crazy birthers out there screaming at Congressman Mike Castle to claim that there are still some questions that have not been answered about the President's birth certificate.
This after his fill-in host, Kitty Pilgrim just debunked those claims on Dobbs' own show this past Friday. I asked whether Dobbs would follow suit and admit that there was no controversy. Well, I just got my answer.
Hey Lou, if you're going to spout crazy birther propaganda on your show, do you think you could get your story straight with your staff first?

After all these are likely the same people that deny scientific facts. No matter how much undeniable evidence you dump in their laps they won't believe it. They haven't evolved like the rest of us so they can't comprehend why evidence trumps belief.
I wish someone like Lou Dobbs that "birthers" don't just dismiss out of hand would actually investigate the birther allegations rather than just report the controversy thus feeding into it. I believe after collecting all the facts Lou Dobbs would have to tell them they are flat wrong and probably lose a few truly nutty viewers. It would only take a little, not a lot of courage and journalistic work.

Why would they want facts? If they resolve this issue, then they have to cover something else. But it takes no effort (effort = $) on their part to just keep this inflammatory question alive.

The other day even Fox news said that the President was a US citizen and there was no question about his birth certificate.

That woman felt so insulted that a Republican rep would admit Obama is a citizen, she felt like she had to utter the magic words of the Pledge of Allegiance to make her feel better.

Someone sent Dobbs links to scans of Obama's birth cert, clearly showing the raised impression of the certifying stamp and the stamped signature of the state registrar.
Dobbs' response: "Your citations don't include either the name of the hospital or doctor."
Birth certificates NEVER contain this information. The guy's a sleazy weasel.
Annoyed Canuck writes that birth certificates don't include the hospital's or doctor's name. Is that a Canadian thing? I was born in Illinois, and my b.c. includes the raised seal, the name of the hospital, and the doctor's and nurse's signatures along with the date and time of birth.
This may be what your state prints on a long-form birth certificate.
I have my long-form certificate, which lists neither hospital nor doctor. Several years ago, I obtained birth certs for my grandparents from Ireland, which also do not list hospital or doctor. Nor does the UK, from what I understand.

It's a lot more likely that John McCain may not have been a 'natural born' citizen, having been born outside the USA in the Panama Canal zone in 1938.
Well, as far as I know, Obama is a natural born citizen for 2 reasons, either of which qualifies him for the presidency:
1. His mother was an American Citizen
2. He was born in Hawaii
As long as his mother was a citizen, he could have been "born on the moon" as they say, and still qualified.
The same thing applies to John McCain - his birth in the Panama Canal zone is irrelevant. I assume both of his parents are American citizens.
Obama's father wasn't an American Citizen, but it doesn't matter. I think this is behind the birther's vitriolic racism. Since he didn't have 2 American parents, he's not "100% American" in their eyes. Notice how that lady talked about how her daddy fought in WW2 or whatever. In her eyes Obama's family isn't sufficiently patriotic - she probably thinks his mother screwing a black man was miscegenation or whatever.
Once on Air America, I heard them talking about the supreme court, and they said, the constitution doesn't mean what you think it means, it means what the S.C. says it means. So the meaning of the Constitutional phrase "natural born citizen" has to be determined by the judiciary. It seems birther's fashion themselves as "strict constructionists" and deem "natural born" to only mean born within the 50 states. Oh yeah, I forgot, they believe he was born in Kenya (still doesn't matter with his mother being a citizen).
Seeing as how English language changes, it seems the constitution could have been more specific about what natural born citizen meant. But the Constitution is far from perfect (what a heresy!)!
As far as Lou Dobbs saying, "where's the doctor's name and the hospital name?" I thought it might have something to do with the differences between states (you know, state's rights the thing all you conservatives love?). Gee, imagine that, some states might require the doctor's name and others might not. Fuck you, Dobbs.
The original birth certificate shows the doctor and hospital but a replacement birth certificate is a shorter form meant to certify that a valid original is on file in the archives.
I had to replace my birth certificate recently, and the first one I got looked just like Obama's. This controversy was going on, so I requested that they photocopy and certify the original, rather than the shorter replacement form. The Clerk did it for me, but every state is different-some small towns and cities are much easier work with than large metropolitan areas.
For the longest time all I had was a photostatic copy. That's all California gave my mom after I was born. It took the Army doing a background check for me to finally get one with a seal. I was in my twenties.
Yours may include a hospital but it is NOT a requirement. What if you were not born in a hospital? Place of birth means the city or county you were born.
Interesting -- thanks! My b.c. has an engraving of the hospital on it, so it must have been printed by them and given to the doctor and nurse to sign, and then legally certified and given to my parents.

Just another example for you;
My BC does have a Doctor's signature and hospital, my son's does as well. Both from Calif. Mine is a copy with raised seal as is my son's. (Aren't they all. Mine looks more or less just like my son's but are from different counties. I had to go get my son's when I wanted a Birth Certificate for him. It didn't come attached to his ankle or anything. It wasn't spit out with him when he was spit out and the Hospital didn't give it to me.) My wife's does not have a hospital or doctor's name of signature (From NJ). It could be because it is a copy as mentioned above but I don't know. I do know that it is accepted for a passport so the federal government thinks it is valid. So Dobbs, go fuck yourself.

The bigger picture regarding Dobbs and CNN is that Dobbs has lost credibility with this birther thing (Any cred he may have had, that is. Now he only has crud.). Consequently CNN loses credibility. And is assiated with "crud." Sure the insane birthers like him and will watch him when they can figure out how to turn on the TV but is CNN willing to lose the potential 90% + who look at this freak and say, "No way I am going to watch this asshole. Here is another thing about these jerks who keep saying that Obama is not a citizen. Usually they are the dumbasses in the crowd and not the commentators but I still hear it often enough. They say Obama is not a citizen. That part of it is bullshit through and through, no disputing it. A lot of these idiots say he is Kenyan. If his mother is American he is American. He could be Kenyan as well but he is American no matter what unless he has renounced his citizenship. If he has a passport he is American.
